1st Snowfall

After the (mostly) harmless chaos of Halloween, the city lies dormant for a few days in the aftermath. Otherworldly quests, demonic pranks, and of course, the continued threat of the 13th Hour has no doubt worn down both citizens and Visitors alike. It's time for a bit of R&R and good old fashioned fun. Early the morning of November 4th, the first snowflakes begin to drift gently to the ground as the weather eases gently into the winter months...

By the time the city awakens, a light dusting of snow already lies upon the streets. Responsible citizens emerge to shovel the walkways, but it's soon evident that their efforts are of little use. The snowstorm, though not fierce, continues unabated throughout the day and by early afternoon, a good foot of snow covers Hinoto-Ri. Most have given up on accomplishing anything useful, preferring to wait out the storm, and the majority of shops and businesses unceremoniously remain closed.

The weather clears enough by 2PM to become the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a day off. Laughing children emerge to hold snowball fights in the middle of the streets, snowmen and sleds appear all over Capricorn, and the general atmosphere is congenial, relaxed, and soothing. Feel free to participate in the games or simply to sit with your friends by a cozy fire, playing board games or reading books or drinking a mug of cocoa. If you're particularly altruistic, you may even get a jump start on shoveling off the streets. The first snowfall is always a magical time of year. You almost can't help the feeling that it's... too peaceful.

She blinks then looks at the sky pondering for a second.

"When the snow stops that sounds fun. If its still snowing, I've had bad experiences with rain and snow in open cockpits."

"Ha! Don't let Solar Logos hear you call him an 'open cockpit'. But okay - once the snow stops, it's a date!"

She shakes her head a bit, "My only experience has been in an open Astevalus, we don't have pokemon on my world."

Kotoha's smile turns slightly wistful.

"Yeah, it's strange, but...I think I'm actually getting used to nobody knowing what Pokemon are. It's hard when something you take for granted is suddenly just...not there anymore, isn't it?"

"I can understand that. Though its technology with me, not animals. I never even had a pet back home, I get the feeling every child has one or two pokemon to keep them company where you come from."

"There's always a Pokemon around the house somewhere, yeah, but younger kids usually only have one Pokemon a relative got for them until they get their license."

She ponders a bit then nods.

"Given how dangerous they can be that makes sense."

[unbroken_chain]

"Nobody really thinks of Pokemon as dangerous, you know? I mean, I'm starting to understand how it looks to other people, but back home...people and Pokemon have been working together for thousands of years."

[electricyousei]

"And no one uses Pokemon as weapons or for crime in your world? That is rather amazing if so. It sounds kind of ideal."

"...it does happen. But...everyone knows there aren't any bad Pokemon. If a wild Pokemon does something that causes trouble for humans, it's because it just doesn't understand humans. And if a trained Pokemon does something bad, it's because their Trainer ordered them to do it. Trainers like that get their licenses revoked, though."

"I see. I've seen a lot of things like license abuse, I guess I'm a bit jaded there."

She wrinkles her nose a bit.

"Still, it sounds like a nice world, probably with many more trees."

"Yeah, there's lots of forests around - just outside Nimbasa, there's this place called Lostlorn Forest - I met a Zoroark disguised as a human there once!"

"There aren't that many back home anymore. Orbital bombing and profiteering dealt with that. Hopefully that will change with time."

"Orbital...bombing?"

Please help Kotoha does not understand.

"Ships firing at a planet from space. Its usually a terror attack designed to demoralize people since most of the military complexes were underground."

"...and I thought Plasma's city-destroying terror weapon was bad."

"War is ugly and terrible."

She shakes her head and lets out a breath.

"And frequently the people that die aren't even involved."

[unbroken_chain]

"...there hasn't been a war in Unova since before I was born. I'd like to say I understand what it'd be like, but...I don't think that's possible."

"Not understanding is in no way bad. I actually really envy that."

She smiles a somewhat sad smile and nods, "Not seeing people at their worst isn't something you should apologize for. Be happy."
