1st Snowfall

After the (mostly) harmless chaos of Halloween, the city lies dormant for a few days in the aftermath. Otherworldly quests, demonic pranks, and of course, the continued threat of the 13th Hour has no doubt worn down both citizens and Visitors alike. It's time for a bit of R&R and good old fashioned fun. Early the morning of November 4th, the first snowflakes begin to drift gently to the ground as the weather eases gently into the winter months...

By the time the city awakens, a light dusting of snow already lies upon the streets. Responsible citizens emerge to shovel the walkways, but it's soon evident that their efforts are of little use. The snowstorm, though not fierce, continues unabated throughout the day and by early afternoon, a good foot of snow covers Hinoto-Ri. Most have given up on accomplishing anything useful, preferring to wait out the storm, and the majority of shops and businesses unceremoniously remain closed.

The weather clears enough by 2PM to become the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a day off. Laughing children emerge to hold snowball fights in the middle of the streets, snowmen and sleds appear all over Capricorn, and the general atmosphere is congenial, relaxed, and soothing. Feel free to participate in the games or simply to sit with your friends by a cozy fire, playing board games or reading books or drinking a mug of cocoa. If you're particularly altruistic, you may even get a jump start on shoveling off the streets. The first snowfall is always a magical time of year. You almost can't help the feeling that it's... too peaceful.

Sarah knows her reaction to the snowstorm is a little unusual, but after all that time undergoing medical exams she doesn't think she can take being cooped up much longer. So as soon as she realizes the insistent snow has basically shut down the city, she heads outside, still wearing her casual outfit of a tanktop and pants.

There's a certain kind of nostalgia in seeing all the empty shops around - maybe not a particularly cheerful kind, but there all the same.

Morning: There's something about the snow Ruri likes and with the wind not being terrible she heads out from her ship in the morning and walks down to the Virgo district to watch the shops open. After she realizes that isn't happening she sits down and watches the trucks go by with a can of hot tea from a vending machine.

Afternoon: After a few hours she'll get up and start walking the streets, stopping to get a can of hot chocolate every half an hour or so, just watching how the people deal with the snow.

Fuck yeah. There's little as satisfying as running in the crisp air of the first snowfall, even if her usual Jack fanclub is too busy celebrating the first snow to follow her this time. Although today, she's wearing a sport shirt to run. Is she obeying the Mayor, or just adapting to the weather?

Normally, Kotoha would deal with the cold by having Solar Logos follow her around, but she put that plan off when she saw the kids playing in the snow. Instead, she's swapped out her culottes and tights combo for a pair of heavy cargo pants and a matching jacket.

"Ruri! Hey!"

It's not long before Owl pulls into place beside Shura, nodding in greeting as she smoothly matches Shura's pace.

"Shura."

She's wearing the same heavy pants and tanktop she wore in her first broadcast, but she appears to be paying the cold no mind.

Ruri stops and looks back, "Hrm? Oh, hi Kotoha."

She smiles slightly and waves.

Kotoha's normal walking pace is 'dead run', and not even the streets being covered in snow can stop that, so it's not long before she's caught up to Ruri.

"People watching?"

Kotoha's cheeks and nose are rosy from the cold, her breath puffing out in little white bursts as she grins broadly.

"Snow is something rare where I come from, so I was just seeing how the city reacted to it."

She looks up and shrugs a bit.

"That and the cold is kind of refreshing."

"It's pretty temperate back home, but we still get snow...this actually reminds me of Icirrus City in the winter, it's so heavy."

Just sort of looking around.

"It's kind of nice to see, isn't it? It kind of makes me understand why Brycen specialized in Ice-types."

"I spend most of my time in server rooms, its always cool there. But the snow is very pretty and it makes things more quiet when its falling."

She dusts a little out of her hair and sips from her can.

Kotoha nods, humming a little in agreement. For the next few minutes, she's content to just walk next to Ruri, taking in the scenery in silence.

It doesn't last, of course.

"You wanna go flying for a while?"

She shakes her head a bit and lets out a sigh.

"The Nadesico's engine block is still under repair. I haven't gotten those systems working yet so no flying for a while. At least not until I get the parts in."

A slight pause before Kotoha speaks up again, her voice suffused with suppressed laughter.

"Lemme rephrase that. Would you like to accompany me on a flight over the city?"

Someone at least is grateful for the peace, a warrior-knight out of time and space, letting the world grow quiet around him for a moment as he watches the children playing, and people shopping, his grey armor flecked with white, recalling an older time, and in some ways a happier one for him.

She blinks then looks at the sky pondering for a second.

"When the snow stops that sounds fun. If its still snowing, I've had bad experiences with rain and snow in open cockpits."

Stopping behind him and taking a sip from her can of tea before looking up Ruri shakes her head.

"You're going to end up a snow man yourself if you don't move occasionally."

"The heat from the armor's exhaust systems should melt the snow before it becomes too much of a problem, I'd imagine."

He turns slowly to look at Ruri.

"How have you been?"

She looks up and shrugs again.

"I've been busy. There have been a lot of repairs to make since the last monster and being busy keeps me focused on the present. I'd be careful the exhaust doesn't flood."

"Ha! Don't let Solar Logos hear you call him an 'open cockpit'. But okay - once the snow stops, it's a date!"

She shakes her head a bit, "My only experience has been in an open Astevalus, we don't have pokemon on my world."

My, but he's a large one. Sarah stares up at the massive armored figure, clearly wondering what the deal is. Beyond flicking away the snow as it piles up on her bare shoulders, she doesn't seem particularly bothered by the cold.

Kotoha's smile turns slightly wistful.

"Yeah, it's strange, but...I think I'm actually getting used to nobody knowing what Pokemon are. It's hard when something you take for granted is suddenly just...not there anymore, isn't it?"

[greyerrant]

"That would be unfortunate, what with no Mechanicus adept around to properly repair it. We've managed to use Maximus plate in underwater operations, according to some reports I've read, but I'm uncertain if they were modified."

He considers the last monster, and looks into the middle distance for a moment.

"Ah yes. The last battle. It was odd."

The warrior stares back, quiet, and seemingly carved from granite and ceramite. He doesn't know quite how to respond to someone looking at him, beyond looking back, the internal systems of his helm putting crosshairs over her almost automatically.

Hizumi can be found wandering the streets of Hinoto-Ri, although not at any of his usual haunts. There's an air of melancholy about him, which is somewhat odd - normally, all of this snow would be the exact type of thing to get the teen excited. But instead, he seems to be enjoying it in a much quieter way, often pausing to take in the atmosphere, his eyes searching out the details in the buildings around him.

However, if he spots another Visitor, there's no helping it. With a faint smile, he'll give a small nod in greeting.
