Sell sell sell!

Who: Misery, OPEN. Certain characters with close CR with her especially welcome.
Where: Misery's apartment/shop in Libra.
Summary: The rarest of the rare: A sale at Misery's! ...well, as much of a sale as she's willing to do.
Warnings: Misery. Enough said.

It felt good to be out of there. The doctors had told her to avoid too much strenuous activity or heavy lifting, something she intended on honoring with GUSTO. She'd had enough getting her hands dirty for a good long while.

Potion making. She'd never really had a lot of time to do this sort of thing during the bad years, but she'd dallied with it during the few down hours she was allowed as a servant. No doubt she's nowhere at the level of the Old Bag yet, but she'll get there some day, especially with all this access to new and interesting ingredients. And she was already doing a pretty fantastic job as is.

And it's a good distraction. From the Anoli, from her injuries, from the dreams that have been getting more specific. As good a reason as any to make them more appealing right now with the price cut, AND it gets her more money too. She can't really lose from this.

Injuries and disturbing videos aside, she's actually in a pretty good mood.

((OOC: She's selling stuff! Generally speaking, as far as what your character can afford, if they've got a low paying job, she's got little poultices and stuff that will help with healing via natural means, like with first aid. She also sells potions that are on the level of a Dia spell for a quick-fix heal, but these are more expensive and even someone with a fairly standard paying job can probably only afford 3 at the most. Same goes for her Patra stones. Her stock will increase as more bestiary entries with item drops are added, so I'll let folks know when new things come in. She also has "luck" potions which are cheap... and rely entirely on the superstitious beliefs of the user rather than actually working themselves. Caveat emptor.))

"Double, double, toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
."

The words are hissed in a harsh stage whisper from the other side of the door; three guesses who would be making the Shakespeare reference. Atsuro had heard Misery's broadcast over the phone, of course, and had deigned to roll out of bed and laboriously walk........ two whole doors down.

Look at the lengths he goes to for you.

"I just thought I would set the ambiance."

Atsuro takes the doorknob and lets himself in with a word of greeting.

"Do you need any burnt skin for your potions? I can donate some if you don't think it would poison all of your customers."

Atsuro wanders over to inspect one of the boxes out of curiosity and figures that he knows Misery well enough that she doesn't mind. Perhaps he's wrong.

"Sorry, Misery. Kazuya's going - my best friend. There's no way I'm letting him face tentacle monsters alone." He shakes his head. "...Besides. We can't just sit around and hope they'll come back."

"I play enough games to know what the outcome of this kind of thing usually is."

Atsuro turns to give Misery a faint smile, making a note of her apparent plans to find a new apartment.

"Don't you think it's suspicious? That a video like that would play automatically..."

"Exactly. But the thing is..." Atsuro pauses for a moment. "It knows how to set up the bait. It knows how this kind of technology works. ...I don't mean to be a snob, but that means it has to think - to operate and function - something like a human. I've never met a demon that could program in Perl."

"If it's human enough to have human motivations and thought processes, it makes it a lot less threatening, too, doesn't it? This is some equivalent of sending a ransom letter with cut and paste newspaper words. Of course, maybe it's some tentacle monster that learned computer programming in its spare time in between devouring souls, and I'm screwed, but..." He gives a shrug. "It's not the first soul-devourer I've fought."

Ooh. Shiny loot. Atsuro takes the vial with an appreciative glimmer in his eyes and succumbs to the urge to make another crack.

"Hey, I thought I said I could do just fine for myself without any love potions."

Hopefully she doesn't rescind it.

"Thanks, Misery."

"If you take the trouble to track me down into the afterlife, do you mind bringing my laptop with you? I have a feeling heaven doesn't have computer games."

Atsuro pockets the vial and flashes Misery a smile.

"I'll save it for an emergency - I'm gonna be trusting you on this one! Potion of Infinite Restoration or something, right?"

"...Guess so. I mean, unless you're gonna volunteer to come along so we can test drive that new Persona thing."

He was joking, of course. There was no way he'd want anyone else -- not Misery and certainly not Nano -- to place themselves in danger for something as stupid as that.

"Thanks again, Misery. I'll bring it back; don't worry."
