Terra Firma (Newcomer + 13th Hour Log)
▼ All things change, and we change with them (13th hour & arrival log)
Where: The entire city
When: Month of July (date your post accordingly!)
Summary: This is both a Newcomer log AND a General 13th hour log
Warnings: That depends who is there. Remember to mark your titles clearly if any warnings need to be issued!
▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)
There had been a relative peace last month, apart from the fairy menace. The city was continuing to rebuild itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.
By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new opportunities; both good and bad.
To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.
Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.
Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little memento from home.
▼ Ode of the Newcomer
...hopefully anyway.
There is one word that stays with you, however.
Persona.
So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...
▼ Extra Long OOC Blurb
This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.
If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independent log if you'd like!
Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona ONCE PER IC WEEK, but not in the same thread IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).
If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).
FOR THE CREATURES: The creatures have to be in the Bestiary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]
DON'T FORGET TO TAG WITH YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME PLEASE.

[She grasps the heavy sack once more and hefts it over her shoulder with a grunt.]
And don't worry, I'm the most responsible flyer you'll ever meet. I'll be way too worried about dropping you to try any fancy moves.
[Another mischievous grin before she lifts off the ground and floats through the front gates.]
Be right back!
no subject
[He's gonna die. His first day here and he's gonna die, and not by demon or monster but because of his pride.
Like hell he's back down after she impugned his mutanthood, though.]
no subject
So! Ready to go?
[She had actually waited around for a minute or two just to see if he would flee after that (somewhat cruel, she could admit) baiting.]
...I don't think I've introduced myself yet, by the way. I'm Phantom Girl - Phantom Girl of the Legion of Superheroes of the 31st Century, representative of the planet, Bgztl.
[She gives an elegant bow in mid-air.]
no subject
He pulls himself together, though, and looks just as serious in return.]
Pyro of the Brotherhood of Mutants of the 21st Century, representative of Earth. [Then his lips turn up again.]
no subject
No, actually, I don't even know; it's not like any of our names are spelled without vowels. Don't try to say it; you'll sprain your tongue.
[She reaches down for his hand.]
Anyway, I technically live on Earth most of the time, anyway. Nice place, if a little overcrowded nowadays.
no subject
[He stares at that hand for a moment, his heart rate speeding up as memories of their terrible flight in the jet return. His first time flying, and it was a total (we're talking near-death) disaster. Now he's going to trust being dragged along by some alien?
Finally, he puts on his toughest tough guy face and grabs onto her hand. Bring it.]
no subject
[The moment he takes ahold of her hand, she will propel upwards into the sky - taking it slow, as promised. Rather than feeling a jerk of any sort, though, Pyro will find himself suddenly weightless as they ascend into the air.]
Remember all of the stuff about dimensions? I've phased you partially out of this one right now - the pull of gravity in the buffer space in between is pretty weak, so... voila.
Smooth as silk, right? I really love being me sometimes. Or, well. All of the time.
no subject
... what?
He's staring down at the ground, a bit dizzy from how high they are, but otherwise feeling pretty normal. None of the terrible nausea he felt in the jet.]
Not bad. [A grudging mutter, but with some real admiration behind it.] Xavier's has a girl who can phase, but not like this.
no subject
[From this height, it's easy to make out the general layout of the city. Phantom Girl directs the two of them towards what she knows to be the closer apartment complex.]
I'm guessing my way's pretty unique - is hers something to do with molecular instability? You'd be surprised how often abilities can overlap. We have to have a rule about repeating powers, even.
no subject
[Or get deserted. Like him. But he's not bringing that up to a stranger.]
She walks through walls and sinks through floors and shit like that. Just turns intangible. It's something about the spaces between atoms.
no subject
[Phantom Girl gives a small shrug as they change course towards a rather tall building.]
So... did she ever take anyone along for the ride?
no subject
[Yeah, boy's got priorities.]
I bet it was a hell of a mutation to deal with when it manifested, though. Get stressed out and you fall right through the floor. [He's already snickering to himself at the picture of it.]
no subject
[Phantom Girl is... perhaps marginally passing in that department.]
But what do you mean 'manifested'? It just pops up randomly out of the blue? One day, you're a kid, and the next you're a human torch?
[Wrong comic series.]
no subject
[Opportunistic compliment, or genuine? Probably impossible to say, given his attitude about flight.]
Kinda like that. You're always a mutant, but the power itself hits around puberty, usually around something stressful. Why do you think so many kids need a boarding school to hide out in? Their parents are mostly human.
no subject
[A slight pause. 'Hide out in'?]
...Oh.
[21st century Earth, as she was aware, responded to aliens by alternately screaming or attempting to riddle them with bullets. She had assumed that the world Pyro came from was used to such 'mutations', but if it were a 'normal' world dealing with very abnormal people...]
You know, evolution doesn't just spit out something new totally out of the blue; a parent of a child is still...
[Her voice falters from there.]
I guess it's hard for people to see it that way, huh...?
no subject
- well, some kids can pass and they hide it, say Xavier's is just a prep school. It's just called a school for "gifted children" for a reason.
Some can't.
no subject
...I'm sorry.
[It was evident he was speaking from personal experience of some sort or another. Combined with his attitude, his disdain, his pride... voila. It wasn't too hard to guess where he was coming from. Phantom Girl sighs softly.]
I know it isn't fair for me to talk about your world, but... I don't think they really hate you. They're just... afraid. Everyone - human, Bgztlian, probably even mutants - it's fear of the things we don't understand that drives us to our worst. You... maybe you just see the ones who fear what you stand for the most. The soldiers and the media or whatever it is you're fighting against.
...It was like that for us, too, before. They were afraid. I mean, to some extent, there are still Earthlings who think we're freaks. But do you know what Earth kids usually say to us now?
They wish they could be like us... They want to grow up to be superheroes. Maybe your world is on the brink of change. Even now -- I bet there are little kids who think you're the coolest things ever.
no subject
Yeah, they're scared. But not half as scared as they're gonna be.
no subject
[Says the superhero. Phantom Girl rolls her eyes and carries on with the flight.]
Whatever. I'm sure setting the world on fire will make it a much nicer place to live. Probably ups the property value, too.
