Who: Flynn and... well, you. (It's open :D)
Where: Some random district - my open is generically worded so you can decide :D
Summary: Flynn gets caught in the 13th hour and learns to use his persona.
Warnings: MY INCOMPETENCY IN WRITING A PROPER OPEN POST
[ The sky was red. An interesting development. This whole... ordeal has been, in fact. Even the White did not anticipate many things. A world laid to ruin by two opposing factions, upon a final battlefield - one would certainly expect this to be the deed of God and demonkind, but Hinoto-Ri did not have enough involvement with either. Instead, a game played by two entities to decide the fate of mankind... and he was to be a pawn. A pawn with a mission.
But they did anticipate these... shadows. Manifestations of a person's hidden self. Every human had one, with the capability of becoming a Persona after acceptance. He didn't have one - after becoming the Messiah, it was erased.
He did have a Persona, though. Isabeau came with him.
Flynn followed the summoning procedure that the White had instructed him on, and she manifested next to him in a flash. She seemed more ethereal than she was in the Expanse.]
Only you will hear my words. This world works differently from ours... Your task, for now, will be to establish the demographics and current situation of the city so we may know what actions to take next.
[ A brief flash of lightning erupted from her fingertips, but faded quickly. Flynn raised an eyebrow in surprise - would she not inherit her previous power? ]
It seems that I do not have access to the abilities I had before..." [ She glanced at him, white irises betraying the slightest hint of hesitation. ] You will have to do it in my place.
[ He nodded, willing her to go on. She turned away for a moment. ]
A soul is coming this way. Be careful.

...but this guy wasn't someone he knew.]
Hey! Welcome to the city! Name's Eikichi Mishina, and I'm a visitor like you are.
no subject
[ The other was very... bright. Flynn felt the need to metaphorically shield his eyes.
Isabeau watched the other for a brief moment before giving him a nod. This person was safe to speak with. ]
"... visitor... I see. So that is the appropriate term..."
[ He met Eikichi's gaze and gave the other a faint hesitant smile. ]
"Thank you for the information. I am Flynn."

"Stupid... fucking..." she grumbled face first into the snow.
no subject
[ A woman falling from the sky. This was... quite unexpected... was he supposed to offer help? ]
"... are you alright?"
[ Flynn extended a hand, doubtful that the other would take it.
No problem
"Are you cosplaying?" You look like you came out of an anime, man.
guess what i came back early
"... I'm afraid I do not understand the term." [ Flynn replied after a short pause, emerald gaze unflinching. He was careful to give the impression of being sincere yet slightly confused. ]
guess what I continue to be terrible at tagging fast orz
its okay take your time :D
Demi-Fiend, though? Was she a demon, like him?
"I am Flynn. I just arrived a few hours ago. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."
He glanced around briefly before continuing.
"May I ask if red skies are common in this city?"
Thanks :D

"Where are we heading?" He kept his tone soft and quiet, without any sense of objection.

I'M SORRY I JUST GOT THE EMAIL NOTIF
The youth nodded, speaking no more.
IT'S OKAY
"Shit, that Aciel... anyway. This is the 13th hour. People are unaware of it, but us with powers are. It's an hour where demons roam the city. It's not safe to be out unprepared."
no subject
... once.
"I see..." He kept pace with Shura, curiosity showing slightly in his voice now. She mentioned that the two of the possessed powers. Which means...
"... you know of my demonic species?" Did she sense it, too?
no subject
no subject
"I may not resemble other demons in physical appearance, but I assure you, I am of the same essence." A pause. "Though... I was a human, once, as well. But no longer."
not late at all
...But that doesn't mean he likes throwing himself at danger every night if it could be avoided now and then. Which he kind of slaps himself for, so that's why he's wandering about now. Lailah is still flying near his head, face concealed by its mask. He should practice using his Persona for once, instead of relying on his demons that came along.
When the COMP starts blinking a bit, he pauses, then turns the corner faster. The last time he bumped into someone at the 13th Hour, it wasn't pretty, so best to check before-
-...well.]
Flynn? [HOLY SHIT he's here and not dead! Okay technically both could be dead at their world but he's here anyway!] I thought my eyes were playing a trick on me!
[...Spending a month here alone contemplating death and all is pretty lonely, okay. Excuse his excitement.]
:U
Though, how would he have survived as a human? Jonathan did not seem of a demonic composition at all...
He seemed to space out for a few seconds before collecting his thoughts. ]
"... Well, it is great to see you here." [ He gave Jonathan a faint smile before briefly glancing backward - Isabeau had somehow vanished. Perhaps she deemed it not yet appropriate to appear to the other.
Nevertheless, it was time to ask the important questions.]
"Do you know much about this city?"
don't give me that face
I do, in fact- I've been here for around a month. [Hey hey hey does that mean] Would you like me to show you around? [HE CAN SHOW SOMEONE AROUND NOW.
Not being... completely clueless feels a lot better.] Oh, but thank Heavens you're here! The last thing I can remember is us both being pulled into the Yamato Perpetual Reactor, and I thought only I've been scattered here.
[...Getting a bit ahead of yourself, Jonathan. Canon points. But! They really really really feel too alive to be dead, so, he can't think either of them are!]
:T
The appropriate word would be 'saddening', if he still had the doubts that plagued him while he was human. Now that he was the Messiah, what would become of Jonathan was simply fated to be.
Plus, wasn't that what the angels wanted in the end? It would be a better death.
"Ah, that would be great. I only arrived a few hours ago." He replied with a sincere smile. "Everything's rather confusing, to say the least... and this whole Persona issue..."
Trailing away, he allowed his gaze to stray to the side for a moment before resuming the conversation.
"The same happened to me too." Except Flynn went through thrice. "I think it'd be safe to say that you've been transported as well." By the angels, probably.
no subject
"I can understand that. I arrived here alone, however... none of our other friends are here." No Isabeau, no Walter, no one Flynn might know. Absolutely no one from the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado, basically.
He does turn the corner, though- and grabs Flynn's hand, if anything, to see if he was actually solid. (He is! He's real! That's good!) He had an Evoker in his other hand, and begins to speak again.
"I awakened my Persona by using one of these. They're fashioned like guns, the weapons of the people of Tokyo... but it's not fatal. It doesn't shoot bullets-"
And apparently someone really fucking needs to teach Jonathan to look out sometimes, because he either does it really well or doesn't do it at all. Rounding the corners brings them face first to one of the first demons of the 13th Hour, a-
...um... the fuck is that thing?
In any case, Jonathan stares and doubles back a bit before pausing.
no subject
Well, so far, so good. Walter had not been kidnapped, and Isabeau was with him. It all fell within reason.
Jonathan mentioned the Evokers. He owned one, which means he probably had a Persona too. It was probably an angel, if they had figured out a means to send their own to this world.
Flynn nodded again. He knew how to use an Evoker - the White instructed him to do so. It enabled their emissary to exist within this world, as a partner of his - Isabeau, from the future that was destroyed when the Yamato Reactor brought his own realm to an end. She had been giving him instruction ever since her assimilation through the expanse.
"I have one of these too." He drew out his own Evoker, which had been strapped inside his jacket. "A man with a butterfly mask gave it to me. I wonder if that is relevant?"
The other's words were cut short by the appearance of a demon. Flynn sensed hostility from it - demonic intuition, probably - but did not attack, waiting for it to respond. Drawing his blade, he readied one of the skills taught to him by the White. It would brand the demon, and make it unable to heal itself.
Persona Skill: Bufu | Demon Skill: Mazio
"Samson!"
In front of him manifests a bipedal figure- holding a beast by its jaw in his arms, lingering on the point of tearing it apart. This demon is new to Jonathan too, but- "Bufu. Lailah, try Mazio!"
He backed up a bit, next to Flynn- and turned to make sure he was still there, and not yet attacked. "It's good you have an Evoker. You could summon or demons, or try using your own Persona!"
(There is a bit of a desire to see what his friend's Persona is.)
Combat Skill: Stigmata Strike | Persona Skill: Muzzle Shot
A brief glance at Jonathan's Persona brings a faint smile of amusement. Not an angel, then. So he was becoming independent...
Swiftly bringing his own Evoker to the side of his head, he pulled the trigger in one smooth motion.
"Your assistance would be appreciated... about now." Where did she suddenly go, anyway?
The demon opened its mouth, as if readying a Fire spell, but it suddenly went cross-eyed and staggered sideways - revealing Isabeau standing behind it. Her pistol was out, with a faint whisper of smoke rising from the barrel.
Very timely of you, Flynn.
Persona Skill: Garu | Demon Skill: Axel Claw
The way the demon stumbles so quickly and Flynn just leaves some marking on it, some marking he doesn't understand- this is Flynn, alright. One step ahead, when it came to these things. A prodigy, almost, if calling someone a prodigy in demon fighting was considered polite.
Jonathan kind of- stares at his Persona for a moment, at first mistaking the flash of white for an attack, then another demon. But upon making out a face... he knows that the Persona could be summoned a bit of a distance away, and since the demon is in such close proximity, it could've easily flipped right around to attack. Flynn didn't even voice a command, though...
But his confusion is mostly... the Persona itself. The one Flynn has... Jonathan never really figured out his, and that drives him nuts to no end, but-
"...Garu. And- Axel Claw." He says that, but isn't concentrating on the battle, a bit unwise- rather, he's kinda... staring at Flynn. The demon really does seem rearing for a Fire spell, but the wind knocks it back, batting it around like a ping-pong ball. Right now, Jonathan was trying to phrase this... as well as possible...
"F;ynn, you didn't tell anyone- I- did you- ...Isabeau?"
...Attempt failed. HE'S ACTUALLY BLUSHING AT THE SUGGESTION OF WHAT HE'S SAYING, FLYNN. GIVE HIM AN ANSWER.
Combat Skill: Judgment | Persona Skill: Zionga
He brought his hands together swiftly and formed an iridescent orb of energy, tossing it in the demon's face. The Almighty spell detonated in a flash of bright light, causing Flauros to roar and stagger backward -
- straight into a thunderbolt that Isabeau aimed at its back.
You might have to clear that up after this, she commented wryly as the demon tried to clear the smoke from its head, making wide flailing motions. Its reach was not far enough to actually touch the two of them, which made it a little more hilarious.
"Duly noted." He gave her a nod, which brought a small smile to her face. While he sort of missed her old appearance, this new self was something he had to accept. For the sake of this mission.
Turning to Jonathan, he tried to address the issue.
"We'll talk more about it later. For now, the battle at hand."
Persona Skill: Garu | Demon Skill: Bufula
Getting rid of the last of the shock over Flynn, he turned to his Persona- "Yes, of course- Holy Arrow and Bufula!" -and sent too more attacks straight to its face, before seeing it stumble over and fall, completely defeated. (Alright, that's the first time a fight was so easy, especially with Jonathan miss-stepping and screwing up everywhere. It didn't seem to drop anything (LUCK STAT TOO LOW, THE BOTH OF YOU), but he didn't really care.
Now that he can see Flynn's Persona clearly, it's... a completely whited-over Isabeau? He's heard of people having those they considered extremely close as Personas, but nothing completely whited over. Maybe they just missed out that detail.
"Let's get to somewhere safe, first." Yeah, the 13th Hour isn't a time to give out a tour of the city. "One of the housing complexes, or somewhere else that repels demons."
Is Libra or Pisces block closer...? Pisces, if he remembers correctly. He's gotten kinda-not-really used to his COMP, in the sense that it bears similar function to the Gauntlet with the Mapper App.
no subject
Were such enemies the norm in Hinoto-Ri? Perhaps he could convert some to their cause...
"Pisces block, yes? I think my assigned residence is in that area." He called up the menu on his COMP, giving the statistics list a quick once-over. "Pisces 12-10, it seems. Though I don't quite have any idea how to get there..."
Isabeau cleared her throat slightly, drawing his attention. Would it be wise if I continued accompanying you? She half-indicated Jonathan, still slightly red in the face.
"Up to you, really. If you feel it appropriate, then sure." Flynn continued after a pause. "But I doubt he can hear you speak..."
You'll just have to be the translator, then. I believe he might have some useful information. And you'll have to explain it to him, to make things easier.
no subject
He does hear Flynn speaking to himself, though- that's a bit... unsettling, especially with how he seems to be referring to Jonathan. "...Um, who are you talking to?" As used to being in the dark he is, that doesn't mean he likes it, especially from someone like Flynn, who was so quiet normally.
no subject
It did make some sense.
Jonathan's question needed to be addressed. Flynn was getting to it, but the other mentioned first.
"Ah, so you cannot hear her words?" He replied after a pause, appearing slightly disappointed. "I was conversing with Isabeau, but it seems that in her current state she is inaudible to all but myself."
Another pause.
"Perhaps it's due to the Persona mechanism? I'm not so sure..."
It does have its limitations, she picked up the conversation, sharing his apparent disappointment. But then again, I cannot do much myself. We'll have to rely on you, I'm afraid.
no subject
...Yeah.
Well! About the... Persona thing! "...She speaks?" All he remembers his Persona ever saying is the whole 'from the sea of the soul I cometh' speech. Speaking of his Persona- it's faded off by now, and Lailah's still flitting near him to lightning spark the stray demon here and there.
"I don't recall hearing that Personas are capable of speech." Maybe it's just Flynn, or... just Jonathan, then?
But she is his Persona, right...? "Isabeau-" -can he even call her Isabeau?- "-is your Persona, correct? They're supposed to represent a part of yourself... hence the name."
no subject
"... I'm not quite sure about that as well." He spoke after a pensive pause, gaze centered somewhere off to the left of Jonathan's head. "She's been with me for quite some time. I doubt she is a... 'part of myself', so to speak. Maybe a different type of Persona?"
It would have been easier if I could actually speak. Isabeau sighed, glancing briefly at Jonathan.
"... I think perhaps the Persona summoning system is a way for her to follow me into this city?" Flynn continued after a pause, still hesitant. "I'm really unclear on the details..."
no subject
He's- trying not to be rude, with how the circumstances of Flynn's Persona went from oddly cute to downright abnormal, it did make him worry a bit. "...From what I know, all Personas are all somehow connected to yourself." Checking the Map again- though he's not really paying attention to it, barely registering the borders of the Ward because his mind is focused on... white Isabeau? Is that a fitting name?
"I don't understand what you mean by her being with you already... assuming you mean she was with you in our world."
no subject
"Jonathan. I know this may all sound far-fetched and perhaps downright improbable to you - but I ask for your trust and understanding in this matter."
He took a deep breath before continuing, careful to keep his tone calm and sincere.
"Isabeau - who has taken on the role of my Persona here - is from the future of our world. A future where all has been laid to ruin by war and mindless destruction. She managed to find a way to return back in time - the mechanisms which she herself do not fully understand - to inform me about the disastrous path our home world could take."
He looked to her for confirmation, which she gave with another nod.
"Because her physically manifesting in our world's timeline would unbalance the fabric of spacetime -" he did not quite understand the whole term, but recited it anyway "- she could only reach me through a proxy. She has been giving me instructions on the actions I should take and avoid in order to prevent her future from coming to pass."
There was another pause.
"But since I followed her instructions, her home realm has been erased, and her physical form is no more. I'm not quite sure on this part - but I think she followed me here. This whole... Persona thing is probably the only way she can continue existing..."
He glanced at Isabeau again, and she gave him a faint smile.
"... which I believe is a good thing, even if it is so... convoluted."
1/??? i'm so sorry
Uh.
Give him a moment.
2/5
Um.
3/5
Well, shit, uh...
no subject
5/5 DONE GOSH I'M SORRY
"It's fine. I believe you." Because he believes you, Flynn- you fucking ass. The worst sin is the fact that you're not even lying outright. Jonathan wouldn't think Flynn, the quiet, quiet one, would be capable of twisting his words in such a quaint way- the one who's so straightforward, and has an odd deadpan. Obviously, he'd trust him.
A bit too much.
"I'm... not sure what most of that meant. But... I am glad you did as you have." He does crack a slight smile at that! He does know that people apparently are capable of coming from different times, despite being from the same worlds, according to first-hand experience, so... he's assuming Flynn is from the future as well?
"You too, Isabeau," he says. Wait, uh... "I mean, I'm glad you're still here. Tragic as that might be... I can't imagine coming from a world like that."
(Can you taste the irony? It's fucking delicious.) Anyway, after those lines of assurance, he goes back to being utterly confused. "You might want to explain a bit more, though... I'm still mostly in the dark. Once we get to somewhere safe, of course."
:U
I doubt he fully understood, though.
"Um, alright." His response was accompanied with a slight tilt of his head. His verbal communication skills definitely needed some practice...
"... It's a long story, really. Even I don't understand all of it myself..."
Flynn continued to follow Jonathan, assuming they were heading to where his own apartment was.
no subject
At this point, he even wants Walter here. They're gonna argue, but it's better than ambiguously wondering if he could've done anything else, could've helped his friend see the lies of Lilith... at least, Isabeau seemed to be present, in a way. Such a world, though... it sends him snapshots of the philosophy and sweet words demons sprouted from their twisted faces and fingers.
(If Walter actually appears, he's going to be reduced from a friend to a wave of relief for Jonathan's own-self, in the end, but-) "I see. Now that you mention it, people from many different worlds arrive here in Hinoto-Ri. They may be similar, but most are completely apart from each other. It wouldn't be too far of a stretch to assume any world exists, even futures of ours."
...He mostly says that to make Flynn feel better, honestly. Jonathan likes to forget how crazy everything is, but he also doesn't want Flynn to think everyone will take him for a liar. "Oh, but you just arrived here- I think it's best to rest first before we spend hours speaking. I could show you around tomorrow."
no subject
He did seem very happy, though. At least, that brought a smile to Flynn's normally mild expression.
But did the white samurai truly feel happiness? This was a question even he could not answer. Demonhood brought his previous human emotions and newfound instincts into conflict.
Neverthless, it was prudent to show it - even if it was not completely genuine.
"That sounds great," he replied after a pause. "It is quite late... and fighting demons would be unwise."
Though...
"Do you think it appropriate to part ways now?"
He really had no idea.
no subject
Unless you have mind-reading demons.
"If you'd like. Demons always appear this late, though." He- kind of stops at the Metro and Tramway station, stepping into it much less tentatively than one month before.
"This is a stop point for a 'train'- it's a large machine designed to transport people," Unlike Mikado, which was built in a way that everything could ultimately be reached by foot. "There are many of these throughout Hinoto-Ri. They make up a whole transport system. It's much faster than going around the city on foot.
I can show you how to use it." Technology, what magic.
no subject
How did they function again? On lightning? He couldn't remember the details.
"Hm. That certainly makes travelling less taxing..." Flynn was reminded of trekking around Tokyo, and definitely not fondly. "Well, if you could, that would be great."
no subject
In any case- Jonathan ends up dragging Flynn into the station, pointing out the maps and Wards.
"Pisces Ward. That's where your new home is- it's a housing area, and the Visitor's building is close by." Pause. "Oh, before I forget- we're called 'Visitors' by the native citizens here. It's to show we're from different worlds."
Better than 'angels from the ceiling', anyway. "If you take that train going this way, it'll bring you to the Pisces Ward straight in three stops." The neon lights and flickering words of white light can be pretty disorientating at first, so he does make an effort to point out exactly where to do. "I could accompany you home, if you'd like."
Of course, this is Jonathan, so anything suggestive from that proposition is rendered null and void. (Hah.)
no subject
But it was manageable.
Noticing Isabeau's considerable lack of a response, he glanced backwards to find her gone. Hm. Usually she had no qualms about following him around.
"I think I'll make it on my own, thanks." He gave Jonathan a grateful smile. "You take care too."
