From One City to Another [Open post event info and start]

⊙

Who: Everyone (guests and non-guests alike)
Where: Geartopia
Summary: Event in City start!
Warnings: Cowboys and Gears
EVENT INFO: Read about it here if you're a new comer!

The Mayoress keeps her word, and the Visitors are whisked away and changed into more suitable clothing for this world, free of charge. As they step down from the portal -- a stark contrast to the last time it was used, a giant man standing easily over eight feet tall and resembling a mammoth takes out a piece of string and measures everyone for their complimentary hat, vest, goggles and boots, as a small team works nearby to adjust the sizes of the materials they already have. It's rather interesting to see them at work, cutting with iron scissors - a spiderlady using her own silken string along with a robot aide to patch things up. Before long, you are given an outfit that's been tailor-fit for you.

Hopefully you aren't too arachnophobic, she's a nice old lady.

Once that's all done, the Mayoress speaks up.

"Come with us, please!"

Robotic horses and chariots draw them into the middle of the town, as a small map is given to everyone, but it's overly simple at best.

As they arrive in the town square, a look around reveals that the people here seem to be a mixture of humans, humanoid animals that have evolved, and robots. The feeling is very Old West, but with it all kept at a simple level despite the advance technology present. Compared to Hinoto-Ri and its lights, bright city and atmosphere, Geartopia feels like it falls on the opposite end of the spectrum. There's barely anything that would make you think of a modern city.

Which is why those that don't look like they belong stand out even more than you do.

Confused people from various worlds, not meant to have landed here... but currently with no way to go home, are stuck in Geartopia, violently torn from whatever they had been doing.

"We ain't sure what happened," she tells the Visitors, shaking her head. "But the past three days have been nothin' more than a giant mess! And they keep pilin' up. We need you to help us figure out what's happenin’!"

As they continue towards the town's center, she gives a bit more explanation: Once, long ago, Geartopia was built by aliens visiting the planet that granted intelligence to some native species. That includes her kind! The giant black obsidian monoliths humming precariously outside of town are an example of that. Normally the rocks only work when they need to contact other worlds. Three days ago, they started to glow, and that's when others began to appear here. People that had not been planned for. And they were still coming in, too...

The technology the elder aliens left them allows them to contact other planets during times of distress, but otherwise, there is nothing futuristic going on - the aliens wanted it this way and for the most part, the population respects this. Most of the area is dry and arid, with very tiny grass and shrubs growing over the hill, and, strangely enough, an area from town that is densely populated by forest.

They'll need your strange and powerful manpower in the upcoming days… just like twenty years ago, when the previous mayoress had called upon great heroes for aid.

[OOC Info about Geartopia:

- Saloon and bars of all sizes. Most are comically named with an object and a color. You can find all sorts of them across town. The shadier ones can be found at the far end of the west.

- There are hotels with gear-driven pianos playing wistful tunes as you drink hard liquor made from cactus juice, honey and barley. The honey wine is especially prized and costly.

- There is also a small carnival with a steampunk and old west fair, sugar and cactus fruit pies, whole animals roasted over open pits, musicians, and a single wooden coaster. It's not much, but the food is excellent.

- Be careful, however. The cactus fruit does cause stomach aches for most people not native to this world.

- There are farms around here, if you feel like having real food and doing honest work.

- The general store has steampunk items for sale, but most of them are much too expensive for the visitors at this point. You can try to barter.

- Oh, and news travels fast. Cause problems, and the rumors will travel to the mayoress fast enough.

- Start posts with Open or Closed depending on what you want to do!

RP VISITORS NOT FROM STRINGS: Here’s your own situation: Your character showed up here anytime from the 4th to the 16th and they have no idea why. They just popped out from their own place and popped in here. HAVE FUN!]

OPEN PROMPT, CARNIVAL [OPEN TO ALL]

[personal profile] geartopia 2013-10-06 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
The first thing that you'll notice in town square is a large metal statue made of of hundreds of figures in battle poses. Some of them may even look familiar. These are members of the crew of Transmigration Nine that saved Geartopia twenty years ago.

IN HONOR OF THE GREATEST HEROES

Looks like the Visitors have big shoes to fill. Along with a stone platform where the mayoress gives speeches, the corridor on both side of the town's square is empty with 4 obsidian pillars, two to the far west and two to the far east. Two of them are barely standing and have been broken.

The carnival is currently situated to the south.

At nighttime, you can catch glowing fireflies in the air. They tend to latch on to people's hair. And for those from Hinoto-Ri, the 13th hour is mercifully absent.

100% Open

Popped out of one place and into another? That's his daily life.

There was one factor, though, that came across as odd to him. This place did seem...more involved than the usual demiplane or sealed space he often found himself in. Like there was more substance to it. Something in the air, perhaps; he could feel it. On the one hand, it could still be true that his senses were misfiring and giving him incorrect information, but if not...well, then this could promise to be an interesting day.

So, for all appearances, what you've got here is an ordinary (and possibly teenagerish) shirt-and-jeans human being, strolling leasurely about the desert town with his hands in his pockets like this whole situation's nothing at all.

(( OOCness: sorry to the modfolk about posting in the wrong place before. Got kinda confused back there. ='D ))

After her initial confusion, Amane immediately set out to gather information and observe the people in this strange city. She already knew she was no longer in Tokyo, by the very fact there's no lockdown, demons prowling the streets or how the city looked different from the wrecked state the lockdown caused.

Some people may find themselves being approached by a teenage girl in the most unusual outfit, asking for a moment of their time to answer her questions.

[Agatha can be found in several places on that first day in Geartopia.

Her first order of business is to examine the monoliths that seem to be the source of all this trouble. Unfortunately, the locals would probably not like her doing any in depth study of something that was clearly so important to them. Especially considering that she might damage them. And cursory examination yields nothing.

Next thing to do is explore the town. She doesn't know how long she's going to be here, so she needs to find a place to stay. And a way to earn enough money to stay there. Luckily she has a skill set that should be in high demand in a place like this. So she can be found at the local blacksmith's, and the machine shop, asking if they could use an extra pair of hands for a while.

And later on, with all that taken care of, she can be found at one of the taverns. Having a cup of tea and asking around about any other strange occurrences that might have set off this unusual chain of events. ]

[Now, here's a thing. Unlike skullman up there? This lad is very lost and almost certainly more than a little distressed. He would've been in a complete panic if this'd happened back when he was still new to this phenomenon.]

[Now he's in somewhere like the Old West with all kinds of different people walking around -- and, naturally, there's no explanation in sight. Len hasn't even managed the courage to ask anyone about his current situation.]

[The best thing to do, then, is head somewhere public...maybe one of the watering holes or something, whatever they're called here. Maybe someone in an official position knows.]

[Although, honestly, a stranger with a friendly enough demeanor will also suffice.]

[The transition from here to there jolted Minato out of his nap. He had no idea where he was, but it could be quickly concluded that this wasn't Mayfield. If anything, it could be a stunt by several people who wanted to take full advantage of their power in Newfield. Monoliths, saloons, hotels, and a carnival...maybe someone was bored and wanted to create their own "event", for nostalgia's sake.

At least there seems to be no real danger yet. So he'll wander around the area trying to find someone familiar. He will stop by the carnival eventually. But for now he's trying to get his bearings straight, and will be asking around for information.]

[A small silver-haired boy is cautiously inching around the carnival, ducking behind stalls that are taller than him to avoid getting caught. The last thing he wants is to be taken back to the orphanage before he gets to see everything. He's amazed by all the sights, and wants nothing more than to share them with his sister and his best friend.

But where are they? Maybe he lost them... He'll look for them first, and then they can all play together!]

And Billy had hoped he'd finally been returned to a somewhat stable way of life. It had been at least a year since his last fling in the multiverse, and surely that had been a safe amount of time to return to his modest dreams of becoming one of Earth's top engineers, right?

Apparently not.

He found himself plagued by teleportation-inspired nausea for the first time in quite a while, tumbling out into a desert world while dressed entirely inappropriately. No, his mechanic's coveralls certainly did not work for the desert, and he soon tied the top part around his waist and pushed his goggles atop his head.

He'd meant to ask the first person he saw for answers, but this first encounter was with something entirely different: likenesses of people who happened to be close friends from his former adventure.

After receiving the explanation for that curious phenomenon, Billy settled into one of the nicer looking bars. Not his natural habitat, but he'd learned that it was a fairly good place to pick up further information. Perhaps he'd encounter some of the newest batch of visitors to this world.

"Salutations," he'd say, with just a tinge of self-awareness.

[personal profile] floreatnoctem 2013-10-06 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh absolutely not.

[This may be the tower, this may not- but either way, she certainly wasn't going to walk around looking like a Wild Wild West extra. Chidori stares at the vest she's given with no small measure of distaste and picks up a pair of scissors and something to sew with from the tables where the alterations are being done and disappears into the nearest place she can find where she can get a room in which she won't be disturbed. It takes a fair bit of time, given that she hasn't got a machine to work with, but eventually she returns in something slightly more her style in which to wander the town.]

Hecate.

[The persona in question doesn't appear, but she doesn't want her to. She only wants one thing, and that is-]

Scan for the boys. I'm going to go see what I can find out.

[Minako is rocking her new steampunk outfit, even if she does think the goggles look a little silly. Especially combined with the hat! She actually ends up abandoning the hat and perches the goggles on top of her head.

Once that is settled, she sets out to explore the immediate area, following the map. Anyone she happens to run into and recognizes will end up dragged invited along as well. Hinoto-ri doesn't give many chances for out-of-town vacations, and Minako wants to enjoy this one as much as she can.]

The Major | Hellsing | Open

[personal profile] sturmbahnfuhrer 2013-10-06 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[When the Major had imagined what would await him beyond, once his world had been finished and the remnant of his mortal coil broken upon the floor of his zeppelin, this had not been what he had imagined. Truth be told, the Major hadn't been sure exactly what would have been to come. Hellfire? Nothingness? Perhaps a true battle field, with war never unending, like he had always thought impossible and a foolish lie of a dead culture, but had tucked away in his heart as secretly being true and what he would be granted for his actions.

Who was to say this couldn't be a new battlefield. Life was here, and with life came conflict. Came resentment, and anger, and distrust. Where there was life, war was inevitably soon to follow.

The place itself was quaint. No. That wasn't really the weird, with all the incongruities of the place. But it was the best the Major could think of at the moment. The place amused and entertained him. He'd have preferred to have been left in his own clothing, certainly, but it was a problem of little importance when there was so much to see. When there were so many to listen to, and snoop on.

The little man with an off-putting grin is everywhere. He stalks the carnival constantly, stopping for a little bit to eat one of the snacks he's bought before he continues walking. He always has some piece of food on him, a sweet or bit of meat he's bought on the grounds, to the point where it seems that his eating merely spawns more food for him.

He says hello to people constantly. Asks them how their day is. Interjects in conversations clearly not meant for him. Surely it'll bother others. But he doesn't care.

At the moment he's taken a bit by the items in the general store. He himself was never a scientist, never fully able to comprehend and work with machines in the way the Dok could. But the Major still held a deep regard for science, especially for contraptions and machines.

What could he say? In a one, one could say he felt a certain kinship towards them.]

Goddammit!

[After having his last living thought be fear and pain as he'd had his skull caved in, it'd be easy to see how Kinshiro Morooka had had better days. The western outfit he was wearing, and pulling at the collar of in disgust?

Not making it much better.]

What is this? Some kind of prank? Oh, when I find the assholes responsible for this one....

[His voice is like a weiner dog that had been trained to be an attack animal, a mimicry of the ferocity he could conjure in his classroom than more honest. He laughs a bit at the end of his statement, attempting to compound how angry he is but the shakiness of it undermines it. Shows just what he's doing.

It's a prank. Of course it is. He was knocked out by some punk ass with a bat or a club and they stole his clothes and put this crap on him. All these people are in on it, a bunch of idiot kids and friends and adults who are enablers to the idiot kids and their degenerate ways.

It's a prank. A joke. Their way of trying to fuck with him. He isn't dead.

He isn't dead.

King Moron walks and glowers at everyone he meets, head bent down slightly, protectively. Who knows if one of these punks really could be dangerous if they were crazy enough to go this far to pull a stunt of this level on him. He's keeping a look out for anyone he knows, especially any of the little bastards who might be from his class.

But he'll happily take the time to chide any child or teenager he sees who he thinks is doing something wrong. Or who might just be in his way at the moment. And sometimes, he just looks at one of the people around him and, unable to take it, shouts]

All he'd wanted to do was skip out on the mandatory (and oh so dangerous) training exercises at camp for the day, maybe take a little nap... And when he awoke, he found himself in this bizarre place, and not a familiar face in sight. Gods, what had he done to deserve this?

The strange people, strange buildings, and copious amounts of machinery all said one thing to Yarne: Danger. But the last of the Taguel wasn't going to go out in a place like this, oh no, not if he could help it.

So Yarne decided to do what he did best: running and hiding. You might find the bunnyman cowering behind some of the nearby scenery and failing to blend in. Or if you're really lucky, you might find yourself getting bumped into by a panicking Yarne as he runs from whatever new 'danger' has caught his eye now.]

Butterfly Man officially sucks.

He was going about life as usual when he was pulled to this curious place, and while he realizes immediately that it can't just be a prank (it would require far too many funds to waste on such a trivial thing), he's still rather at a loss as to what all of this could be.

But if he just stands around, he's not exactly going to get any answers, now is he?

So, with a friendly expression on his face, he'll go ahead and approach anyone nearby.

He looked really absurd in that get-up. He got rid of the shoes at the first available opportunity, and the hat didn't survive for much longer thanks to his running around town. It's quite impressive, watching this tiny blue hedgehog zip to and fro, but he's still something of an amateur at this running around thing. Yeah, she doesn't have to be here, she could just as easily stay behind in Hinoto-Ri, but the fact of the matter is that Kris is way too much of a Protagonist to sit around and ignore a call for help. Plus the outfits are pretty neat.
