The Mayoress keeps her word, and the Visitors are whisked away and changed into more suitable clothing for this world, free of charge. As they step down from the portal -- a stark contrast to the last time it was used, a giant man standing easily over eight feet tall and resembling a mammoth takes out a piece of string and measures everyone for their complimentary hat, vest, goggles and boots, as a small team works nearby to adjust the sizes of the materials they already have. It's rather interesting to see them at work, cutting with iron scissors - a spiderlady using her own silken string along with a robot aide to patch things up. Before long, you are given an outfit that's been tailor-fit for you.

Hopefully you aren't too arachnophobic, she's a nice old lady.

Once that's all done, the Mayoress speaks up.

"Come with us, please!"

Robotic horses and chariots draw them into the middle of the town, as a small map is given to everyone, but it's overly simple at best.

As they arrive in the town square, a look around reveals that the people here seem to be a mixture of humans, humanoid animals that have evolved, and robots. The feeling is very Old West, but with it all kept at a simple level despite the advance technology present. Compared to Hinoto-Ri and its lights, bright city and atmosphere, Geartopia feels like it falls on the opposite end of the spectrum. There's barely anything that would make you think of a modern city.

Which is why those that don't look like they belong stand out even more than you do.

Confused people from various worlds, not meant to have landed here... but currently with no way to go home, are stuck in Geartopia, violently torn from whatever they had been doing.

"We ain't sure what happened," she tells the Visitors, shaking her head. "But the past three days have been nothin' more than a giant mess! And they keep pilin' up. We need you to help us figure out what's happenin’!"

As they continue towards the town's center, she gives a bit more explanation: Once, long ago, Geartopia was built by aliens visiting the planet that granted intelligence to some native species. That includes her kind! The giant black obsidian monoliths humming precariously outside of town are an example of that. Normally the rocks only work when they need to contact other worlds. Three days ago, they started to glow, and that's when others began to appear here. People that had not been planned for. And they were still coming in, too...

The technology the elder aliens left them allows them to contact other planets during times of distress, but otherwise, there is nothing futuristic going on - the aliens wanted it this way and for the most part, the population respects this. Most of the area is dry and arid, with very tiny grass and shrubs growing over the hill, and, strangely enough, an area from town that is densely populated by forest.

They'll need your strange and powerful manpower in the upcoming days… just like twenty years ago, when the previous mayoress had called upon great heroes for aid.

[OOC Info about Geartopia:

- Saloon and bars of all sizes. Most are comically named with an object and a color. You can find all sorts of them across town. The shadier ones can be found at the far end of the west.

- There are hotels with gear-driven pianos playing wistful tunes as you drink hard liquor made from cactus juice, honey and barley. The honey wine is especially prized and costly.

- There is also a small carnival with a steampunk and old west fair, sugar and cactus fruit pies, whole animals roasted over open pits, musicians, and a single wooden coaster. It's not much, but the food is excellent.

- Be careful, however. The cactus fruit does cause stomach aches for most people not native to this world.

- There are farms around here, if you feel like having real food and doing honest work.

- The general store has steampunk items for sale, but most of them are much too expensive for the visitors at this point. You can try to barter.

- Oh, and news travels fast. Cause problems, and the rumors will travel to the mayoress fast enough.

The first thing that you'll notice in town square is a large metal statue made of of hundreds of figures in battle poses. Some of them may even look familiar. These are members of the crew of Transmigration Nine that saved Geartopia twenty years ago.

IN HONOR OF THE GREATEST HEROES

Looks like the Visitors have big shoes to fill. Along with a stone platform where the mayoress gives speeches, the corridor on both side of the town's square is empty with 4 obsidian pillars, two to the far west and two to the far east. Two of them are barely standing and have been broken.

The carnival is currently situated to the south.

At nighttime, you can catch glowing fireflies in the air. They tend to latch on to people's hair. And for those from Hinoto-Ri, the 13th hour is mercifully absent.

[Sasha, as expected, jumped at the opportunity to investigate another world. Right now, she's staring at the statue, sketching it out and taking notes.]

I wonder who these heroes are...

[There's a quiet rustling heard from behind - if Sasha turns to look, she'll see a cloaked man carrying a drill-tipped staff. He moves close until he's standing beside her. He smirks, then points his staff in the direction of the statue.]

Legend has it that these folks saved reality as we know it.

A dark-haired man, dressed almost head to toe in black body armor, looked up a statue that looked marginally like himself. In one hand it held a weapon very much like the sidearm currently holstered to his side. In the other, as if offered up to the sky, was a disembodied robot arm.

Perched magnificently on his shoulder, wings spread, was a statuesque metal parrot.

"How did they roll these things out so fast?" Zouichi asked, frowning rather critically at his own likeness. It clearly didn't look anything like him. Why, he hadn't even gotten to keep that robot arm! But they had done an excellent job capturing Alan. Very lifelike.

After landing face-first on the barren soil of a new planet, Billy was taking his time investigating a very suspicious phenomenon. Trapped alone in a new place again, he'd felt fear---but not everything here was unknown to him, as he soon discovered. He'd set off to start asking questions about this town, but he'd been stopped in his tracks by a series of likenesses. Not just any likenesses, but familiar ones. These weren't just any ancient heroes, they were:

Allenby. Jamie. Kaylee. Kang. And many more.

Friends from many worlds who were all gathered in one place once, the same as him. These statues were a sign that his past had crossed paths with this place once, but how?

His investigation was helped along by a familiar face appearing around the corner---a name that hadn't been on the forefront of his mind, but he remembered. Zouichi.

Billy blinked once, twice, then shook his head.

"You're here too? Well...obviously you are, that's a silly question. But have you seen anyone else?"

Eikichi had no idea what he had expected by showing up here. After visiting the tower he had been less than excited about going anywhere else but cowboys.... The entire issue was a little too fishy as far as he was concerned, but he had managed to calm down once he had been given a free outfit. However, nothing had prepared him to see a guy to look exactly like the statue to show up.

"You look...just like the guy with the parrot!"

Yes, how very observant of him.

[It was warmer than he expected it to be. But he wasn't entirely sure what he should have expected after apparently entering another world. After dealing with phenomena like a hidden hour filled with blood and a green-hued sky and a whale that shed feathers, Akihiko wanted to believe that nothing could faze him anymore.

Not that his belief meant much in the face of a complicated world. Or a complicated other world, for that matter.

He tilted his head and looked at the fireflies around, a gloved hand darting out to catch one. As he focused intently on trying to see if the insect indeed looked like a normal firefly from back home, he failed to notice other fireflies descending to alight on his silvery hair.]

"You've got a bug on you," Atom said helpfully, figuring that Akihiko would want to be notified of the insect-load statistics of his hair. "Right here. Actually, they seem to like you a lot!"

Atom had somehow managed to procure a jar, in which several fireflies were now safely ensconced. Little holes had been poked into the top, just in case.

[Care to have a blast from the past?

It's getting dark, but Akihiko isn't thinking about going back to the orphanage. There's still so much to see. All the delicious-smelling food makes his little tummy growl, but he doesn't have money to buy them. Still, he's having fun just taking in the sights. He isn't going to leave without Miki and Shinji, anyway.

When Akihiko spots the fireflies landing in the older man's hair, his mouth falls open a little in awe. What a neat trick! Can he get fireflies to land in his hair too? Then maybe Miki won't be scared of the dark anymore!

He trails after the man, but doesn't say anything to really give his presence away. He's much shyer at this age, more unsure of himself, especially without Shinji around to back him up.]

[It is pretty damn hot. That might be why he was persuaded to leave his coat behind when they had arrived. Or maybe because he gave just enough of the damn to care about blending in some that he had decided to meet the people running the place halfway, if only so he didn't have to be stared at longer than he had to. Still, keeps his typical wear besides. Long-sleeved turtleneck, boots, and jeans. His hat. The only thing that's changed much is the vest that doesn't have pockets deep enough for him.

He's lost track of where the others went, but they can keep track of themselves. And this place doesn't make him feel ill-at-ease like that shitty tower had. It's different in that this world isn't acting like it fully intends to kill you. So he wanders around, keeping to the edges of wherever he goes so he can get a look around without drawing much in the way of attention because he doesn't want it. (Even with just the vest on, he feels ridiculous without his coat, like he's lacking something, and everyone else can see it just as well as he can.)

Then, as he strides up a path, distracted somewhat by the glow of fireflies, his eyes immediately latch onto something familiar, a shock of silver and a face that's different—older—even though he recognizes with ease.

Aki?

Shinjiro stares ahead for a few seconds more, pace slowing. He's sure, but at the same time, he knows better than to expect things to be true upon first glance. ...Though if it wasn't Aki, then that was some copy.

He's not sure what to say, exactly, as he walks closer—it's been seven months for him—but he has at least the benefit to understand the shit that comes with timelines. And the fact it might not even be Aki at all, even if it looks a hell of a lot like him given a few more years.]

Hey!

[So he says little, voice a sharp almost-growl. And if something isn't true or how it should be, he can walk away and leave Aki's eerie doppelgänger behind.]

[Minako should be watching where she's going, but there's a lot to see - and the fireflies are a bit distracting. She's trying to walk and catch one at the same time, which just results in her running backwards into a stranger. Akihiko is probably unharmed, but Minako will end up falling over unless he manages to catch her.]

Oh- I'm sorry! That was my fault!

As much as she didn't want to be here after what had happened in Animus months ago, Miki had followed Minako and Shinjiro into this world. It was warm, which was nice. She had never been a huge fan of cowboys, but the place did have an interesting charm and it was welcome after living in the city.

When night had come, mercifully free of creatures, the 13th or the dark hour, she realizes just how different it was, as fireflies had filled the night sky.

It looked amazing and serene. She had forgotten what nights were like without the extra hour when the world turned upside down and monstrous. Like a small child, she ran towards the bugs, watching them scatter. Some of them flew into her hair, but others still went to the other nearby civilians. Like the hair of someone close by, and she follows them, only to take a step back when she realizes who the silver hair belongs to. It's not quite like she saw him in Hinoto-Ri...

Why he looks just like...but he wasn't...but older....and....?!?

"N-no way...that can't be..." Maybe her mind is playing tricks on her, but even now, Miki already knows that's not right. She continues to stare at him, trying to close her mouth in surprise, but finding herself unable to do so.

"Master, I'm unable to obtain any data on our current location."

He had to press the button. Again and again and again.

But no worries, right? This has to be Tokyo...in some way, shape, or form. Demons seem to be few here, and those he sees -- humanoid animal people mistaken -- are very tame.

Surely the Unclean Ones here would be approachable and provide some direction.

"Excuse me...?"

[It's nighttime, and you can find Sam, sitting next to the statue and looking completely unhappy with all of this. He's ditched the hat and unbuttoned the vest, though he's keeping the goggles and boots...for now. Really, this was not his idea of a vacation, even though, judging by the small pile of various doodads next to him, he's already started "borrowing" stuff from the local populace.]

[In the heat, his greasy mop of hair only seems even greasier- it's sticking to his face. He lets out a frustrated sigh, mumbling to himself:]

God...what I'd do for a pool or a lake or something...it's way too hot.

Just to prove it, she hefts up a man wearing a labcoat.

[This guy on the other hand seems to be doing just fine, although that might have to do with arriving in normal clothes. Older in fashion than Hizumi's usual fare by a generation or so, but still very much workable.]

He's currently looking longingly at the many carnival snacks that surround him, completely oblivious to the number of fireflies that have decided to descend upon his hair--and mustache.

[ Mirai has concluded that her kidnapping has been caused by spirits. Perhaps not by Youmu but something else entirely. If it is a monster from the spirit world, she can't sense it. That leaves Mirai feeling even more on edge. If she can't sense it, how will she be able to defend herself?

That can all wait though. There are more pressing matters. ]

...Cactus fruit?

[ Mirai has been staring at a sign labeled Homemade Cactus Pies for a couple of minutes. The vendor of the pie shop is starting to get suspicious, and who can blame her? Mirai may not be the most eccentric person but with that sour look on her face anyone might do a double-take.

Her stomach's rumbling. She'll have to figure all of this out soon...

Quickly she spins around and looks dead center at someone passing by. The force from her spinning around makes her glasses tilt to one side. ]

Is the cactus a fruit?

[...Well, one of 'em did, for a moment. There was a stitch in time where he'd felt absolute certainty that one of the metallic forms had been forged in his likeness. Which would've been funny, since Transmigration Nine didn't ring any bells - even with as many stretches of cosmos as he'd covered. That doesn't mean necessarily mean anything; even had his perception been true, we could've talking about an alternate self, or maybe the result of some time loop something-or-other.]

[That form up there did still give him image-self vibes, if he stared at it long enough. When you get down to it, the whole thing was probably nothing. Maybe the trans-dimensional teleport lag was still messing with his head, making him see things, or maybe that time stitch - if it existed somewhere outside his perception - really did have some data of its own.]

[Interesting, but not the most important thing to the here-and-now. Then again, he was rather short on those at the moment, so he was content to stand there mulling over the curiosity of it. Certain things were just fun to think about.]

[And part of the joy in bein' one of these human-types, after all, was the ability to think.]

With his Auspex, the light from the fireflies and the nearby buildings is as good as daylight to Maugris. He looks over the statues - nothing looks familiar, but the sheer number of them says that either the people in this town take their debts very seriously, or that was a very serious debt they owed.

After a little while, the vampire turns and sits on the edge of the statue's base. He takes off the hat he was given and sets it beside him, then cranes his head back for an upside-down look at the face of the statue right behind him. "Wonder if Hinoto-Ri will have a statue like this someday. It'd be nice to do something for people who are actually allowed to find out about it."

Bitter? Him? No, not at all.

[Cactus fruit pie...nah, last time he ate an unfamiliar pie, it didn't taste that great. (Even if he tried to be polite and lie.)

At night, having nothing better to do, he just stares at the fireflies, not even flinching when they settle in his hair. It's been a very long day for him, and he just wants to rest.]

[Conner Kent is...confused, to say the least, and when Conner Kent gets confused, he gets angry. This could be because he's stuck in a steampunky westerny place without his friends, or just because the last time that he was put in a situation like this, everyone's memories were erased and he went back to being a mindless rage machine. In any case, the young man will sulk around, not saying too much until he comes up to the large statue.]

Greatest heroes, huh? These don't look like the Justice League.
