Summary: Akihiko Sanada arrives from the Tower of Animus which means he needs a new body.

Sector F Level 4B-Room 2.

The area looked more like a science lab than an actual room. Numerous tubes were surrounding Akihiko, along with monitors of every type and subject. And that was for the medical part. What was more, candles and strange summoning circles and items were surrounding the bed as well, as medical met mystical in a strange array. Hinoto-Ri had perfected their arts, but they still had a long way to go.

"He's still rather weak," a voice above him said, distorted. "Did you send the message to his relatives?"

"Yes. I believe a positive experience may jolt him out of of the vegetative state he's now in."

"I wonder if he hears us. Damn Visitor should appreciate what we're doing."

"Dr.Stein, please remember that we are men of cloth sword to heal and protect as much as we can. This includes Visitor and Demons."

"I know. I know. I'm sorry. Let's leave him be and we can preform most tests later."

She jumps up at the reaction from him, even if it's just his hand moving against hers for a few brief seconds. The monitors around her beep and show an increase of...something, she has no idea. Miki had never been a fan of hospitals, especially after what had happened.

Her second hand clasps around the first one, and she puts her head against it, her shoulders shaking slightly as she tries to fight back the tears.

"I don't know what happened...But I'm here now, okay? So please Aki, please wake up..."

Motion sensors, no doubt. Akihiko learned when Shinjiro was comatose that even the most subtle movements would set them off. Funny he'd be hooked up to them too, not that he currently realizes it. Miki's warm hands cupped around his make his fingers wriggle even more, until they combs Miki's and weakly hold in place.

Akihiko groans, his eyes fluttering open to a bunch of bright, blobby shapes and colors. Now there's a whole lot of beeping.

That jolts her upright, as she looks over at them thinking she might have accidentally set off some alarms or something or he's entering cardiac arrest and--no she needs to believe in her brother and not assume the worse, as hard as it might be. She tries to give him encouraging words as she claps that hand even tighter.

"Come on you dumbass, get up! Stop making everyone worry!"

Okay, she might have gotten that from Shinjiro.

It's a voice he won't soon forget. Even when she left, it gave him hope in that horrible tower. Tartarus was a cakewalk compared to life there.

He shifts a little more, a shiver running down his back as things begin to take focus. He doesn't know whether to be happy or concerned.

He's in a hospital room. He must have been experimented on somehow. What would it be this time? A mutant arm? Some strange power? Maybe something beyond his comprehension.

But Miki's there. He met her a few weeks ago, in his sense of time, when she was transported there with Shinjiro. Why was she back? Did Ruana do this?

There was no way they were going to experiment on his sister. They may have gotten to him, but he didn't want her to see the same fate.

"Miki, save yourself."

"...!" She lost her voice for a few seconds, unsure how to answer that. He knew her. He knew who was standing over him, but as relief flooded her, so did intense worry. Why was he warning her? What had happened?

"What do you mean, Aki? Who did this to you?"

"Wh-whoever's in charge of the tower...nnghh..." He wants to get up, but he can't. "Hurry before they see you here. I'll be okay." He tries to sound as reassuring as possible despite his weakness, looking around at the paraphernalia and assuming horrible things.

"The tower...." she repeats confused before it dawns on her. "...THE TOWER!" Oh gods, this was the Akihiko she met in that awful place more than half a year ago! No wonder he recognized her...but why is he attached to so many machines in that case? It makes no sense.

"Aki...you're not in the tower anymore," she managed to say softly, squeezing his hand for comfort. "You're in Hinoto-Ri. The city I talked to you about..."

He wasn't in the tower anymore? How was that possible? Did they screw up? Maybe instead of pulling in someone new, they ejected him instead? He would never know, but he was no longer there. He was free. He could only hope everyone else would be alright and find freedom as well.

He manages a smile for his sister despite the discomfort. When he consciously swallows, there is no collar rubbing against his neck. No awkward sensation of tubes in his neck either. It should feel good, but it feels strange.

"Hinoto-Ri, huh?" He can relax a little bit. For once, the bed feels nice. The temperature is normal, though a bit on the cool side. There's no stagnant haze. It's a calm he hasn't experienced in a while. "Looks like you're stuck with me now." He can also joke a bit.

If he meant "please cry on top of me like a scared little kid cause you're too happy to see your brother", then Miki certainly delivered. Her gross sobs caused for her to sniffle rather loudly in her blazer more than once.

"Y-you're really here!"

Living up to the Sanada name alright. Aki watches her sympathetically. Maybe he'll just...try to get his arms around her. She needs a hug.

"I thought I'd never see you again."

"I can't believe you're from that horrible place...I'm so glad you showed up here." There was a pit of worry inside of her. He'd better not return there, or else she'd have to find a way to cut his strings or something.

But she put on a brave face for him.

"It's been months since it happened, but I promised myself I'd never forget about you and how you were still fighting in there despite all that they had done to you. It made me stronger and I wanted to fight here too..." Now she was just spilling out her life story to him. Woops.

"I just hope everyone else there is okay."

She became stronger because of meeting him? That makes his day. He wants to get up and walk out of there and train with her and-

Well, as soon as his body cooperated with him. He stops squirming and frowns, accepting the fact that a discharge is likely not going to happen right now. Akihiko's never been good about bed rest, even when his injuries landed him an overnight stay at Tatsumi Memorial.

"If you got out, that means there is a way to leave, right? We have to put our trust in them that they'll beat it too."

That included everyone else she met there. Even Jin. The last memories of that tower would haunt her forever.

"That still doesn't explain why you're in the hospital but...wait. No, don't speak right now. I don't want to overwork you..." Even if she wanted to hear more of his voice, she shouldn't. Her hands tighten around his again.

He nods, letting himself relax again. He looks up at the ceiling, then at Miki once more. One more question. "So when do I get out of here?" For as many times as he's been in the hospital, he still finds it hard to be there.

"I...don't know," she admits, looking up at the ceiling herself. "I just got here a few minutes ago when they contacted us. Minako and Shinjiro are waiting outside right now. They'll probably be wanting to talk more with you, now that your up."

She had no idea if he had awoken before that or not. Freeing one hand long enough, she sniffed and used her sleeve to wipe away her tears.

"Hey Aki...I'm glad you're here." She couldn't say this enough.

"Oh." He'll try to stay awake, then. He may know something important that they need to ask him about. It'll be nice to see Minako and Shinji again, too.

He looks her in the eyes, another smile spreading across his face. "Don't worry, I'll...I'll protect you." He wouldn't waste this chance. So long as he was here, he would be the big brother he was meant to be. "I'm not weak anymore."

Dammit Aki, she had promised herself to stop crying there and then but as soon as he said that, the tears just came back.

"H-hey," she protested, "You were never weak to me. And I'll make sure to protect you too."
