The Fall of Passholdt [Closed]

What: The trapezohedron is acting up again, and four lucky winners get a free trip to see the final days of Passholdt. That is unless they do something about it.
Where: The town of Passholdt
Warnings: Monsters, mad science, possibly revenants. Also bracket spam because I'm lazy.

[Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, you felt a sudden and strange pull. The next thing you know, a flash of light washes across your vision. When it clears, you find yourself next to the gate of a large, walled town nestled in between several high mountains. Behind you is a canyon, with a single bridge reaching across and connecting the town to the road of the other side. Looking up, you can see a sign above the gate. Passholdt.

The town itself is bustling with activity, people buying, selling, working, cleaning.... All the things that make up a normal day. Careful observation will reveal that both the architecture and clothing are old fashioned. Anyone with enough familiarity with history might place them in the late nineteenth century.

What do you do?]

For the purposes of general roleplaying, feel free to assume that the town has all of the things a normal European town from the 1890's would have. The local specialty is fried creme. Hopefully Sarah's formal battle attire of bright crimson greatcoat and pants won't stand out too badly.

She can't really do anything about her massive, crossbow-shaped gun, of course. For now, at least, she'll just look around, trying to spot anyone she recognizes or at least someone as obviously out of place as she is.

[...What?]

[He was just munching on a fish taken from the local market when it felt like a hand had reached down and pulled him into a white light...and now he's in a place that is definitely not Hinoto-Ri.]

[He gulps the rest of the fish down, frowning at the gate and the canyon behind him. Passholdt, the sign says. The word is familiar...but he doesn't remember why, at the moment.]

Great. Not again. I hate these field trips...

[He'll be found around town, looking at the locals with a wary gaze as stands near one of the stalls selling clothes - he's murmuring to himself and very much sticking out, with his leather jacket and blue jeans.]

I wonder where everybody else is...don't they bring a lot of people on these things...?

[The more M'gann gets pulled into strange new places, the more she appreciates her shape shifting powers. She is currently in her human form and has changed into a more period appropriate outfit. Now all that's left is to find someone who knows what's going on this time. Thankfully one person in the town square stands out.]

So, did you come from Hinoto-Ri too?

Huh?

[He looks up from his frustrated reverie, and...well, on the outfit, he would say she's a local, but she's asking about a very familiar city, indeed.]

Y-yes. I did. You came too, right? [He sighs, though he looks more relieved.] Well, at least I'm not alone...have you see any others? Do you know what this place is?

I haven't seen anyone else yet, and the only thing I know about our location is that it's called Passholdt. Nothing unusual seems to be happening, but based on our luck I bet something is brewing below the surface.

Yeah, that's what it always seems like with these things.

[He scratches the back of his neck, frowning.]

I can't help thinking that I've heard of Passholdt before...like somebody said something about it to me not too long ago.

[M'gann thinks hard about who that could have been. She hasn't heard the name before but after looking at the local's style one name pops to mind.]

Was it Agatha? Scientist girl, lives in a spooky castle?

Y-yes! Yes, that's it! Agatha...yeah, she mentioned that name. [But that causes him to shake his head, looking concerned.]

You...you don't think we're in her world, do you?

At this point I'd say that's a pretty solid guess. Do you remember what exactly Agatha said about Passholdt? If you can't remember that even the tone could be helpful, was she happy about it?

[No more than Fumi's JP's uniform. Which is to say, they probably both stand out quite a bit. Sarah will catch Fumi wandering around the village square looking more than a little irritated with the situation.]

Of course this would happen again. It's not as if I was in the middle of some important research.

Oh hey, someone dressed like a normal person. Sarah will just prop the barrel of her gun on her shoulder and head over.

"Hello."

I think she talked about people having "Sparks"...kind of like geniuses, but more like having it as a superpower than just being really smart. I mean, she didn't seem to have a bad opinion of it...but she did say that this place had tons of gadgets and inventions. No TV, though...

Ah, so you've been roped into this too, I see.

[Still irritated over here. She's going to be a bit of a pill until she calms down.]

Sarah's dealt with prickly people before, and the sheer comfort of being around someone sensibly dressed is worth putting up with a little attitude.

"Lieutenant Sarah Snowdon, callsign Owl. What's your name?"

Fumi Kanno.

[She folds her arms, looking around.]

So, it seems that stone of Kandori's is acting up again. I wonder what it is we're here to do.

Sarah frowns briefly, casting through her recent memory - oh, right. Kandori. He had been there when she arrived from Geartopia.

"That's the guy with the sunglasses and more influence than he should probably be trusted with, right? When you say it's his stone, do you mean he's researching it or that he's controlling it?"

Her fingers are drumming softly against the handle of the gun as she asks this question.

Yes, that's the one. He's in charge of the research team responsible for studying the stone. He's also currently the man signing my paychecks, so the gun won't be necessary.

The drumming stops.

"Ah. Should we see if anyone else got dragged here?"

I suppose so. It's likely there are others.

"If they stick out as badly as we do, it should be a simple matter to find them."

It's highly likely. I don't recall seeing anyone in Hinoto-Ri aside from Agatha who dresses from this particular time period, and if she were here, we'd already know.

That's kind of weird. Anyway, if something is going on here we should try to find out what it is. Maybe someone at Town Hall could help us.

"What time period is this, anyway?"

If I had to guess, I'd place it somewhere in the Victorian era. Although I suppose to find out for sure, we need only ask.

[Fumi gestures toward the various peasants bustling about.]

Sarah doesn't really understand what the 'Victorian Era' is, but that doesn't really matter. Reaching out with her free hand, she grabs a random passerby.
