What: The trapezohedron is acting up again, and four lucky winners get a free trip to see the final days of Passholdt. That is unless they do something about it.
Where: The town of Passholdt
Warnings: Monsters, mad science, possibly revenants. Also bracket spam because I'm lazy.

[Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, you felt a sudden and strange pull. The next thing you know, a flash of light washes across your vision. When it clears, you find yourself next to the gate of a large, walled town nestled in between several high mountains. Behind you is a canyon, with a single bridge reaching across and connecting the town to the road of the other side. Looking up, you can see a sign above the gate. Passholdt.

The town itself is bustling with activity, people buying, selling, working, cleaning.... All the things that make up a normal day. Careful observation will reveal that both the architecture and clothing are old fashioned. Anyone with enough familiarity with history might place them in the late nineteenth century.

What do you do?]

{{OOC: Basically just tag away. I'll be keeping tabs on it, and whenever you reach something that requires my input (Like talking to townsfolk, exploring various areas in detail, etc.) I'll chime in. For the purposes of general roleplaying, feel free to assume that the town has all of the things a normal European town from the 1890's would have. The local specialty is fried creme. [No more than Fumi's JP's uniform. Which is to say, they probably both stand out quite a bit. Sarah will catch Fumi wandering around the village square looking more than a little irritated with the situation.]

Of course this would happen again. It's not as if I was in the middle of some important research.

Oh hey, someone dressed like a normal person. Sarah will just prop the barrel of her gun on her shoulder and head over.

"Hello."

Ah, so you've been roped into this too, I see.

[Still irritated over here. She's going to be a bit of a pill until she calms down.]

Sarah's dealt with prickly people before, and the sheer comfort of being around someone sensibly dressed is worth putting up with a little attitude.

"Lieutenant Sarah Snowdon, callsign Owl. What's your name?"

Fumi Kanno.

[She folds her arms, looking around.]

So, it seems that stone of Kandori's is acting up again. I wonder what it is we're here to do.

Sarah frowns briefly, casting through her recent memory - oh, right. Kandori. He had been there when she arrived from Geartopia.

"That's the guy with the sunglasses and more influence than he should probably be trusted with, right? When you say it's his stone, do you mean he's researching it or that he's controlling it?"

Her fingers are drumming softly against the handle of the gun as she asks this question.

Yes, that's the one. He's in charge of the research team responsible for studying the stone. He's also currently the man signing my paychecks, so the gun won't be necessary.

The drumming stops.

"Ah. Should we see if anyone else got dragged here?"

I suppose so. It's likely there are others.

A nod.

"If they stick out as badly as we do, it should be a simple matter to find them."

It's highly likely. I don't recall seeing anyone in Hinoto-Ri aside from Agatha who dresses from this particular time period, and if she were here, we'd already know.

Sarah files the name away for future reference.

"What time period is this, anyway?"

If I had to guess, I'd place it somewhere in the Victorian era. Although I suppose to find out for sure, we need only ask.

[Fumi gestures toward the various peasants bustling about.]

Sarah doesn't really understand what the 'Victorian Era' is, but that doesn't really matter. Reaching out with her free hand, she grabs a random passerby.

"What year is this?"

[The woman blinks in surprise.]

....Eighteen ninety two.

[Her tone suggests that this is something everyone should know. She's also eying the gun with suspicion. Not confusion, because big fancy guns are not that uncommon around here, but they usually indicate a spark or one of their minions.]

That sounds about right.

[Fumi crosses her arms again, looking up and down the busy street before addressing the woman once more.]

...The two of us have just arrived from out of town. Is there anything important we should know about this place? Current events, local customs, that sort of thing?

[Subtlety is not a thing Fumi does.]

[The woman frowns slightly, but answers anyway. She already suspects these two of being a spark with her minion.]

Most of our visitors arrive earlier in the year. Harvest festival is over now. And if you want to make it through the pass before winter sets in, you'll have to hurry.

Still... if you're going to stay a while, you'd best find lodgings quickly. It'll be night soon.

What's on the other side of the pass?

[From her expression, that is another very strange question.]

Why, the eastern regions of the empire, of course. This and Balan's gap are the only reliable ways through the mountains.

[As an afterthought, she adds.]

Unless you have a dirigible.

[It's entirely possible. Especially if one of them really is a spark.]

Only a phoenix, unfortunately. And it only seats one.

[Ah. Definitely a spark then. Which means that the prudent thing to do is back away slowly.]

Ah, yes. That does sound troublesome. Anyway, I really must be going now.

[With a polite nod of her head, she excuses herself. After a few steps though, she does turn back and offer one last bit of advice.]

You really ought to find somewhere stay before it gets dark. The streets aren't safe at night.

[And with that, she leaves.]

Sarah eyes Fumi, thinking over that last sentence and the circumstances of their arrival.

"I'm giving it...60% odds that this town has some kind of monster infestation."

At least, yes. That, or they're expecting one soon. But for now, we probably should find a place to stay. Presumably if others have been brought here, they'll eventually have the same idea.

Sarah is absently tracing a circle on the handle of her gun with her thumb as she looks around.

"Good idea. The important stuff is usually near the center of town, so it shouldn't take long to find a place."

[And now, for the sake of argument, I figure we can just fast-forward them to an inn and wait for the other group to get to the same point and then pick up as one thread.]
