Shichi-Go-San

▼ Shichi-Go-San

Who: Anyone
Where: Capricorn Park
When: The 15th of November-18th!
Summary: A strange feeling, a message sent out and darkness falls.
Warnings: Stay away if you are allergic to celebrations and fun. ...Or demons.

▼ A walk in the park...

Later afternoon. The townspeople were very active in the early morning, covering most of the Central Park in the Capricorn area with festive banners and colors. What remains of the Shinoto priests who helped out are now going about their rites in preparation for today.

The children of the city are going to celebrate Shichi-Go-San. Dressed in kimonos for possibly the first time in their lives, the city has spared no expense for today's celebration. There are homemade candies that can be bought, or offered to the children themselves. If you fancy something a little more traditional, thousand year candy is also available. Parents are encouraged to dress up in kimonos as well, as are Visitors, and parents-to-be are given a small garland of flowers for their hair; a sign of hope for the city's future.

As Visitors pass by, the children wave at them excitedly. To then, you've sort of become heroes, wither you like it or not. What you may notice, however is that for the entire town's population, there isn't that many wee ones running about. Sadly, it is understandable; with such a harsh city life, the stress means that not as many children are being born as people die. However your arrival has helped raised that ratio higher and while not everyone agrees on what privileges you may or may not have, most are thankful for what you have done.

While the festival is primarily addressed to children, it is a city celebration as well; of life, of friendship and of the future. Demon and humans alike are merry for a short while together, in an area together without fighting each other, and booze is passed around (RESPONSIBLY) for the adults.

What you may do here is up to you. There are numerous donation boxes. Go up to the bell and pray for the future. Have some of the sweets and try not to get too many cavities.

...But you can't help but shake off a strange feeling that something isn't right...

[Open post mingle log! The child effects will be happening tonight after a network post, so enjoy your last relaxing day!]

Okay so.

Shura made an EFFORT today and even rented a furisode and did her hair with some of the numerous hairclips she received from her mysterious admirer to go to the temple.

There's only one problem.

She's at the bell now, holding up the queue, unable to decide who the fuck she is supposed to pray to.

He can't help but feel that there are way too many festivals in Hinoto-Ri. Destiny Islands did this stuff too, Hina Matsuri and Children's Day and all that, but Hinoto-Ri pulls out all the stops. He's bought himself a casual kimono, a black haori over grey hakama, and pulled his hair back into a loose ponytail. The pants make him think of Terra, and he can't help but smile to himself. At the shrine, he's tossed a few munny into each of the donation boxes, then moved to peer at the wall of ema with wishes scrawled on them. So many... it's kind of neat.

[Yurick is a bit put off by the kimonos, which to him look like bathing robes, but at least he's relaxed enough not to wear any armor. He's sucking idly on a fruit-flavored candy, a small bag of them tucked into one of his pouches, arms folded as he scrutinizes the ema. The tradition is totally unfamiliar, as is the language written on some of the plaques.

He catches a glimpse of another white-haired boy out of the corner of his eye and turns slightly toward him, enough for Riku to see both his patched eye and his good one.]

You know what this is all about?

Yes, actually.

[He smiles gently, lifting a hand to indicate the ema.]

These are wishes. People come to the shrine to pray, and this wall is where you can hang a wish. I don't know how effective it is, thouogh.

So naturally Hizumi can be found at the festival, sampling the sweets available. He's going in nice, if casual clothes today - somehow, he just keeps missing work a little too much to afford a proper kimono, it seems...

It would probably help if he'd stop getting in trouble so often.

He'll even toss a few coins into the donation box, clapping his hand and pausing - but his prayers are only vague ones. Good luck to the city and its children and all of that - nothing at all personal. After all, one had to be careful when it came to gods and demons here.

Still, it's nice to be recovered enough to snack on sweets again...

Aoi can be found about town, wearing one of her kimono as she joins in the festivities. To the children, she will happily wave back, offering a gentle smile to any parents who may be concerned about Visitors such as herself. Although she does check out the stalls, her interest is more in the shrine, where she makes certain to pray to the gods for Hinoto-Ri's prosperity. It's as she exits that she spots something and makes a detour towards the ema...

After all, something about today just doesn't feel right. What harm could a few more prayers do?
