Child Event and Blackout Log

Where: Around the city and in the apartments
When: November 15-18
Summary: Little kids everywhere!  Also the power grid is on the fritz.
Warnings: Hopefully none!

With the network and the city's electricity once again malfunctioning, the power to most of the city has either been knocked out or is malfunctioning.  And since inconvenient things rarely happen in a vacuum in Hinoto-Ri, a portion of the city has also been affected by some strange new curse, reverting to childlike forms.  Business in and around the city has ground to a standstill due to the power problems, and without functioning heat in the apartments, extra blankets and huddling together for warmth are the order of the day.  It's still possible to go outside as the government hasn't imposed any additional curfews, and the demons during the 13th Hour are as active as ever, but some people may just want to ride this out until everything is back to normal.

((OOC: Feel free to make your own top-level comments either mingling in your apartments or out and about in town.  The child event effects are in full swing, and taking place concurrent with the blackout from November 15th through the 18th.  Please label your posts with your character's name and location.  We apologize for the slight lateness of this log!))

"Quick, Aggie! Hop on Desco's back and she will fly you to the best ice cream place!"

THIS IS OFFICIALLY THE BEST DAY EVER.

"This is AWESOME! Okay Desco!"

Up she goes onto Desco's back let's go let's gooooo.

And with that Desco flies her over to the Shinonome Residence.

"Desco's Sis lives here, and she makes the best ice cream!"

[The lights are on, so Nano's definitely home, but she's nowhere to be found outside the house.]

That's fine, Desco wasn't going to bother looking outside anyway. She'll just barrel inside, still carrying Aggie.

"Siiiis! There is an ICE CREAM EMERGENCY!"

There is a tiny riding on Desco's back. Yep. She is grinning and waving like she hasn't a care in the world.

"Hi!"

Emergency?

[Nano comes running out of the kitchen, seemingly genuinely panicked about this purported emergency. She's probably just startled at the sudden unexpected company and loud noises.]

What happened?

"Aggie has never had ice cream before!"

Truly, the direst of all possible fates.

"I don't get why Desco thinks it's an emergency, but she's the Final Boss so I probably gotta listen to her, right?"

Infallible little kid logic, really.

[Desco no don't corrupt little kids]

That is a problem!

[Nano smiles, laughing and patting Aggie on the head.]

Have you eaten dinner yet? You know it's not good to spoil your dinner with ice cream, don't you?

[Because Nano is robomom. But hey, at least she'll probably cook them both a good meal.]

"...Desco had some light bulbs?"

This is said in her very best 'I-am-going-to-pretend-this-counts-when-it-obviously-doesn't' voice.

"I don't....think so, but I won't eat much of the ice cream, promise!"

[Nano folds her arms and shakes her head.]

No, no... you can't have your dessert until you've eaten your dinner. But you can help me in the kitchen if you want! Have you ever made rice balls before?

[tyrantball]

Wide eyes.

"Desco knows about those! Making rice balls is a secret art passed down in families, right?"

She'll just extend her tail so Aggie can slide down and retract her talons. Rice balls! Whee!

"Wheeee!"

Sliding! It's like sliding on a slide in the playground and slides are always fun. Or like fake-sliding down the stairs!

"I haven't made those before, but I wanna help!"

All right, let's get started, then!

[Nano smiles at them both, leading them into the kitchen. She pulls a small wooden stool over to the sink.]

I'll get everything ready, so you two make sure to wash your hands with soap and water first.

[Thankfully, she was already preparing some rice. Most of Nano's meals involve it somehow, since it's cheap. She heads over to the other side of the kitchen to get everything ready for them.]

Desco will just float over to the sink and turn the water on. Who needs stools when you can fly?

...oh. Right. Aggie. Aggie needs a stool.

Hold on, Desco will just release Usatako and shape it into a tiny ladder so Aggie can reach the sink too.

[Aggie's eyes go wide like saucers and she climbs up on the tiny ladder, grinning like a tiny derp.

Which she is.]

Cooooooooool...

[And meanwhile, Nano's getting everything together on the other side of the room.]

All ready?

"Yes!"

Desco's tail is super-wagging.

Uh-huh, uh-huh!

[She doesn't...have a tail. But if she did, it'd be wagging!]

Okay! So I've got our wax paper down here, and the rice is cooled off...

[Nano waves the girls over to her side of the kitchen.]

So what you need to do first is take a handful of rice and shape it like this.

[She picks up some and demonstrates, expertly molding it into the familiar rice ball shape.]

Be sure to leave a hole in the middle, because that's where we'll put your favorite fillings!
