Child Event and Blackout Log

Where: Around the city and in the apartments
When: November 15-18
Summary: Little kids everywhere!  Also the power grid is on the fritz.
Warnings: Hopefully none!

With the network and the city's electricity once again malfunctioning, the power to most of the city has either been knocked out or is malfunctioning.  And since inconvenient things rarely happen in a vacuum in Hinoto-Ri, a portion of the city has also been affected by some strange new curse, reverting to childlike forms.  Business in and around the city has ground to a standstill due to the power problems, and without functioning heat in the apartments, extra blankets and huddling together for warmth are the order of the day.  It's still possible to go outside as the government hasn't imposed any additional curfews, and the demons during the 13th Hour are as active as ever, but some people may just want to ride this out until everything is back to normal.

((OOC: Feel free to make your own top-level comments either mingling in your apartments or out and about in town.  The child event effects are in full swing, and taking place concurrent with the blackout from November 15th through the 18th.  Please label your posts with your character's name and location.  We apologize for the slight lateness of this log!))

"Oh no..." Akihiko mouthed softly. Maybe he really had turned into a child, as well as Minako. But why didn't she seem to be upset? Well, about being small.

"You don't remember me?"

[beatsup]

"Huh...?" She stares at him. "Do I know you?"

[boxingemperor]

"My name's Aki. When we're grown-ups we go to the big kids' school together! Akihiko Sanada?" Could she not remember him? Was he doomed to forget eventually as well?

[beatsup]

Minako just gives him the most skeptical look ever. "Um... are you playing a game or something? I don't know what you're talking about!"

[boxingemperor]

"N-no! I'm tellin' the truth! When me and you are older, we're friends and we fight monsters together in a secret club! With Shinji and Mitsuru and Junpei...and everyone!"

[beatsup]

"A secret club, huh?"

She totally doesn't believe him, but that doesn't mean she won't play along. "So what about Minato? I'm not joining any secret club without him!"

He winces. She really doesn't get it.

He hopes that his memories won't revert back like hers seemed to have. At least he has experiences in his head to guide his choices...well, most of the time. Sometimes it feels like this child's body wins.

At least he knows who Minato is, thanks to the Tower. "Yeah, he can be in it too!"

[beatsup]

She seems to consider this for a moment, before grinning.

"Okay! I'll be in your club!"

Hmm... "Hey, do you have a leader yet? I wanna be the leader!"

"Great!" Akihiko finds himself smiling, and for some reason wanting to go out and play and-no, that's not good. He holds his head for a moment, just catching Minako's request.

"...Yeah." He smiles for her. "I think you'd be a great leader."

[beatsup]

"All right! I'll be the best leader ever, you'll see!"

Oh, that gives her another thought. "You said we're gonna fight monsters. That means we need weapons, right?"

"Uh, well...not right away." Though, for some reason, playing pretend SEES sounds like fun! It doesn't make much sense, but Minako's really getting him into the idea. "Before it gets dark. We have to stay up until midnight if we wanna see'em."

[beatsup]

"Midnight! That's pretty late!"

She's not sure she ever has before... usually she just sleeps through, even when they have to drive someplace late at night. "But okay. I can find something before then!"

She glances around the hallway.. and suddenly, spies a broom somebody left in the corner after they were cleaning. She grabs it. It's kind of big for a kid her size, but... "How's this?"

"If you can't stay up, I won't be mad." Akihiko says sincerely, but who knows if it's going to be interpreted as more encouragement.

Seeing Minako with the broom, he's reminded of her weapon choice in Tartarus: the naginata. He smiles broadly, fond of the memory. "Perfect!" He promptly looks down at his fists...well, maybe he wouldn't need boxing gloves. Did they even make them for children?

"Of course I can stay up! I'm not a little kid!" Yes, she is.

She waves the broom dramatically. "I'll use this and you'll be a fist fighter! We'll be unstoppable!"

"We'll see if you can or not!" Being in his current state, he probably won't last until then either. But there's nobody around to ruin his plans.

"That's right!" Maybe he could get by without any gloves. "We should go practice!"
