Child Event and Blackout Log

Where: Around the city and in the apartments
When: November 15-18
Summary: Little kids everywhere!  Also the power grid is on the fritz.
Warnings: Hopefully none!

With the network and the city's electricity once again malfunctioning, the power to most of the city has either been knocked out or is malfunctioning.  And since inconvenient things rarely happen in a vacuum in Hinoto-Ri, a portion of the city has also been affected by some strange new curse, reverting to childlike forms.  Business in and around the city has ground to a standstill due to the power problems, and without functioning heat in the apartments, extra blankets and huddling together for warmth are the order of the day.  It's still possible to go outside as the government hasn't imposed any additional curfews, and the demons during the 13th Hour are as active as ever, but some people may just want to ride this out until everything is back to normal.

It's been years since Shinjiro's heard Aki cry. But it's been a good decade since he can remember being this small. Waking up in baggy clothing that suddenly doesn't fit, hair that's a little shorter than he remembers, shaggier. He's... young again? He's not sure what to think when he rolls out of bed and tries to find clothing that won't just fall off him. But he shoves them on quickly, heads out his bedroom door, and that's when he catches the crying.

It's familiar, in a way, and sparks some old memories that he's... never really forgotten. And after a moment he walks to the door, pausing in front of it, before knocking.

"Aki?"

Frightened by the knocking, Akihiko stops sobbing and looks to the door. It's been a while, so he doesn't remember Shinjiro's voice in the state that it's in right away.

"Wh-who's there?" He calls from bed.

...Seriously?

He tries to open the door, finding it locked as he tests the door handle. After that, a slightly stilted grimace finds its way onto his face that interplays with genuine concern.

"If there's another guy that calls you Aki, I'd like to meet him." He sighs. "Open the door."

Damn it Shinji, he's under stress!

...So it is Shinji! He carefully slides off the side of the bed and wanders to the doorway in his shirt-toga-gown, twisting the lock and opening the door. "What's going on here?" Look at that face. You can't be mad at it for very long, can you Shinji?

It's... strange and nostalgic, seeing Aki so young. It should feel stranger than it does, being in a body that's ten years younger, and seeing a reminder of his childhood from so long ago that he had been sure (until Geartopia, at least) that he wouldn't see again, but it doesn't.

"...Stuff like this happens sometimes."

It doesn't explain why he was crying of all things. Does he not remember where they are and shit? If this place could regress his newly-made body back, maybe his memories were in kind. Be a damned hassle but it wouldn't be bad, to forget a few things for a little while. Or so he gets the impression.

"You know where we are, yeah?"

So this place did strange things to them too...just not nearly as horrific. At least in this case. He looks down at himself again, then at Shinji. He thought maybe it was his new body's fault, but if Shinji's young too, that possibility is ruled out.

"Hinoto-Ri?" He tests, sniffling and itching his nose.

"Yeah. More or less." He goes quiet for a moment, his eyes flit to the opposite wall, almost guiltily. Aki had been used to being manipulated and experimented on. So to wake up and find yourself changed again... That had probably what had been upsetting. Guess Hinoto-ri couldn't give it a rest for another month or two. "But... this place ain't anything like the Tower. Stuff like this doesn't happen that often."

"I-I'm not worried." He defends himself, staring at the floor shyly for a few moments. He remembers everything, but he's easily fallen back into his old youthful habits for some reason.

"What do we have to do to grow up again?" In the tower, physical changes could be deadly. When something happened, they needed to act fast to find a remedy. Not one single person could do it all by themselves.
