Ever since the Compulsory Visitor Education Act was passed, the Visitors of Hinoto-Ri have had to attend classes at a variety of schools according to their age and inclinations. There's always something happening in the schools, especially since even demon children are students there!

1. Homeroom! The teacher hasn't arrived yet, so the students are free to chat among themselves, review their schedules, or browse the Network.

2. Lunchtime! It's the perfect time to kick back, relax, and chat with your friends and classmates. There might even be a classical love-love confession on the school rooftop!

3. Physical Education! Get those bodies moving! What better opportunity to show off your athletic prowess exists?

4. School's out! Do you have a club to attend? Do you need to pack up quickly to make it to your part-time job? Do you just want to leave?

Kotoha generally wanders around the classrooms at lunchtime, doing a greet-and-eat. Networking! ~~gotta boost those slinks~~

"Oh! Hello, Aoi!"

"Ah... Hello, Kotoha!"

She's grown used to seeing the girl do this, so it's no particular surprise. "Have you found someplace to eat yet?"

"Yep! Just now!"

With that, she sits down.

"How've your classes been?"

"They've been good so far. It's hard to believe I'll be graduating soon, actually."

What with being a senior and all. Come spring, she'll be able to devote all of her time to her work. "What about yours?"

"Not too bad; I've managed to make some friends!"

Because that's what school is about: social networking. Not learning.

"That's good to hear! Have you been getting along with the residents, too?"

Different people take different things from school. As long as Kotoha doesn't cause too much trouble about it, Aoi isn't about to spoil her fun.

Kotoha nods in response as she starts setting her lunch out - sandwich, juice, and celery sticks. Very Unovan of her.

"A couple of my classmates have demon contracts; it's kind of interesting to talk with them about training regimes."

"Demon contracts... I'm still not so sure I can get used to the idea." It took her a while to get used to demons as friends, much less... creating contracts with them. "But I'm sure it must be fascinating..."

"Yeah! Some of them can even evolve like Pokemon do, it's pretty neat!"

"They... evolve?"

It's lucky she hadn't quite picked up the next bit of food right then, because she might have let it slip from her chopsticks in her surprise.

"Umm... What do you mean?"

"Hm?"

Kotoha blinks a little.

"You know, evolution? When specific conditions are filled, they change into a new shape?"

"And that... happens for demons here, too?"

Just to confirm...

"Apparently! Seems like if a Pixie gets strong enough, it'll turn into a High Pixie? One of my classmates has a contract with a High Pixie, anyway."

"So... it's not a drastic change, is it?"

"I'm not sure! If it's anything like Pokemon, it'll probably change one more time, but that might just be projection."

She nibbles at her sandwich and takes a sip of juice before continuing.

"I know that some Pokemon are drastically different between evolutions, at least?"

"It's just... a little hard to wrap my head around, sorry."

She'll take another bite, chewing thoroughly as she figures out how to word her next question. It's only after she swallows that she finally says it: "Is it normal for Pokémon to evolve twice, then?"

"I think so, yeah...my team is mostly Pokemon that evolve once, but Tomoe and Tesla are the kind that evolve twice, and some of my secondary teams are exclusively pokemon that evolve twice."

"I... see. What exactly is it like? When they evolve, I mean."

It's still so hard for her to imagine...

"They kind of glow a bright white and...expand? It's hard to describe, honestly."

"Um... Expand?"

That... doesn't... normally sound like a good thing, though...

Nod nod.

"Yeah; evolved Pokemon are usually larger, so the process...it's like they become a flood of light and you can just kind of watch them...fill in their new shape?"

...That actually sounds mildly horrifying.

"...Maybe it would be different if I saw it for myself. It just sounds so... different from anything I know."

Kotoha nods.

"Yeah, even back home there are a lot of non-Trainers that have never seen a Pokemon evolve."

"I... see."

You learn a new thing every day.

"What about the demon... ah, evolutions? Have you seen one of those, too?"

"Nope! But Saki said it involved lightning and purple fog?"
