Open for Business 2: Baking Boogaloo
Who: Open to all (but especially Nanami)!
Where: A nice little bakery in the Virgo district, thankfully undamaged despite all the recent happenings.
Summary: Shelly has been productive.
Warnings: None for now, aside from ordinary, vague Shelly-grade creepiness.
Shelly wouldn't call it a plus, exactly, but the fact that his apartment was wrecked does mean that he spends a lot more time in the bakery these days. As a result, his humble bakery is currently full of fresh, delicious goodies... at incredibly appealing prices! What a business man.
Just don't go into the back room.
He would be very displeased if you went into the back room.

Selling bread is not much different from selling ice cream, or from selling death.

"I was considering... buns or something? An afternoon snack sort of thing that lasts until dinner, ah, what would you eat for that sort of thing?" Nanami knows things like sweets are all taste and little nutrition, but bread? They all look like different flavors of the same thing. So uh. What now? (Alternatively, would it work to stuff herself with just everything she liked the look of now, and just pretend dinner didn't exist or something? The last time she tried that it completely messed up her hunger schedule.)
(The game of life is terrible. Refunds please.)

"Ah, something simple... to make sandwiches with, perhaps? As it happens, I have a fresh batch of plain melon bread about to come out of the oven." He turns and leisurely heads towards the back. "Since you don't appear to be looking for anything more specific, you may as well take the freshest product. That would be my suggestion."

That aside, plain melon bread seems like an acceptable-enough suggestion. Though, on second thoughts the prospect of sandwiches presented a new set of problems- she'd have to add condiments, didn't she, and a girl like her does not keep her cupboards well-stocked with organic ingredients good for a healthy lifestyle. If anything, they're filled with an unhealthy amount of instant ramen she at least has the good sense to avoid consuming for consecutive days.
(No, wait. Correction, they're filled with air- she tried to put some of her lesser-used game consoles away and subsequently felt kind of bad about it.)
"Oh-" Nanami starts, but the baker has already moved further inside. As she trails after him she decides to let it go (when you press A at the wrong response option in a dialogue scene the game simply rolls on, after all.) "-...I guess, that sounds like a good suggestion."
He's heading to the back. Nanami tilts her head to peer past Shelly's side as he proceeds towards the ovens. "I didn't think of sandwiches, but putting one together would make it fresher than the packaged ones you get at the mart.... probably. ...Do you prepare a lot of bread per batch?"
gosh i'm sorry my tags are so short in comparison to yours
Not that her observation about putting sandwiches together is the only thing that makes her odd in Shelly's eyes. He has met his fair share of odd people - and he's even worked with a few - but some of them have had a very singular brand of oddness, and Nanami seems to be one of them.
He returns with a tray full of fresh bread. It looks delicious.
"Ah, I suppose that would depend on what you consider 'a lot', no? But I guarantee I have prepared enough for you."
it's okay! i'm used to long tags ahaha
Without her notice, Nanami is smiling a little at the sight- look, it's fresh bread! What a nice thing. It's one of those little real-life triumphs that can make one's day. The smell of fresh bread floods her senses as she inhales, and her lips part further almost as if to take in more of the aroma.
"Smells good!"
If only she's old enough to spend schooling time getting a job instead. The idea of scented air freshener for her apartment suddenly seems like an interesting idea- well, not food-scented freshener, not necessarily, but....
"Mmm, it's definitely more than enough.... how much would it for one or two of those?"
