04 - A vacancy for a meatshield is open~
Who: Yamato and YOU
Where: Taurus Ward
Summary: Yamato feels like he is The Only Sane Man and he is so sick of scorpions. So sick of them.
Warnings: Er, fight scenes, maybe some cussing.
Somehow in the span of a few days the entire population of Hinoto-Ri had gone insane
It left Yamato feeling a bit wrong-footed really, because everything was devolving as quickly as it had back home. Although there was no void devouring the entirety of world, or aliens invading, there was still the raw panic of people mindlessly reacting to a dangerous situation. Some were screaming in hysterics, some were downright psychotic and violent - and now, on top of all that, strange scorpion like creatures had morphed out of nothingness, vicious and deadly with snapping claws and poisonous stings.
Also Yamato's demon, Arioch, was being difficult with him, enough so that he simply didn't bother summoning him any more. It was just him and Remiel now.
Perhaps it had been a mistake to go out when all of this chaos was unfolding, but Yamato was no the kind to cower or hide when shit went down. So he had strolled out into this insanity, determined to get to the bottom of it...
And somehow ended up getting in skirmishes, retreating and fighting, all the way to the Taurus Ward. Hiding back in his room was sounding more and more appealing with each passing second, especially as he and Remiel were both low on energy - both physical and spiritual. Remiel could only use their physical energy to replenish their spiritual for so long before it began to be more of a liability than anything of use.
So now, to put this tl;dr log to an end, have a somewhat exhausted Yamato and Remiel resting under a protruding eave of what could be a strip club for all he cared. The entrance was closed, and the interior quiet - it was still the middle of the day, after all, despite the nightmarish insanity going on.

Yamato didn't know what that quality was, but no one else seemed to be growing violent when coming into contact with the crazed infected, so whatever was causing it was no longer contagious, or only infected those of a certain type. It was interesting but...Yamato could ponder over it later.
"Which ward did you come from? Libra has been completely overrun." They did need to find a safe place, after all.

A few days ago, Ideo had announced that they'd figured out it was affecting Scorpios, but without knowing what someone's birth sign was, it was... not particularly useful in isolating those affected.
"Pisces by way of Ares. The main problem in Pisces was the affected people more than the scorpions..."

Which meant that if they wanted a good breather, they would have to find somewhere relatively deserted in terms of population - although that didn't solve the problem of the scorpions. Although weak, they were numerous, and quick to recover those numbers. It was like getting drowned in a zerg rush.
Yamato let out an irritable grunt. "Ridiculous. Everyone is scattered and it is almost impossible to amass a suitable defence against this attack. If this continues for more than a few days, I fear we will be destroyed."

And then suddenly a scorpion appeared going kekeke~He nodded, sighing and glancing out at the street before them. "I don't think it will last long, but... I hope it's just tonight."
If it was related to birth signs, then that probably meant it was related to the position of the stars. And if that were the case, it probably meant it was cyclical, and Minato wasn't sure if that was better or worse than it being a single strange event, steadily building.

Yamato laughed, the noise darkly amused as he grinned. The sudden change in mood was quite bizarre, but he seemed very animated now, and he turned away from Minato to stare down at the street.
"Very well then. If this night is to be our last when our hope is betrayed, I refuse to do it while loitering in a sex district."
With that Yamato began striding down the street purposefully.

But Yamato was right - loitering in a place like this wasn't really the... most ideal place to make a last stand. However... Minato didn't feel right just letting Yamato go off. There had to be a reason for just resting here for a while, after all.
"... before you go, do you or your companion need any healing?"

... I am never sure how to describe spells icly......
... it's less than he had with this Persona before, but it sufficed for now.
it ok, story and gameplay segregation makes it difficult herp
Yamato regarded him for a moment, his gaze inscrutable before he scoffed lightly. "That will do. Come along, then. I have use for your abilities."
aha yeah. It doesn't help that characters talk about 'status effects' and such in the games....
So, after that moment passed, he shrugged and started to follow. Might as well...
just gotta try and be creative in trying to explain it
They strode down the street, Yamato's gaze fixed forwards, with Remiel silently gliding at his shoulder. When they turned the corner though, he abruptly stopped, and let out a low, irritable noise in the back of his throat.
Loitering at the end of the other street was a group of scorpions - and a crazed Persona-user. Lovely.
yes, I guess so
But whether willing or no, Minato suppresses his irritation and pulls out his Evoker. It's faster and more built into his muscle-memory than summoning more naturally is.
"I might be able to knock out the person..."
Because really, he doesn't want to kill anyone if it can be at all avoided, and Hama and Mudo skills do have their uses!

"Knock out or kill - whichever puts them out of commission," Yamato ordered, pressing a button on his phone harshly. The sky rumbled before splitting open with a roar, a burst of light crashing down on those gathered.
Judgement awyis. Good for managing large crowds.
no subject
"They're not themselves. Knocking out would be better in hopes it can be reversed."
For better or worse, Yamato seems to have recruited someone who pretty adamantly doesn't want to kill anyone if it is at all possible to avoid it.

With those disdainful words, Yamato selected Jugement again, forcing down a large amount of the horde before them. Even if he was apathetic towards the act of killing, he was going out of his way to use non-lethal spell on the crowd...
