Made it so that if those two ever became "whole" again, defeating them and breaking the failed and unstable χ-blade would cause their friend and brother-pupil to fall into a comatose state.

All because he wanted to reignite that horrid war that discussion of it was nearly considered taboo. Pardon her for seeing red if only for that, but to hear what was a half-truth coming from Riku...
