The odd thing about Guybrush is this: Say what you will about the guy, but he never messes up when it counts. Or at least, not when it counts in terms of creative inventory use.

Take, for example, his current setup. Oil already spread out, and on top of it, a creative use for that useless pirate costume he got a while back, in which he's knotted the legs and is currently waiting on the other side of the oil with it.

Cue cat slipping, sliding, and flying right into the trousers. Guybrush quickly bunches them up again. "Gotcha!"
