Who: Naoya and OPEN.
Where: Near the border of the Gemini and Cancer districts.
Summary: Naoya hates Christmas. He decides to take it out on some demons during the thirteenth hour.
Warnings: Naoya being a jerk is always a warning. Devil Survivor spoilers, if you care about those at all.

Naoya hated Christmas. He hated all of the fuss around it and most of all he hated the fact that he was so conflicted about it. On the one hand he couldn't help but smirk that the religious message had gotten lost in the consumerism, but on the other hand the religious message that still stuck bugged him.

He'd never been fully able to figure out exactly what was going on with Jesus anyway.

Rather than spend the night sulking at home though, he decided to sulk outside. He had his coat with him in case the weather took another sudden turn, and he summoned Coyote to walk alongside him once he reached the edge of the Gemini district.

At the thirteenth hour, he grinned, turning to look at the demons starting to wander the street. A few fairies made a move as if to attack him, and he nodded to Coyote, who leaped forward with an Arm Chopper.

There was no guarantee that the rest of the night would be so easy, however.

"No parties or dates?" Meetra asked, approaching from the Gemini district. She'd been doing some hunting of her own while the rest of town was distracted by either the holiday or the crazed elemental fairies. "I thought it was some kind of local holiday."

"It is, but I don't like this holiday very much." He smirked a bit, sending Coyote at another few demons that were approaching. "Not a holiday you're familiar with, then?"

"Only from advertisements and hearing people talk about it," she admitted. "I'm not even from this planet."

"Hah. And what planet are you from? I admit I haven't really looked into the worlds that other people are from yet."

[echo_of_a_jedi]

"From everything I've been able to figure out, I think I come from a totally different galaxy. I hadn't even heard of 'Earth', and I traveled quite a lot," she said.

"This is kind of an odd mix of celebrations for a winter solstice, though, even before you take into account the pumpkins fighting the little clown things."

"The latter part isn't usual, no. It originally started as a religious holiday, but lately it's been taken over by commercialism. ... Not that I'm complaining about that part. But many of the aspects of the celebration were carried over from older religious practices."

"So it's picked up new meanings without getting rid of the older traditions."

Well, that's what made something a tradition, after all.

"It sounds like it's the religious parts you don't like, though, rather than the new commercial ones."

"More or less, though the very earliest traditions relating to it are from religions that very few people still practice."

He grins a little bitterly. "Indeed. I'm not... fond of the majority religion in my world, to put it lightly."

"Hm. What are your thoughts on philosophical devotion to the collective energy of all living things?" she asked.

"... I've heard the concept before. As long as you don't worship Yahweh - the name of the currently ruling god in my world - I don't really care what people worship."

He's seen it all before, pretty much.

"Never heard of him!" she said a little cheerfully. "The Force is what I know, and I can still feel it here as well as I could back home, so I'll stick with contemplating it, and not any particular person."

"Then as I said, I don't care." If someone wants to worship that, whatever.

"Were you out to do training as well?" 'Cause much as he likes Coyote he works better as support.

"The demons around Gemini tend to be the more mindlessly aggressive ones, so I was out here trying to cut down any who ranged too far," she said. "If you'd like to lend a hand..."

"I might as well. Coyote is less of a combat Persona, anyway. That's more of Cleopatra's domain."

[echo_of_a_jedi]

"Master Vima and I will be glad to have you along," she replied. "Let's get to slaying demons, then."

[meaningdies]

"Vima? Is that your Persona?" Regardless, he summons Coyote to pad alongside him and keep an eye out.

Meetra nodded.

"Legendary Jedi and master of Battle Meditation Vima Sunrider," she said. "It's a little awkward having her image in my head since I met her in person, but she's very helpful."
