Who: The Investigation Team and Nanako plus one death goddess.
Where: Yu and Nanako's apartment.
Summary: The IT celebrates Christmas together away from home... more or less.
Warnings: Yu trying to keep up his mission to bring a Green Christmas to Hinoto-ri. Horrible singing. lulz

It was a bit rushed and last minute -- and most of the work had to be done by other people because a certain grey haired leader was currently acting like an idiot -- but the apartment that Yu and Nanako shared was currently decked out for the winter holiday. Streamers hung around door frames and windows, and someone had even managed to bring in a little fake pine tree to be decorated.

There's also food, of course, though how good it is depends greatly on who cooked it. Taste with care, least you end up poisoned on Christmas.

It might not seem very festive at the moment, especially considering the current state (and presence) of certain individuals... but that will change at midnight at least.

"You think I don't know that?" Yu replied softly, the regret painfully obvious in his voice. Dammit, he couldn't do anything against... whatever the hell the Pyro Jacks had done to him. His head was still a bit fuzzy, having only recovered just a little while ago, but he could still remember just... jumping out a window, leaving Nanako to fend for herself; remember diving under the legs of a friend in the middle of a heated song off. Then there was that hip grinding he was doing against Yukiko...

If he pulled out of this without reversing his social links, he would be shocked.

"... Hey, stop that. Everyone will forgive you. I already forgive you, it wasn't even your fault that any of this happened anyway." Yosuke very gently, even playfully, punches Yu in the arm, giving him a grin. "It was kind of funny... When it wasn't creepy, I mean."

Yu let out an exasperated noise; none of that was funny, and all of it was creepy. And what made things worse was...

"...I can still do it," he muttered. "Switch clothes; it's a spell and it... stuck."

Constant reminder of what happened; just what he needed.

Oh... well... that's not good... If the Pyro Jacks could brainwash him again he'd be a ticking time bomb of crazy. "Izanami said that she can remove the spell, she might be able to help..."

Right, and speaking of Izanami... Yosuke glances back, towards where the other room is. "Apparently she kept an eye on you... I guess that's why she's here now." He shifts a little, looking like he's trying to just bite his tongue about the whole matter.

She could...? Yu looked a little hopeful at that, wondering if it would be too much tonight to ask her to remove it.

He followed his gaze, a very tiny smile appearing on his face. "I did invite her," he replied, "though if this hadn't happened, I don't know if she would have showed up."

Okay, so much for biting his tongue, this is driving him up the wall. "I wish you hadn't. I appreciate that she kept an eye on you, I guess, but I don't trust her."

Alright, alright, he's not going to argue it right now. "Do you need some help with the gifts? Or I could get you some cake. It's store-bought so it's edible."

Yu bit back a sigh; he could understand why Yosuke didn't trust her, and considering everything that had happened over the past year, he wasn't entirely convinced he trusted her either. But after this... it was more than a, "keep at arms length," sort of trust now. He could appreciate the fact that she truly did have humanity's interests at heart... she just didn't really understand how to give them just that.

Still, he didn't reply; the topic change was a clear clue Yosuke did not want to get into it, and he couldn't fault him for it.

"...is anything else safe?" he asked, not entirely sure. He hadn't been available to cook, and knowing the girls...

He rubs the back of his head. "I'd... be careful if I were you. Drinks are safe, cake is safe... everything else could be a death trap. If we need anyone to taste test we can just force feed Kanji stuff, if that works?" Yosuke snickers a bit. "Nanako-chan is in bed, by the way, I think she'll be happy to have you back."

"...I don't think torturing Kanji after the other day is a good idea."

You weren't there, bro. He had his persona use Yukiko as a human missile. He is not messing with that.

"I saw you put her to bed," he continued, giving his friend a small smile. "Thank you for everything, Yosuke."

"It's not torturing, more like assassinating. He won't know what hit him~ And if turns out to be edible, then he'll just get some snacks! Besides, if they are poison, he's the toughest guy here, he'll be the only one who can actually survive their cooking." This plan is perfect, Yu, what are you talking about?

Yosuke nods, glancing back towards the bedroom. "Don't mention it. I promised I'd help take care of her, didn't I?"

...Yu still couldn't help but feel sorry for Kanji, and it showed on his face. But... still, Yosuke did have a point...

"Yeah... thanks, partner."

Yosuke just grins in response, before looking past him, trying to see where he hid those supposed gifts he had. "Did you get me something good?" He looks pretty excited. If there was anyone who could shop for him, it'd probably be Yu.

Yu managed to crack a smile then. "You'll have to wait and see."

"Yeah? Heh, well I got you something too, I hope you like it. I got Nanako-chan something too. I guess tomorrow will be her Christmas day, huh? Plenty of food and gifts- and her big bro will be all better." Yosuke nudges him a little. "I promised you'd be alright, some way or another."

Yu gave a nod at that. "We'll have to do something for the New Year to make up for this."

Because seriously; missing out on Christmas because he was loopy was really sucking right now.

"You don't have any dates for New Year's Eve, dude?" Clearly dating girls is a priority, and he does not want to step all over your dates with more big parties.

"Well, Yukiko will probably be my date," Yu replied, totally... not even thinking. Wait, he didn't tell Yosuke they were dating, did he? Oops...

"Date??" Yosuke looks surprised for a minute, but then gives him a pretty big grin. "Dude, I didn't know you were into her, I thought what you were doing with her was just you being totally nuts! Hah, to be honest I think you're the only person around who'd actually be capable of getting her to open up and date you. She still tends to give me the cold shoulder."

Bro, he's totally happy for you, don't worry about it!

"Y-yeah... I asked her out on Halloween..."

Sorry bro, but... yeah.

".... Um, wow, this is news to me." He's not exactly mad about that but he is kind of shocked that Yu forgot to mention it after all this time. "Why didn't you say anything until now??"

"I've wanted to mention it at work, but..."

He was afraid of how Yosuke would react, that he'd be upset in the middle of work, and... well, he was worried about his situation as it was. He didn't want to make it worse.

"Hey, dude, you know you can tell me anything anytime, right? I don't care what it is. I mean this isn't even that big of a deal, I'm happy you're dating her, I just kind of wish I wasn't left in the dark!"

It hurt more to be left in the dark about this kind of thing, honestly...

"I mean, you trust me, right?"

"I know; I'm sorry," he replied sincerely. "I… admit, I was a bit afraid how you'd react."

He smiled then, though; that little half smile, half smirk that was reserved for his best friend.

"Of course I trust you, Yosuke. I'll know better from now on."

Seeing that smile, and hearing his apology, Yosuke absolutely can't be upset with Yu. So he smiles back instead.

"Hey, come on, you think I'd seriously mind my best friend getting a girlfriend? I'm totally supportive! Trust me, the instant I get a girlfriend I'll be calling you up and telling you!"

This is, of course, assuming he gets a girlfriend any time soon. And to be honest he's not exactly sure he wants to go dating someone who isn't from their world; he'd never see them again after they go back home, right? At least with Yu and Yukiko they'd still be together when they eventually went back to Inaba.

"Well, you have plenty of girlfriends to choose from," Yu replied before he could stop himself. But seriously; it was too easy! Yosuke, you have fan girls; isn't this a dream come true for you?
