Who: The Investigation Team and Nanako plus one death goddess.
Where: Yu and Nanako's apartment.
Summary: The IT celebrates Christmas together away from home... more or less.
Warnings: Yu trying to keep up his mission to bring a Green Christmas to Hinoto-ri. Horrible singing. lulz

It was a bit rushed and last minute -- and most of the work had to be done by other people because a certain grey haired leader was currently acting like an idiot -- but the apartment that Yu and Nanako shared was currently decked out for the winter holiday. Streamers hung around door frames and windows, and someone had even managed to bring in a little fake pine tree to be decorated.

There's also food, of course, though how good it is depends greatly on who cooked it. Taste with care, least you end up poisoned on Christmas.

It might not seem very festive at the moment, especially considering the current state (and presence) of certain individuals... but that will change at midnight at least.

It may be Christmas, but Nanako really doesn't seem very happy. She's too worried about her Big Bro's condition to really enjoy the party. Of course, if someone distracts her this will change, but initially she keeps glancing over at him, or approaching him to try and talk.

Despite the noise, she ends up falling asleep before the party reaches midnight - first on the couch next to Yu. Hopefully someone will carry her to bed and tuck her in.

Yosuke's kind of been on Nanako-chan duty ever since Yu had pretty much lost his mind to the Pyro Jacks. He notices her fall asleep and is quick to go over to her. He wasn't sure that Yu was in any state to take care of her right now.

Very gently he touches her shoulder to stir her. "Hey, Nanako-chan, are you tired? Do you want to go to bed? You can open all of your presents in the morning." Yosuke gives her a smile, trying his stupid best to be a surrogate big brother while her actual big brother was out of commission. "Don't worry about Yu, okay? He'll be better in the morning, I promise." At least, if Izanami kept her word and turned him back to normal during the Thirteenth Hour if he didn't turn back to normal on his own.

Nanako stirs sleepily when Yosuke awakens her, then glances over at Yu again. "He really will be?"

She doesn't want to go to bed if he's still sick - even though she just was dozing off regardless.

Yosuke glances over at the squirmy Yu before smiling back at her and nodding. "Promise." He holds up his pinky finger to her. "I'll make sure of it."

"Okay. I'm glad..." She takes Yosuke's pinky and shakes it, solemnly. Now he can't break his word.

He'd do anything and everything in his power to make sure that Yu is better by the time Nanako wakes up. "You're looking pretty tired there. Why don't I get you to bed? All of the sweets and presents will still be here in the morning, and there should be some fun snow to play with outside." Considering they'd sabotaged Yu, that is.

"Okay... Can we play in the snow again together tomorrow? With big bro and everyone?"

Talking has made her a little more awake, but she's still obediently standing up to move over to the bed.

"Of course! Yu would probably like that, as long as you don't accidentally bury him in snow or anything, he doesn't like that," Yosuke laughs. "Want me to read you a story or something?"

Even in a sleepy state, this sounds like a great idea. "Okay! My books are on the shelf over there."

Yosuke goes through the books on the shelf, kind of pulling one off at random. It's just a cute Japanese children's story about talking animals, kind of typical, though it had snow as a theme so it fit well enough with their winter atmosphere.

When Nanako gets into bed, Yosuke closes the bedroom door behind him and sits on the edge of the bed with her, opening up the book.

"I hope this story's okay with you?"

"Yeah! That's a really good one. You'll like it."

It seems Nanako has heard every book multiple times, but she doesn't seem to mind it. Maybe this storytime is more for Yosuke's benefit.

Yosuke laughs a little and looks it over. "You think so?" He turns to the first page and clears his throat a little as he starts to read out loud to her. The story is kind of adorable but he can tell that any kid would probably like it. It reminds him of stories his mom used to read to him when he was Nanako's age.

It's about a bunch of animals who play in the snow. While their moms call them in one by one, one of the animals- a white fox- stays behind to play a while longer. Because he didn't go in when his mom told him to, though, he catches a cold and can't play with the others for several days after.

"When we play in the snow tomorrow, make sure you tell us if you're feeling too cold, alright Nanako-chan? We can get some hot chocolate or something, it's better than getting sick."

"Don't worry, I don't want to get sick again. But I'm better now, so I don't get cold so easy anymore."

It seems someone is still not pleased about being made to stay indoors or go in early during most of last winter.

"That's good. I'm sure Yu will probably make sure you're wearing like ten layers anyway." Yosuke smiles at her. He can imagine that she wasn't too happy about that, he's sad that she had to go through last winter at all. "Hey, tomorrow, to get back at him for being all crazy, let's ambush him with snowballs!"

Yosuke, you devious jerk.

"Yeah! You and Teddie can be on my team... and Big Bro gets his own team." There is completely nothing wrong with a 3 vs 1 snowball war.

"I bet he'd probably have no problems being on a team all on his own." Knowing Yu he'd find a way to fight back and hold his own. "We might need Kanji on our team too."

Let's just turn everyone against Yu, actually. That sounds hilarious!

Hey, Yu may be upset because his hands are taped up and he can't spread Green Christmas cheer, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't have time for his little sister. He pulled himself up when she went over to check on him, keeping his bound up fingers out of view so she wouldn't be too worried.

"What's wrong, Nanako?"

"Um... Are you feeling better, Big Bro?"

Even if he's hiding it, she knows about the bandages. Yu's strange costume change didn't bother her that much, but maybe the others are worried worried he'll fly out the window again if he can change back... So, she doesn't complain about what they've done to him. Although it still does worry her.

Oh Nanako... if only he knew how okay she was with such a thing; that had to be worse than crossdressing every Saturday night, right?

"I'm fine, Nanako," he assured her. "I just... there's someone I want to help, but our friends think it's a bad idea."

She'll respect your lifestyle, too. That's what family is supposed to do, right?

"...You mean the Pyro Jacks?"

Yu nodded. "That's right."

"Um..." Nanako isn't sure if she should be getting involved, since if Yu is taking sides, he must have a good reason for it, right? But the whole situation doesn't feel right to her.

"I know the Pyro Jacks want to have fun on Christmas... but fighting isn't good. And, Christmas is in the winter. I think we should have winter weather in the winter... and summer weather in the summer. That way, people who like cold and people who like hot are happier."

...even Nanako was against him? Yu sank back against the couch with a tired sigh, but he managed a smile on his face, reaching over to rub her head.

"Maybe so," he replied, "I guess it doesn't matter much right now."

Even Nanako can realize that he's being ridiculous right now.

"Yeah... It's already almost Christmas."
