Alright! This wasn't a big deal or anything. It was just hanging out with Io...on Christmas. No big deal, she did accept the invitation, after all. Plus, let's be honest, there wasn't a very real threat of being turned down. Just hanging out, with Io....on Christmas...with gifts involved...

AAAAAAH, why was Kaito so nervous!? Alright, alright, he took a couple of deep breathes while clutching the handle of a green gift bag and finally knocked on Io's door. Man, she was so gonna love what he got her! Or, at least he hoped so...

In her own way, she was pleased when she heard the knock. This might be her chance to get her feelings into the open.

She answered with quite a smile on her face, "Hello, Kaito. I take it you're ready for our date?"

It looked like he was at first, but if she looked closer, she'd notice that he was wearing something a little bit thicker underneath his hoodie. Something thicker with....tiny lights showing through the hoodie's fabric.

Probably a trick of the light and totally nothing to worry about.

"Yeah." Kaito smiled at her and continued to hold the bag behind his back, all mysterious-like. "Where to first? Want to take a look around the city some more or get some lunch?"

"I'm feeling hungry right now, so let's eat first." There, that wasn't so hard. Even if it was something as simple as 'what do you want to do right now'.

Solid progress! "Alright, come on!"

"So, did you have any places in mind?"

"I'm thinking noodles. We could go to the park area after that, if you haven't seen it yet!"

Other than that, the day is totally open ended, hell yes!

"That would be Capricorn ward, right? I haven't been there yet, so let's do it."

They make their way to the noodle place, whether it be Japanese-style or something with a more Mediterranean bent.

Knowing how much Kaito liked food stands, it was probably the former. That being said, the noodles were super duper good.

It was around this point that Kaito set the bag he's been holding onto the table, grinning a little mischievously to himself.

"Happy Christmas!" If she took a look in the bag, she'd find a book that seems to be from a world mythology series. This one appeared to be Celtic.

She just took the bag and opened it. But at the same time, she feels a little guilty because she couldn't think of something to give Kaito... As soon as the thought fades, she realizes what she's received.


"Oh, thank you! I've been looking for something like this! I was always a little disappointed by the level of detail the Compendium went into..."

Which is to say... not a lot of detail, at all.

Well, there was probably only so much info that could fit into a compendium that could be stored on a phone. But more information was always good!

"Yeah! There wasn't a lot of stuff written down back then, apparently, but there's tons of stories. I think it has a section about King Arthur in there somewhere."

Ah, the age of oral tradition. It's good that those kind of things are preserved.

The part about Arthur, King of the Britons was slightly surprising but then he was kind of involved with everything, wasn't he.

But it was time to break the news.

"Kaito? I... I wasn't sure what you liked, so I didn't get you anything..."

"Aha, don't worry about it! Just being here is enough for me. Besides, I'm kinda gifted out anyway."

"What kinds of things did you get?"

She's excited to hear that you have no idea do you.

"Oh, well...hold on a sec." With that, Kaito started to actually take off his bunny hood to reveal...this.....thing.

"...Aha. Daichi dared me to wear it." Merry Christmas, Io.

"It's certainly, uh..." She stammered. But this kind of thing was... "...his style, isn't it?"

"Daichi's? No, he just thought I'd never wear it." And boy was he wrong.

"It's from Saiduq." He'll just.

Leave that without making any further comment.

"Oh, in that case..."

It was kind of understandable that Saiduq would get a thing like that, given how out-of-touch he was about... well, a lot of things.

"Yeah, I didn't think he'd know what I liked! Maybe he asked Daichi about it."

That moment when the Boy That You Like unironically likes terrible Christmas wear.

"That's great! I thought he wouldn't either, but I guess he's still got surprises left for us."

"Yeah. My grandma always got them for me before, so it's a nice surprise."

He said this as if he assumed that other people living in Japan had relatives who were that vehemently into Christmas.

"You must have loved her a lot..."

At this point it was just about a fact that his grandmother was dead. Whether she lived outside of the three remaining cities was barely relevant.

But she could be wrong.
