Who: Yu Narukami and everyone that wants to visit him.
Where: Hospital, ICU
When: Starting the morning of the 8th; continuing through out the day.
Summary: Yu finally awakens in the hospital.
Warnings: So many feels and kisses and yeah. There will be one post for the IT to pounce on him, and another for everyone else.
The dream he had of Izanami had long faded off into nothingness, but he was still aware; he could feel the least little twitch of dust that fell on him, feeling like he was trapped in his own uncooperative body. He could hear the feet of nurses walking by him to check his condition, the smell of flowers they were leaving in his room pleasant and something that was appreciated, even though it was something they needed to do. Then there were the doctors, humming and hawing to themselves, and more than once did he hear them mutter about how he should have died.
That really helped his spirits.
They weren't the only words he could hear, though. The doctors, everyone; they were distant, like their voices were coming to him through a thick fog, but they still reached him. Still, being trapped like he was, it was hard to tell who was saying what when, and everything ended up mashing together in his head after awhile.
My fault... all my fault...
Don't sleep too long, okay?
Guy's a lot more responsible than I thought.
I'm sure your big bro is happy you're all right too.
I hope he's all right...
If... we're too sad right now, he'll be sad when he wakes up, too.
Sensei doesn't need to forgive you, because you didn't do anything wrong, Yuki-chan...
...He can hear you, child.
"...forgive me."
He's pretty sure he moved, but he wasn't sure... no, he could move, he was moving... something was in his throat, though; he choked, gagging around... whatever it was, he didn't know. What was going on...?
"Narukami-san?" a dim voice gurgled through the haze of his consciousness. "If you can hear me, please cough as hard as you can."
Was he really hearing this? It sounded like a nurse, but he wasn't sure if it was another dream or not. Still... coughing was a good thing; if he could make his body do that, maybe it would be okay? He tried, but his body was still weak, and the wheeze that came out was rather pitiful, and it did nothing but make the tight feeling in his throat worse. His head swam from the effort and he felt like he was going to throw up despite the thing in his throat. Still, somehow he managed a cough again, a little stronger that time, and the next stronger still, until the pressure in his throat suddenly disappeared as whatever it was was finally removed. His body did not like that though, and despite how much he wanted to open his eyes, he could feel himself drifting off...
...and then he could feel sunlight on his face.
Yu flinched, feeling warm and content and... so weak; that was something that he wasn't used to. He let out a faint noise of protest at that -- the leader wasn't supposed to feel weak like that... though, then again, he did kind of just block a massive blast of magic.
Wait, "just"? That probably wasn't accurate at the moment. He groaned again, shuddering as he forced himself to wake up...
Yu's eyes blinked open slowly, painfully. Every little movement hurt, ached, threatened to send him spiraling back into his prison cell body again, but he stubbornly refused to let that happen. He opened his eyes inch by painful inch until they were finally open, staring up at a sterile white ceiling. He stayed like that for a long moment, before carefully turning his head, seeing the flowers that had been left by the nurse... and some kind of gift basket from Mays? He wondered who left that...
He groaned softly, shifting slowly; his body was stiff and aching, demanding that he stop moving but demanding movement at the same time. Limbs cracked in both protest and relief, and he blew out a pained breath, somehow staying conscious.
It hurt... but he was awake.

OH GOD SO MUCH TL;DR
"You're seriously gonna keep saying that?" But he rises from his seat, turning around his chair and standing over Yu. "I guess I shouldn't expect much sense out of you, seeing that big gash on your head."
Adachi flicked the lighter on, taking a deep breath. "But, how exactly did you come to that conclusion, anyway?" He was more focused on the bandage around Yu's head than the kid's face. "That's a pretty big leap from what actually happened, you know."
Thinking back... Had he ever heard of a case like that? In the city, you got reports of attacks like this on the occasion, but that was very rare. Japan wasn't like America crime-wise. When it did happen, though... Misplaced memories, maybe? But ones that wrong?
"March 20th. You met up with me in the investigation room." He may as well restate what happened a day ago, though. "You said some weird things at the time. You really took me by surprise. Things like you wanted to know what happened. Things like...you supporting the killer. I thought it was weird, seeing as, you know, I am a police officer." He bent down, finally switching his gaze over to Yu's face. "...And then I brought in a bit of key evidence, since you were so insistent. That threatening letter you guys received before Nanako-chan was kidnapped."
The detective flicked the lighter again, staring Yu right in the eyes. "And you burned it. You completely got rid of the one thing the killer wouldn't want the police to have. That one thing that would've incriminated the killer.
And you're seriously telling me you don't remember anything like that."

Yu's voice is calm and even, staring at the flame flicking on and off in Adachi's hands, before his eyes snapped up to return the cop's stare. He might have looked calm, might have sounded calm, but on the inside he was livid, and he could feel Izanagi in a similar state of rage. How dare he accuse him of wanting to hide the truth!
"December fifth... that was when I realized you were the murderer," he continued. "We confronted you after, but you ran into Namatame's former room, where the large TV set was. It took some time before we could follow you in; Rise was having trouble looking through the fog on her own.
"Once we found you, though, we followed you into your own world in the TV. And in the end? You lost; we had to carry you out of the television. My uncle already had a police escort waiting for you."
Go go ahead, keep spouting about how the two of your are "partners"; there is no way in hell Yu was going to let Adachi continue thinking that way.

"You're kidding, right? You've gotta be joking." But he almost wants to laugh. Almost. But he knows he can't because a nurse might hear it. "Nothing like that happened December fifth, especially nothing involving...TV worlds..."
Why was this leading nowhere? What buttons did he push now? That bit about Yu realizing, though... That bit was true. Yu had proved it that day, but he'd also willingly burned the evidence...way after December. The bit about there being a TV world was also true, but there's no way he would've actually gone in. There was the possibility that Yu had realized that early. Still, it struck him odd how willing he'd been to destroy all he'd worked for that year, and if he had known all that long, why wait to talk about it? He had some amazing fortitude if that were the case. Not that Adachi would ever admire him for it. It was still a stupid move, but the shit Yu was spouting right now was even stupider.
In the end, he had chalked it up to Yu being a dumbass. He couldn't say his opinion was about to change.
"This isn't going anywhere." No kidding. "You're apparently way too out of it right now to even get what I'm saying." He was tossing the lighter up and down now. "One thing you learn early on as a detective is that showing a person with a brain injury a piece of key evidence or even a personal possession...usually draws up something. But, I guess yours was way too extensive?"
For the life of him, he couldn't figure it out. How couldn't he? He was the smartest guy on the force! "But that bit about Dojima-san actually having a police escort is a nice touch, I can give you that. Would've made it slightly believable too... As long as I'd also been hit over the head..."

Once the nurse had realised that her patient was not going into cardiac arrest, and the earlier shouting hadn't been for help, she turned from the heart monitor and gave Adachi a chilly glare.
"This boy has had enough excitement today without you agitating him further, sir," she said, puffing herself up like an offended water fowl. "Either settle down, or leave."

"It's fine, miss," Yu began, a pointed look being focused on the former detective. "He was just leaving."
If that wasn't enough of a hint that Adachi needed to get the hell out of his sight…
Damn it, Dreamwidth.
"I was just leaving, anyway." With a sigh, Adachi pocketed the lighter. "I should've realized I had the wrong idea to talk to a guy with a head injury and expect for him to make any sense."
Former detective? Adachi was sure as hell going to try hopping back on that horse. He wasn't about to let go of his gun, let alone his ability to walk around without being conspicuous. "I don't have anything more to say to him right now." And he might as well try earning whatever brownie points with the nurse... "Sorry for causing trouble, ma'am. I'll be on my way out."
Of course he hadn't figured out a damn thing from all this wandering around... So much for his little investigation. Well, there was always tomorrow, if he could somehow sweet talk his way onto the nurse's side. Man, he was going to have to try pretty hard, though. It...hurt his head. It hurt his head at how Yu was ruining his plans instead of going along with them like a good little kid.
Thinking about developing a migraine around a kid who had basically been hit on the head hard enough to end up on a coma, though... Now, that was pretty ironic.

As he thought that, however, there was a little voice in the back of his head; that little voice of doubt, of realization. The same kind of voice that always popped up to debunk his moral high ground.
How is that any different from his relationship with Izanami?
It hit him rather quickly: one moment he was sitting there, skin paling and eyes widening as realization hit him, and the next he was doubled over, his stomach doing horrible things as his head swam with dizziness. The heart monitor started beeping really fast as he slapped a hand over his mouth, struggling against the bile that was stuck in his throat.
