Confessions...
Who: Kingdom Hearts cast
Where: Home
Summary: After the events at Animus, Kairi was left feeling like she owed her friends a lot of explanations. After talking with Naminé about it, they decide it would be best to be honest and calls everyone in for a meeting.
Warnings: PG-13 or so to be safe
It certainly hadn't been something Kairi wanted to do, to admit the truth about Facility, but after Nyarlathotep's manipulation, she realized it was something she had to do. After a long discussion with Naminé over whether or not she was comfortable being open with everyone, Kairi contacted all their friends to ask them to meet the two girls in a common area of the house at the end of the day, saying only that she had something important to discuss with them.
Better sooner than later, she figured.
Kairi stood there in wait with her sister, quietly squeezing her hand for reassurance; both for herself and for Naminé, really. She'd let everyone find their way in, settle down... then they'd begin the talk. Aqua of all people deserved it, especially after how Kairi had snapped at the Tower administrators. Perhaps if they managed to keep up the courage, they'd bring up the events at the Tower as well...

Right here with you.

She remembers the message that Kairi had left, and while it was enough to raise some flags, something in hers and Naminé's expressions confirmed that this was a serious matter. She heads over in their direction, expression falling into worry.]
Hey guys. What's wrong?
[She figures whatever they've got to say, it'll probably wait until the others get here, but it couldn't hurt to greet them]

She's worried, but patient enough to wait. It's important to them, so of course she'll listen. Even if she's toward the back in the beginning.]

So he arrives, slipping into the room and near the two girls, his expression strangely calm despite the questions racing through his mind.]
Whatever you guys want to say, I'm all ears.

He hoped that it wasn't anything too bad...but even if it was, he was glad that Kairi and Namine were going to talk to everyone about it so that they can help.]
Hey, everyone. So...what did you need to talk about?
~THE TALK~
So... thanks for coming, everyone. There's a lot we need to talk about that Naminé and I haven't exactly been too willing to discuss before now. You all deserve to know... and I do mean all of you.
[Here's looking at you, people wondering why the hell they're here right now.]
I'm sure some of you have been wondering about this for a while, and I thank you all for being patient and not pressing us for information. We were admittedly kind of scared to bring it up, but after the events that occurred in the world we and Aqua were taken to, it's about time this all comes out where you all can see it.
[Welp... here goes nothing.]
Naminé and I hailed from a place before this one, as some of you know or have figured out. It was a space station called Alpha Omega, but the whole place in general was called Facility. It was run by a group called the Consortium; they were a group of scientists, but we're not exactly sure where they're from. Facility was devised to be a place where they could run experiments on people, to test inhumane things on people without any consequences and without having to worry about subject death. In other words... a torture facility.
[Kairi averts her eyes, hand shaking a little in Naminé's grip.]
It's why we have collars. They were devices used to control us, to limit our powers and keep us under their thumbs. They'd perform experiments on us every week, with one week off per month for new people to be brought in. Uhm...
[She stumbles a little over her words, having trouble explaining it all despite how many times she'd run over this conversation in her head beforehand.]
The experiments were sometimes tame when they felt like we were going to break, but usually they were horrible things, murderous things. Both of us have experienced dying before because of these experiments, but they would just bring us back again to test more and more. I was there for a year, Naminé even longer-- several of our friends as well. We've had to fight a lot over the time we were there, two whole wars even, which is why we know so much more fighting stuff than we did back home.
I-I'm not exactly comfortable telling you exactly about the experiments that happened to us there, I don't think either of us really are just yet. It's... been hard. We didn't really want you all to worry or anything like that, but that's not exactly the reason why we were holding back the information from you all. There's something significantly more important, it's uhm...
[Deep breath, you can do this.]
We're not the real Kairi and Naminé. We're clones, and not even good ones at that. We were cheaply and massly produced in order to be used as easily replaceable test subjects, and because of this we have... certain issues. We suffer from something known as 'clone sickness', caused by our poor DNA and stuff and what that means is uhm, we can get sick and go into comas or even sometimes... die. There's no rhyme or reason to it, it just happens. One day you can be perfectly healthy, and the next you'll be on the ground. It wasn't as big of a deal in Facility, considering they could easily just bring us back to life if we died or replace us into a new body, but that doesn't apply here. In Hinoto-Ri, our lives aren't disposable and death means death. We've been afraid to tell you all about this, afraid of what you'd think of us and not wanting to worry you all... but we know its important that you guys know the whole story.
I'm sorry that we haven't been honest before now. That's... about it, unless Naminé has something she wants to add. If you guys are confused or have any questions, we'll do our best to answer.

The moment Xion hears "clone," however, she gasps quietly, hand going to her mouth. Thoughts whirl around her head, a confusing mix of thoughts, but as Kairi mentions them being afraid what the others would think of them, there's one thought that's so much clearer than any of the others.
She knows that particular feeling all too well.
And if it wasn't for her own Kairi, and Naminé, and everyone really, she'd probably still feel like that. She stands up from where she was sitting and listening, crosses over and - if they'll let her - hugs each of them in turn.]
I'm one of the last people who'd think badly of you for not being "real". [She disagrees with that assessment anyway] You're both still you, right? You have your own memories nobody else can have. That's the important thing. It... it doesn't matter what you were made to be.
[Then her face hardens with determination.]
We'll... we'll find a way to fix this clone sickness, so you don't have to worry. There has to be a way.
[She's a little surprised at herself. Normally Roxas was much more of the optimist than she was. But... she's had her own experience with a seemingly hopeless case, caused simply by being who she was and not having any control over that.]

The second time they had to leave family and friends behind in an inhospitable place.
Honestly though, it takes her a moment to register the last portion of this confession. Mainly because she's so worried and wants to console them but is holding herself back until they're finished that when it did register, Xion was already hugging them.
I'm one of the last people who'd think badly of you for not being "real".
... That explained how the other Xion acted so well, too. Really, right now... she didn't have any questions. What she did have, however, was her own way of sensing things. Like her back no longer partially touching the wall, and her feet leading her closer to the girls as Xion spoke.
Like the two strong lights she could feel and see that weren't any less real than her own that were soon in her arms, if they allowed it. Xion too, if she wanted to join.]
She's right, you know. [Because to the darkness with whatever they were supposed to be; she'd metaphorically cut that down with the Heartless if she had to.] I can feel it; your Light... and it's not any less real than the others'.
[She smiles faintly, eyes a little wet because there was no way she could hold what they are against them. Just like she couldn't hold what her Master or Xehanort said about her friend against him all that time ago, when she couldn't even sense a broken light in his fractured Heart. Nor could she accept what the Master say about Terra, when they both knew that while he was afraid and sought power... it was to protect others. She knew her family... which is why she whispers:]
It doesn't matter if the rest of you is "real" or not... You're still my apprentices, and you are like daughters to me. [She is so proud of you three. Kairi and Naminé for speaking up and telling the truth, and Xion for being the first to answer them.] And we will find a way to cure you both and anyone else who comes from that Facility. Whether it's us, or those at the hospital.
[Even if it takes months or longer, she wouldn't stop until her children were well.]

As Kairi speaks, Riku's expression darkens. His eyes narrow, his body tenses. There's no denying that it all sounds horrible. Like something out of a twisted nightmare...
Even worse that Kairi had to go through with it. Experiments, torture, and even death... Compared to lazing around on the islands, it's hard for him to imagine, and he stays silent for a long time. Just listening. Trying to understand.
And then she mentions being a clone, and his jaw drops. Even piled on top of everything else, it's the last thing he expected. And to hear she and Naminé might fall into a coma, that they might die...
Biting his lip, he squeezes his eyes shut and folds his arms. What can he even say? All of this lies beyond his realm of understanding. It's all so much darker than anything he expected to encounter in the outside world...]
I never would've guessed. It's all so strange to think about, but...
[Deep breaths.]
I don't think any less of you-- of either of you. It's all just a lot to take in. I can't even begin to imagine what it must've been like to go through all that.
