Who: Yosuke Otoha and Johnny Rayflo
Where: Taurus district, night
Summary: Otoha is curious about what Johnny's been doing at night… and where he's been working. What he finds does not please him.
Warnings: Lots of yelling and vulgarity, probably some violence. ~~Also this.~~

Otoha had enough of this bullshit. Skulking around without knowing where this money was coming from… he wasn't under his brother's thumb anymore. He could look into things, and he would, because this was getting irritating. He knew Johnny had some job, and he knew that Johnny didn't want to talk about it given the deflections from the vampire.

So Otoha followed along at a decent distance, not wanting to alert Johnny he was tailing him. He'd allowed himself to get sprayed by some jerk selling cologne in one of the other districts to mask his scent, hoping Johnny wouldn't be able to pick up on him that way.

He winced a tiny bit as his back hit the wall again but he kept his glare up.

"I've been taking care of us! Is it so bad to want to provide for someone you care about?" He brought his hands up to tug at Otoha's wrists, his glare only getting harder.

"Why do you care so much? It's not like I'm at risk for catching something. I'm good at this!"

"I don't need you to provide for me. I live fine off of what they give me."

His grip tightened a bit, leaning in as well.

"I'm not letting you whore yourself out! I know what they do to those people! You think I want to see you used and thrown away like a piece of trash? I'm not going to let you!"

His mind raced with a million things he could say. Part of him wanted to throw it in Otoha's face that he'd been doing it for months right under his nose.

Instead, his tone lightened and took on it's teasing lilt, though there was still an edge to it and his gaze. "Oh, Otoha, I do love it when you take control like that. Gets me all excited."

"You think this is funny?" Otoha's voice was ice cold, no hint of amusement in his tone. "It's not. Especially with people getting more riled up about people like us here. There's demons here - how long do you think it'll take for someone to find out you're a vampire? How long do you think you'll last when someone does something like shove a silver stake through you?"

He pressed in again, so that Johnny could hear his heart hammering, feel his body shaking in anger and fear, even though his voice stayed steady. "People don't give a shit about prostitutes or whores or companions or whatever you're calling yourself. I care about you. I'm not letting you do something where someone can take advantage of you like that. I'll kill whoever's in charge."

Otoha stepped back, though he didn't let go of Johnny. "You realize that I'd kill for you, right? You point, I kill. Not because it's what I'm good at - but because I give enough of a shit about you that I want to keep you safe. If something happened to you, I'd..."

... Well. The way he shook should give enough of an indication.

"... Don't do this to yourself. Just... just don't. I respect you more than that."

"Otoha..." He slumped a bit, the wind taken from his sails. He could hear and feel and smell what Otoha was feeling; the fear and the anger...it was all there and it hurt more than anything Otoha could have done physically.

"It's just...what I'm used to. All of it, the good and the bad." Johnny's gaze softened and he closed his eyes, putting Otoha in control of the situation. His fight had run out. "I'm sorry. I didn't-" 'Know' was on the tip of his tongue but that was a lie and he caught it. He knew full well that Otoha disapproved, it was why he'd been hiding it.

"I didn't think it was that important." That he was that important.

He leaned in again, but this time it was to press his forehead against Johnny's.

"You're not trash. You're not an object. Stop treating yourself like one, because I'm trying, too."

Johnny brought his hands up to Otoha's face.

"I know." He went quiet, just listening to the sound of Otoha's heartbeat. It didn't happen often, but this was one of those times where what he was feeling didn't offer anything for him to say.

"...I guess I broke our promise too."

"I trust you. I trust you enough to not do stupid stuff like this. Don't make me chase after you again, jackass. We're in this together, okay? So if there's a problem, fucking ask what we can do to solve it, don't hide from me."

Maybe he'd overreacted a little, but he was scared. Scared that Johnny would get hurt in a way he couldn't heal from.

"Mmm...just like partners. Fair enough." The abrasive tone and word choice just made him smile. He knew they were Otoha's way of expressing feelings just as all the physicality had been.

Which was why he had to tease him. "Aaah...although, if I make you chase me down again, you'll be all rough and controlling....hmmm...this might be a harder promise to keep than I thought!"

His anger had cooled somewhat, and he just rolled his eyes at Johnny, letting him go.

"Idiot."

Hmph... how was he going to deal with this jerk.

Johnny just winked at him in response then turned his attention to his clothes. A little bit of concentration and his clothes transformed back to his usual loose shirt and slacks. He gave Otoha a small, honest, smile and threaded his arm around the other man's.

"But I'm your idiot. Let's go home, hmm? Unless you wanted to get a drink."

"Yeah. Let's get going."

He tucked his hands into his pockets. "We'll talk more about this later."

"Oh?"He didn't like the sound of that. Maybe Otoha will forget by the time 'later' rolls around. Hopefully. "Sounds ominous. Very well, if you want."

"Yeah."

He motioned for Johnny to follow him. "... That's the last time I take a shortcut by that perfume shop, by the way."

Seriously, this stuff is horrible.

He followed along happily enough, though he pulled a face when Otoha mentioned the scent currently ruining his sense of smell. "Good. Cologne's nice on occasion, but I'd prefer it in a smaller quantity, my nose is burning with it."

He gave Otoha a pointed look before returning his eyes forward. "You're taking a shower when we get home." And if Otoha argued, Johnny would strip him and wash him himself.

"I'll be glad to." Though, just to be a jerk, he closed the distance between them.
