▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

 

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

There had been a relative peace last month, apart from the fairy menace. The city was continuing to rebuild itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new opportunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little memento from home.

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefully anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[ This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts.

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independent log if you'd like!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona ONCE PER IC WEEK, but not in the same thread IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES: The creatures have to be in the Bestiary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

[Should she? She's pretty sure she's never heard any of her friends mention that they could talk to Nobodies, but maybe it had just never come up...]

Maybe it's because I'm not a, uhm, Nobody.

[Kairi really hated using that word, but she really doubted Xion would understand otherwise.]

They.. don't really talk much, I guess. So it might be normal for them not to talk to you?

[Considering their last conversation, and the wording Naminé had chosen... When Kairi chooses that particular word, calls her a Nobody, her posture relaxes. At least, enough so a change is evident.]

[princessofheart]

[...Huh. That was not exactly the kind of response, unspoken or otherwise, she expected by referring to Xion as a 'Nobody'. Well, she certainly wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth!]

Heh, I guess so! Maybe they don't think I'd be all too fun to talk to.

[Kairi pauses, an idea coming to mind.]

Would you like something to drink? I'm kind of parched, and I know there's gotta be a vending machine near by. My treat, of course.

[poppetstrings]

[Xion freezes when she's asked if she'd like a drink. Should she? Is it safe? She worries her lip a little, before- yep, hesitantly nodding.]

I- sure. I think that'd be fine.

[princessofheart]

Awesome! Let's go look, shall we? There's gotta be one nearby, there are vending machines everywhere in this world. It's actually pretty cool, you never know what you can find being vended in a vending machine; I've seen one that actually serves hot meals before!

[Hopefully the easy flow of conversation could help put Xion further at ease...]

[Actually, she has no clue whats going on. Sorry, Kairi. She just thinks you're getting her something to drink and then thats that.

So she'll actually stay quiet and just listen to her.]

[It doesn't take too long to locate a vending machine; after all, back when the country was whole, there was one vending machine to every 23 people. There were many different drinks available in the machine they had found, some of which rather obscure or odd sounding flavors, but definitely had at least one that'd look palatable to either girl. Kairi smiles over at Xion as she pulls out her passcard, pressing it against a part of the machine to register an intended sale.]

What would you like?

[poppetstrings]

[OH GOD SELECTIONS. HER???

She'll vaguely point to one, and hope that Kairi will just choose for her.]

That one is fine.

[princessofheart]

Alright~

[She presses the button for that and a strawberry milk soda and hits the ok, charging the cost onto her passcard as two drinks pop out in the dispenser. Kairi sticks the passcard back into her pocket and pulls the drinks out, offering Xion's out to her.]

Here you go!

[Wow, Kairi felt almost sort of giddy at how well this was going compared to last time.]

[poppetstrings]

[SUDDEN MOVEMENTS SHE CANT. Xion... really awkwardly grabs the can, making sure to not touch Kairi in any way shape or form while she does.

... And then looks at Kairi helplessly.]

How.. do I uhm. Drink it?

[Kairi tilts her head a little, surprised.]

You've never used a can, Xion?

[She holds out her own can, finger digging under the opener a little.]

You put your finger under this, right? And you apply some pressure....

[She pops the can open, a crisp sizzle sounding as the compression is let out.]

There! Like that.

[poppetstrings]

[Did she just jump from the sound of the can releasing? She totally did, but she wont say anything.

She wasn't expecting it, shut up.

Xion mimics Kairi, though she doesn't jump the second time around, now knowing what to expect.

It... smells fruity.]

[Kairi takes a sip of her drink and lets out a satisfied sigh, swishing the contents of the can around a little and looking over at Xion with a smile.]

Is it a good flavor? Some of the ones around here can be pretty weird.

[poppetstrings]

[Again, Xion watches Kairi carefully before taking a drink herself and-

It burns, and Xion fumbles with the can in surprise, ending up with some of her drink all over her glove and sleeve and-]

It- It burns!

[THIS WAS PLANNED ALL ALONG SHES GONNA DIE]

Ah--?!

[Oh my god suddenly flipping Xion--]

That's just the carbonation, it's okay! It's not actually burning!

[Kairi reaches a hand out to her to steady the other girl, expression concerned with a hint of surprise.]

[poppetstrings]

It's not? Carbonation?

[))): It was sweet but it burned and she's not sure if she should try it again or what.]

[princessofheart]

It's like a bunch of bubbles that make a drink all fizzy, it's really good! I imagine it would probably be a little startling if you weren't used to it though, so I can't really blame you for being alarmed.

[She gives her a reassuring smile.]

You should try another sip now that you know what to expect!

[poppetstrings]

[... Should she? It sort of seems like a bad idea, considering how startling it was the first time.

But Kairi hadn't shown any signs of discomfort. Maybe it was just hers?]

Can I try yours instead?

[Just to make sure you aren't fucking with her :|]

Sure, if you wanna.

[She offers out her can without even a little bit of hesitance; she was used to sharing things with Xion, having lived with her twice now in two different iterations. She'll find it just as bubbly as her own drink, but with a creamy strawberry flavor.]

[poppetstrings]

[... But she can't actually grab the can.

Since she has one hand full of keyblade and the other full of her own soda. She doesn't want to put her keyblade away. Not while Kairi's around, but her hands are full.

Excuse her while she dilemmas for a moment.]

[princessofheart]

Hm?

[She looks at her with confusion, having already put her keyblade away when they reached the vending machine because I forgot to mention that part. It seems to click after a moment, and she holds out her other hand towards Xion.]

Do you want me to hold your can for a moment?

[poppetstrings]

Yes please.

[At least she's still polite. She gives her own can up to exchange it with Kairi's, and, yep, same bubbly burning as before. Kairi wasn't secretly trying to poison her.

You've reduced her wary level by 10% now, Kairi. Congratulations.

Xion finally desummons her keyblade.]

They're both the same.

[princessofheart]

Yup! Both soda.

[If she were a Persona protagonist, she might just feel a social link coming on here.]

What brings you to this district, by the way?

I was collecting hearts. And trying to get some money.

[You know, usual Organization M.O. Though there's far less heartless here than she would like. She can't just slack on her job because she's not at home.]
