Terra Firma (Newcomer + 13th Hour Log)

▼ All things change, and we change with them (13th hour & arrival log)

Who: Anyone
Where: The entire city
When: Month of July (date your post accordingly!)
Summary: This is both a Newcomer log AND a General 13th hour log
Warnings: That depends who is there. Remember to mark your titles clearly if any warnings need to be issued!

▼ When it is darkest, men see the stars...(13th hour)

The night sky once again turned red as the 13th hour hit the city. By now it was almost too easy to accept it. The moon (or what was of it up there) shone, affecting the monster population in subtle ways.

There had been a relative peace last month, apart from the fairy menace. The city was continuing to rebuild itself, and with the aid of the Visitors, progress was going swiftly.

By now, even the strange events which had happened almost seemed a little too common. The pulls from a new building, or the odd creatures that showed up and increased the population for that hour gave rise to new opportunities; both good and bad.

To keep the population safe, the mayor had asked the city to stay inside and let the city police and Visitors do their job, despite the dividing population on this issue. For the most part, there wouldn't be much resistance.

Each night, the sky was always filled with at least one or two signs of something new, and people were ushered inside buildings as much as possible.

Who knew. Maybe tonight you'd get a little memento from home.

▼ Ode of the Newcomer

You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said. What time you showed here seems to be as random as everything else; if you were lucky it was during the day, if not, well the 13th hour was rather dangerous. Fortunately, there was a high chance you'd be spotted quickly.

...hopefully anyway.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

▼ Extra Long OOC Blurb

[ This is a dual log, both 13th hour, or newcomer posts.

This will be up to you on what you want to do; start a new post where you can character's name and OPEN and write the days they'll be wandering during the 13th hour.

If you are a newcomer, write OPEN and what hour they arrived. It can be the 13th hour if you want too! You are, of course, not required to reply here. You can do your own independent log if you'd like!

Join other people's post, do some exploration, post them fighting monsters and just have some fun leveling up / interacting! For this log, you can level up persona ONCE PER IC WEEK, but not in the same thread IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions is that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments just for the sake of leveling up (Ie, we want effort in them, as much as you would with a normal log.).

If you submitted a building and it was accepted, feel free to start a post with them discovering it! The original owners who submitted will be the first to see them, due to a strange pull that made they feel like they NEEDED to go to that area. What they do with this information is up to them; they can contact others in their group, start exploring by themselves or allow the thread to be open for others to come in with them...it's all up to you. That next morning, the government will be coming over to analyze them (that will be done offscreen, however).

FOR THE CREATURES: The creatures have to be in the Bestiary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.]

DON'T FORGET TO TAG WITH YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME PLEASE.

[Fenghuang is a noble phoenix, with multicolored feathers of living flame. Pyro will probably like this one.]

That's unfortunately more of a challenge, especially considering that most of the demons that appear in this town originated in worlds other than my own. The programming is keyed rather specifically to the spiritual wavelengths present in the demon world where I'm from.

[As soon as he notices that, he holds up a hand, twitching his fingers to see if he can manipulate those feathers. It's in no way threatening - if it works, the tips of the feathers will just curl and twist a bit - only a test he has to make when confronted with fire.

It pulls him right out of the conversation, in fact, so he misses a good deal of that. A living phoenix is way more important than things like actually solving the problem that brought them here.]

[Unfortunately, even though it's not meant as a threat, Fenghuang doesn't seem to take very kindly to anyone other than Fumi trying to control him. There's a loud screech as it flaps its wings, sending a gout of flame directly toward Pyro.]

[He's standing quite close, so it almost takes him by surprise, but not quite - the flame veers off, visibly growing hotter, and shoots straight back at Fenghuang. He doubts it'll hurt a being of fire, but this is meant to prove a point more than anything. Don't use his own weapon against him, demon.]

[His guess turns out to be correct. The fire hits Fenghuang head-on, but simply dissipates into the demon's form as it spreads its wings wide. At this point, however, Fumi steps in.]

That's enough out of both of you.

[And the demon stops. At least it's obedient.]

[personal profile] ex_outofcontrol435 2013-07-13 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
[He holds his hands out palm-up - the lighter sits in one of them, closed. No more fire from him.]

It's proud. [The other demon will get attention in a moment, but he's still too intrigued by the phoenix at the moment.] No one could've called that an attack. It'll take orders, but not be controlled.

[He can relate to that.]

Hm. So you were testing it.

[Fumi actually cracks a small smile at that, walking over to place a hand on the bird. It's harmless when it needs to be, and her hand is unharmed and unburnt.]

Yes, even demons have their pride. Many of them have quite a bit of it, in fact.

[personal profile] ex_outofcontrol435 2013-07-13 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, I just wanted to play with living fire.

[He could let her go on thinking that highly of him easily enough, but his shit-eating grin shows that he doesn't quite care enough.]

There's a big difference, though. Following someone or having them own you. And I'd rather work with something that had its own mind.

[Finally, he takes a side-step toward the last demon.]

Summoning and commanding demons takes immense spiritual potential, willpower, and no small amount of training. They're very much in control of their own minds, but will submit their power to a deserving and skilled tamer.

In fact, the first time someone new to the art summons their first demon, they have to defeat it in one on one combat before it or any others will listen to them at all. Anyone who fails the trial is killed by the demon.

[Lugh is the most human-looking of the three demons, with long flowing blonde locks, dressed in armor and carrying a mighty spear on his back.]

This is Lugh, the Celtic sun god. He's a particular favorite of mine, considering the details of his legend.
