M'gann Arrives

[Even for a Martian Superhero M'gann's night had been weird. After her conversation with the masked man, she had found herself dumped into a strange city. While she had initially panicked, M'gann felt much calmer about her situation when she remembered all the other odd places she had ended up with her team. After all there was no way this city could be worse than Fate's Tower. She reminded herself that she was a hero and since she was needed Miss Martian would answer the call.

Several hours later M'gann set out to explore the city and get acquainted with her new surroundings. The oddness of her arrival made her think that she wouldn't need to use her human disguise, so she set out with her skin still green. M'gann figured that direct questioning would be the best way to find out what she wanted to know so she approached the first person she met on the street.]

Excuse me. I'm new here, just got in last night actually. And I was wondering if you could help me out with finding my way around and such? Please?

[The first person she meets looks like he should be scrounging around in an alley somewhere, based on his disheveled appearance and messy long brown hair- he pauses and blinks at her in slight surprise (green skin?) before he understands what she's getting at.]

Oh! Oh, you're...you're new. [His voice is on the timid side.] Um. I don't really know if I'm the best at that, but...I know a bit about Hinoto-Ri to know the important places.

...Has the whole Persona thing been explained to you yet?

The persona thing was explained to me a little bit, nut I could use more information on that if you're willing to help.

[M'gann smiles at the man. He seems a bit skittish so she tries to look as nonthreatening as she possibly can.]

[He nods, giving his best attempt at a smile, before scratching his head.] Okay, well...you use them to protect yourself, really. They're kind of like beings who are part of your mind and come out when you're in danger. Kind of useful, really.

Do you know about the 13th hour?

[M'gann thinks hard trying to remember all the information she received last night.]

It's some sort of magical time at night. Right?

[Nano blinks as Megan walks up to her, clearly noticing the green skin but deciding not to comment on it unless she does. It isn't as if she doesn't personally appreciate the difficulty in looking different from everyone else when you're just trying to fit in, after all.]

Oh! Um... sure, I don't mind.

Thank you for helping, I really appreciate it.

[M'gann pauses for a moment trying to figure out what she needs to know the most. She feels a bit overwhelmed with this new world.]

Well ... Um is there anything you wish you had been told when you got here?

[Nano thinks for a moment and then frowns slightly.]

I wish they had told me how dangerous the city can be sometimes.

Any particular dangers I should know about?

[Noticing that Nano looks a bit upset M'gann backs off a little.]

If you don't mind telling me that is.

Well, there are monsters that come out at night, but besides that...

[Nano glances left and right before leaning in to speak in a lower register.]

...there's a group called the Anoli that cause a lot of trouble.

Trouble? What kind of trouble so they cause?

[all_wound_up]

They're a terrorist group. Last time they attacked a tournament that was being held in the Aries district, and a lot of people got hurt.

[M'gann gasps]

Oh no. Has anyone tried to stop them?

[all_wound_up]

It's hard. No one knows who any of the members are, or where they meet.

Well is anyone at least investigating them?

I'm not really sure.

[The person she has approached is a girl wearing a black and white costume - this will probably not seem as jarring to Miss Martian than to the rest of the Hinoto-Ri populace. Phantom Girl is sticking her arm into the middle of some bushes for one reason or another when she is addressed.]

Um, sure. Give me one second here...

[She casts about for a few moments more before her hand closes around something and she draws it back out.]

Great. OK, what do you wanna --

[A slight pause as she turns around and sees the person speaking to her.]

...You know, I'm sure there are a lot of good reasons to be green, but I kind of really, really hope you say yes to this - Are you a Martian?

[M'gann is obviously taken aback by the question.]

Yes. How do you know about Mars?

[phantom_envoy]

Yessss!

[Phantom Girl floats up into the air a little bit as she cheers.]

I think you might be from my world! ...I mean, not like we've ever met, but. Details.

I'm Phantom Girl. I'm a Bgztlian.

[Please let that word mean something to you please let that word mean something to you.]

Bgztlian? I don't know where that is. I live on Earth.

What?! How can you not know where Bgztl is? You look exactly like a Martian from my world.

[Phantom Girl looks slightly irritated as she sighs.]

Oh, never mind. It's probably some weird parallel universe that's exactly the same except Bgztl doesn't exist.

Do you have a United Planets? New Metropolis?

New Metropolis? We do have a city called just Metropolis.

[M'gann figures that there's one person everyone from her world would know.]

It's where Superman lives. Have you heard of Superman?

[phantom_envoy]

Of course I've heard of Superman, I --

[A sudden pause.]

Oh, duh. Of course you're from the 21st century; everyone else in this place is. ...Did we not make contact with the Martians then? I can't remember.

[And then she suddenly perks up.]

...But oh my gosh, this totally means we are from the same world! Just, you know, half a millennium apart, but. Details.

[M'gann perks up at the revelation too.]

That's wonderful. Judging by the costume I guess that you're a hero too. Or does everyone dress like that when you come from?

[phantom_envoy]

...Well, this is modeled after the formal dress of my people, but nope - it's a superhero costume. I go by Phantom Girl - Phantom Girl of the Legion of Superheroes of the 31st century.

Nice to see the future is secure. So what do you do around here?

What do I do?

[She pauses.]

Mostly, I fly around and harass random people about whether or not they've heard of the United Planets, so -- mission success! ...Sort of.

Otherwise, you're probably asking about the Personas and demons and... all of that kind of thing, right?

Well any information regarding that would be helpful. I got know a little bit but I'm still piecing it all together.

[M'gann pauses]

Also I have to ask, is your Legion associated with the Justice League?

[phantom_envoy]

The Justice League?

[A brief moment to ponder on the term.]

That's the team Superman works with when he grows up, right? No, we're something else altogether. The Legion is an intergalactic organization that works with the United Planets - there's more out there than just Earth.

That makes sense. So is there anyone running a heroic organization in this city?

[phantom_envoy]

Not really. I mean, we're all supposed to be here to do heroic things, right?

[Phantom Girl gives a small shrug.]

I'd start a chapter of the Legion or something, but I'm still pretty new myself.
