A Game of Cat and Mouse

It was surely a long and boring day and a half spent in the cages, but finally you're getting to stretch your legs... in the arena, of course.

Without much of a warning, you suddenly find yourself ushered in to a new room, the roaring sounds of cheering demons practically bursting your eardrums with the sheer volume. Looking up, you can see their looming forms seated all around you with no end in sight, as if you were on the field in a large stadium surrounded by seating. However, you seem to be stuck in your own little space, the walls just high enough to prevent any climbing or flying to escape them. Wait... your own space doesn't seem to quite be the right word, as there is someone else stuck in here looking just as confused and overwhelmed as you are.

Ah yes, this was an illegal fighting tournament, wasn't it?

Not a beat later you're dragged into a mental commlink with Q, one of the members of the Seven. Q is gathering all the resources he has available and help is on the way; it just might take a little while yet. Your role is a small but important one: do not succumb to the will of the demons, and do please try to stay alive until your fellow Visitors arrive! He or one of the others in the group will keep you updated as they progress.

So, there it is. You need to stall, to buy time. It might not seem like it sometimes, but demons are pretty simple creatures when you get down to it. As long as they're entertained... well, you could probably stall a fight for as long as needed. Remember, your life and the lives of those stuck in the situation with you depends on it. You don't want this 'fight to the death' to come to its logical conclusion, do you? Q has an entire search team on its way, so hold tight until then.

As the demons continue whoop and cheer, you can hear the sounds of a microphone being adjusted, as if someone is about to speak. The voices begin to quiet down to an excited murmur, and as far as those involved in the tournament are concerned, you could cut the building tension with a knife. After this announcement...it would be time to begin.

(ooc: Welcome to the Arena! Your job is a simple one; keep the crowd interested, and try not to hurt each other too horribly until the cavalry arrives. During your fights, you may find a tag here and there from a demon from the crowd either cheering you on or booing your poor tactics-- sometimes they might even give you some help if you catch their favor. Or maybe they'll throw things at you for being boring, who knows. Be on the look out, and have fun!)

Blues - Defend, Sniper Joe - Twin Shot

Hey, they are supposed to be putting on a show. So doing something flashy, like that, is the point. Right?

Well that and Blues wasn't going to fight in a toga, he has to have some dignity in all this. Zelgius' speed isn't too surprising, as Blues brings an arm up to block the blade with a grunt as his Persona shows up.

And fires two shots at Zelgius, although the swordman might notice that it's aimed a bit off as to not exactly... Hit him.

Zelgius -> Attack, Altina -> Cleave

It's fine that the attack was blocked. Zelgius can just try again, this time with a little extra added something. He makes another swing with this blade, summoning his Persona at the same time. She strikes towards Blues with a Cleave, an attack that may or may not have much effect, given the strength towards physical attacks. The Twin Shot just barely misses Zelgius, though he's not sure whether to expect it to come closer or to continue to miss next time.

Blues -> Attack, Sniper Joe -> Rakukaja

Blocking attacks isn't going to get them far, so Blues is going to charge right in. Which means he's going to take both hits, but that doesn't seem to slow the robot down even when the Cleave and the sword hit the less armored parts of him. (ie: anything that isn't his boots or gauntlets.)

Sniper Joe on the other hand is going to boost Blues' defenses with a quick cast of Rakukaja.

Zelgius -> Defend, Altina -> Kouha

Zelgius braced himself for the impact of Blues's attack, holding his sword up to parry. He had other plans for his Persona, however. He directed Altina to launch a Kouha blast to knock Blues back a bit. He was unsure as to what the light of Rakukaja actually did, but assumed it must have been some sort of buff. Whether it was to attack or defense (magical defense, possibly, since he considered it separate from physical defense like it was in his world), he would probably find out soon.

Blues - Unique Skill : Arm Canon (Light), Sniper Joe - Agi

Considering Blues' attack consisted of throwing a punch, the sword parry is probably the best move Zelgius could do. Well that and the sound of metal hitting metal is probably a nice sound to hear in the middle of a fight, although not one that Blues likes. If the wincing he did is any good sign of that.

And then the Persona attacked, and did what Zelgius had wanted it to do, getting Blues to back away from him. While Blues' physical defense is boosted, if only for a bit, it didn't quite lessen how much the magic attack hurt, so it shouldn't be to surprising that he has his own Persona strike with some magic of it's own. Sniper Joe firing off an Agi spell at Zelgius which Blues himself will follow with a quick shot from his arm cannon, having switched his left hand into it pretty quickly.

Zelgius -> Defend, Altina -> Kouha

Zelgius was more than used to the sound of metal hitting metal. He had spent his life around the sound, so to speak. What confused him was that the metal sound seemed to be coming from his opponent's hand. For the time being, he shrugged it off; there would be time for questions later, especially considering the fact that he had two blasts of what seemed to be magic (at least, he thought the arm cannon was magic) coming towards him. He used Altina to absorb the hit, unaware that Personas made poor meat shields. Pain wracked his body; neither attack was unusually effective, but taking a hit to the extension of your soul was bound to hurt. He gritted his teeth and had Altina launch another Kouha at Blues.
