What a way to start the first of September...

As they usher the last of you in, you realize that they've been preparing this for quite a while. There is a small table with food on the right, mixed cuisine (although the main theme seems to be Japanese dishes). Some strange computer program appears next to you and seems to be translating what you are saying so those before you understand. Language barriers? Don't be silly!

Most of the men ignore you after that. You are expected to mingle amongst yourselves a bit before the main 'show' starts, it seems....

[ Rin can't say she's thrilled to be here. For someone who was in a dangerous situation and on the verge of life and death itself, she doesn't seem happy to be free from those binds. At the start, she can be found standing around in a corner with her arms crossed over her chest. That look on her face is daring anyone to approach her.

As time progresses, her demeanor shifts into a more reasonable one. With the hostility gone, she can be seen poking around at some of the food dishes or trying to argue with the 'weird screen' that's popped up to translate things. ]

Kitten? [ Rin pauses, only to glance around to see that yes, he meant her. ] You're not good at picking nicknames, are you?

[ With a huffy "harumph", she turns her head to the side. ]

What exactly can you help me with?

[Urgk! Not a fan of nicknames huh?] ...

W-well we're all new here, so I thought...we should help each other out?

So you don't know a thing, do you? [ Bluntly said. ]

It wouldn't hurt to help each other out, but what good is it to wonder in speculation?

What is there to be impressed about? [ Feeling significantly weaker only made her feel more helpless about the situation as she shrinks away from him a bit more. ] Well, I'm listening.

[ There's a lot of it that strikes Rin as unusual, but admitting to it might be a downside. Reluctant to let people close, she just shrugs her shoulders. ]

What do you mean? You can't say that and not expect someone to ask for clarification.

[Once Lizzie has dried off a little, she makes her way to the food like the rest of the party is, not realizing until now that she's famished. As she picks and chooses a few things to nibble at, she notices Rin and beams at the sight of her. Her skirt is altogether too short for Lizzie's tastes, but her pigtails!]

Your hair is done up very cutely, miss!

It is? [ Just got done fighting in a war for her life and the first thing she gets told is something she'd likely hear at school? It's refreshing in all honesty as she calms down a bit, the tension leaving her body at the sudden compliment. ] T-Thanks...

Do you wear your hair like that often? [ Taking note of her own, that is. ]

[Lizzie makes note of how the older girl relaxes and gives her a gentle smile.]

Every day. Though Mother tells me every other day that soon I'll be too old for them.

Too old for them? [ She's never heard of that, but then again her own mother situation is not one to be taken lightly. ] Is that something mothers say?

[She tilts her head.] My mother says that, yes. Though I'm not sure if that's because I am from an older time period than you, or if it is something all mothers say.

I wouldn't really know. The last time I spoke with my mother was when I was seven years old. It might be something that happens in modern time too.

[ Now that she thinks about it... she's the only character in the Nasuverse with twintails. Damn it, mom. ]

Oh...I'm sorry. [She herself can't imagine not seeing her mother for several days, let alone several years.]

At any rate, I'll likely be made to let my hair down. I'm looking forward to it, though, it means I'll be a real lady.

You can be a real lady with your hair up too! [ Huff. ]
