[Game Opening, Part 2 - A Thousand Words or More]

Who: (Everyone OPEN LOG)
Where: (City Hall)
Summary: (After arriving you got to mingle a bit but now it's time for explanations! Finally!)
Warnings: (Some guy LIKES TO TALK LIKE THIS!!)
Style: (The text is in prose, but feel free to write back in action tags if you feel more comfortable.)
Suitable Music: This.

When someone finally speaks up...he's rather hard to miss.

"WELCOME! To YOUR NEW LIIIIIFE!" If anything, this fellow demanded attention, what with the costume he was wearing. What a way to get introduced to this new world.

"My name...is DR. BYRON ORPHEUUUUS! But you can call me Orpheus...Dr. Orpheus if you're really insistent. REGARDLESS! It was BY THE FATES that you were all plucked from your lives and brought here to aid this city in its greatest time of need. Yes, all of you will become HEROES! With the power of your PERSONA you shall become the riotous fury of..."

"Is such enthusiasm really necessary, Orpheus?" The voice that interrupts Byron sounds slightly modulated, and comes from the large blue and grey metal man behind the others. His voice is loud enough that he doesn't require the microphone - one of the few perks that comes with being a giant robot in a world like this.

"I am Brainstorm, and I am responsible for a sizeable amount of the work that went into a lot of the tech you all have, or have experienced the beneficial effects of, unknowingly. Those of you with large objects from home have me to thank for that transport system. The Evokers used in the arena? Me again. As well as a fair amount of tweaking and perfecting your COMPs and watches you received. I do hope you manage some degree of appreciation, as crafting devices to fit such small beings was incredibly painstaking for someone like myself. Working on nanomachines at this size isn't easy. Now, I know you organics have short attention spans, but do try and keep up, because I hate to repeat myself..."

"I suppose it's an unfortunate eventuality that some number of you will somehow manage to break something. If that happens, you may contact me about repairs, but I am usually quite busy, and I'm not going to be happy about having to deal with the consequences of your carelessness. However, if it becomes necessary, my workshop is in the Cancer district."

"And with Brainstorm's explanation, I suppose it is my cue to go next. Permit me to introduce myself..."

"Now then, as it was explained, when the Seven of us arrived here, we found out we had been expected, just like you. Unlike you, however, while they knew we were coming...they had little to no where we'd come from. Let's just say it has been quite a learning experience for both sides and leave it at that." He gave them a small smile. Ahh the misunderstandings that had happened...even amongst themselves.

"We wandered around blindly during the first week. Not just to adjust from our worlds to this one, but, quite frankly, we had no idea what to do! Fortunately, a few weeks later, the Three Wise Men appeared and aided us to understand the nature of Persona. Each of them were knowledgeable in the subject. You'll be able to speak with one of them once he's done...with personal things involving family...but that isn't our concern, isn't it? Let's go on with what we've learned so far."

He moved his hand on his watch and a series of images flashed in front.

"Persona can be called forth in various ways. So far our knowledge extends into three methods; the first is a blast of energy from your soul that gives form to your inner Persona. That one will com naturally to you. The second, is made using this..."

His took something from the nearby podium and held it into the air.

"You might think this is a normal handgun, but it is actually an Evoker. It can also be used to bring out your Persona. By giving you a feeling of stress and danger, which can also bring out your Persona naturally, it jump starts your summoning. However, we tend to encourage using the normal summoning method. The device was perfected by Brainstorm, Hazama, the Wisemen and myself. We created it to aid the police force summon their Persona faster during riots but recently...it's even become popular during Persona Duels."

"...But I'm sure you'll find out about those in the city soon enough, what with their ridiculous popularity. We shalln't dwell on those." He put the gun down. "The final method uses arcana cards. You can summon more than your inner Persona, although I am sure this is completely new information to you. Do not worry, you'll learn it soon enough like we have. To do so...you'll need to gain more. I believe next week is when the Velvet room will appear again according to our calculations, Miss Mcgonagall?"

"That is correct."

"Well then!" The man continued on. "We can explain that in due time. Now let's go into something really interesting. Did you notice how you have items from your homeworld with you? Consider yourselves lucky, we didn't have that luxury. It was only through our preparations that we were able to do this. You see, when a soul enters this world, they are still tied to their old world by a special strand. Normal users can't see it, but ahh!...Those like myself who Intel more than fight, well, our Persona allow us to see them. By combining our technology and magic, we devised a system which grabs those things which are near and dear to your heart. Just how we did this would require a few days of explanation, ergo I will spare you the details for now. Those that wish to know more can come to my office later. In any case...you're welcome."

The man shuffled his hands, and grinned. Obviously he had been waiting to explain to them the next part. It was brief and short.

"As for the strands, considering they are your passport to your old homeworld, so to speak, your anchor to your life...we've named them..."

"Destiny Strings."

"Don't worry, you will not be able to see them right away. It took me a week before I could grasp the strings to become visible. Of course there were only ten of us, so therein the challenge....

Not that there's that much to see here currently..." he sighed, exasperated in a way that only a man of his caliber could do (and yet it was so delightfully British) "Is this really what we'll have to be working with? We already have Orpheus who--"

"I BEG YOU PARDON?!"

"Oh you know exactly what I mean. Talking about in that exaggerated manner of yours--"

"Really, if you two are going to continue blathering and arguing like true imbeciles," McGonagall spoke in the middle, coldly, "let someone else speak up. At this rate, we'll be here all night and it is a full moon..."

The two men glared at each other for a second before Q finished, adjusting his tie.

" Yes, well....I do not think of myself as a fool, thank you very much, but there is truth in your words. Ciel, if you please?"

"Okay! I guess it's my turn then!"

The petite girl gave the assembly a small bow. Despite the amount of people before her, she didn't seem the least bit phased. A natural leader, if there was one.

"There is much to discuss." Her fingers moved over her watch and a 3D map of the city appeared before them, glowing green shapes with markings over each district. You might notice a few areas are still in the dark. "This is what we have of the city...so far. Unfortunately, many places still allude us. Hinoto-Ri is vast, and there are a number of areas in each distinct that are currently too dangerous to enter. Those restricted areas are protected by the police force to keep the population out. We hope to finish mapping them out as soon as we can...carefully."

"Regardless, let us look at what we have about each district, one by one."

"Now, are there any questions?"

[OOC - You can start your own threads, speak amongst yourself with the new information or just ask questions to the assembled cast]
universebeware: (Here's your problem. You're not me.)

Questions directed toward Brainstorm.

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-02 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Feel free to bombard Brainstorm with questions. He wishes you wouldn't, though. However, we don't really care how he feels in regards to this.
zero_to_herooo: (Eiji: huh?)

Re: Questions directed toward Brainstorm.

Eiji raised his hand. "I have a question! So if these string things connect us back to wherever we came from, that means we can go back, right?"

No offense or anything, but he'd really rather be in his own world. He had a cranky bird monster to save.
universebeware: (Shut up. I'm thinking. Unlike you.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-02 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Brainstorm sighs. At least they were getting the obvious question out of the way first.

"I hope everyone's listening, because I'm not going to repeat this after I say it. You can return home, yes. However, you won't remember your time here. You'll pick up right where you left off, though if you return here, you'll find that you remember your prior time here." He folds his arms, and looks rather put-out. "Tried that myself, but that guy with the strange mask is rather insistent on having our help, so if you go back, he might bother you again. You won't remember him, though - at least until you come back."

zero_to_herooo: (Eiji: huh?)

[personal profile] zero_to_herooo 2012-09-02 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
"What? That seems way too easy..." I mean usually when Eiji traveled through time or something, black holes or DenLiners were involved and technically he'd almost destroyed the timeline that one time but.

"Is that why you guys are here, because this guy keeps kidnapping you?"
universebeware: (I am unamused.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-02 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Like I said. Insistent."

A pause.

"That, and it's moderately more interesting than things going on at home." And no so-called friends and security officers breathing down his neck and trying to figure out his projects.
zero_to_herooo: (Eiji: this should do)

[personal profile] zero_to_herooo 2012-09-02 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow Brainstorm you must be super bored at home

"So I guess he's not gonna let up till he gets whatever he's after? Why does he want us around, exactly?"

Maybe Eiji could just finish this up with a Scanning Charge or something.
universebeware: (We can tell them apart now at least.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-02 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, not being one of the main-main cast leaves him with a lot of time on his hands.

"Seems that way. We're around mostly due to the fact that this town has a pesky little monster problem. Creatures that terrorize the populace at night that need dealing with. Thus, these Persona things." Brainstorm seems bored by the concept. "Not sure why those are needed specifically when a well-built laser rifle can do just as good a job, but I apparently have no say in that."
zero_to_herooo: (Eiji: huh?)

[personal profile] zero_to_herooo 2012-09-02 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Eiji couldn't quite figure out why Butterfly Mask Guy had to bother with kidnapping a bunch of people from their worlds, dumping them in the town, and giving them random powers when clearly the solution was to just get himself a Kamen Rider, but it seemed like everyone else had the situation under control already.

"So has anyone been able to ask this guy in person, then?"
universebeware: (Because screw gravity.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-05 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope. He just... Shows up sometimes, when he feels like he needs to speak with you." Brainstorm shakes his head a bit. "Really weird guy, even without taking the mask thing into account."
zero_to_herooo: (Eiji: chat)

[personal profile] zero_to_herooo 2012-09-05 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, I mean. The mask wasn't that weird." There was NOTHING WRONG WITH MASKS, OKAY.

"But okay. I guess when I'll see him next, I'll ask him what he wants. Maybe if we find that out, he'll let everyone go back." Or if he was a villain, he could be administered a liberal dose of Rider Kick.

otakuro: (Surprise)

[personal profile] otakuro 2012-09-02 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Atsuro holds his COMPs, one in each hand, and stares blankly. There was no way that the two totally bizarre situations he'd been thrust into in less than the space of the week both relied on other-worldly technology that were named COMP by accident.

Well. There was one person he could ask about it, anyway. Giant robot person. He'd been too impressed to do much but stare before, but...

"H-Hey...! Why -- Why did you name this thing a COMP?"
universebeware: (I'm a genius. You're not.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-02 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
...wait, how'd that kid get two of them?

"The name stands for 'Compound Online Magic Portals'. They're powered by a battery and magic that shouldn't run out anytime soon, and can withstand extreme temperatures and heavy usage due to the spells contained within them. The name wasn't my idea - came from the person that we got the tech from, I just did a little adjusting on them to prep them for the arrivals. As for who we got the tech from, you'll meet them soon enough."
otakuro: (Embarrassed)

[personal profile] otakuro 2012-09-02 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Granted, one more resembled a shiny gaming system than nanochip-based glasses. 'Compound Online Magic Portals'? Not exactly identical programming, but still... Atsuro shakes his head and replaces the one from his world back into his pocket.

"I'm guessing you're not going to spill the beans on that."

He wouldn't be at all surprised if Naoya suddenly appeared on stage with his obnoxious grin.

universebeware: (Do not make me open this.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-02 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
"I said you'll meet them soon enough. I know you organic beings have horribly short lifespans, but a bit of patience would do you some good." Do not poke the cranky robot, Atsuro. He pokes back.
otakuro: (Serious)

[personal profile] otakuro 2012-09-02 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, he was fated to die today. ...And also yesterday. And two days before that. Impatience is a virtue by this point, OK? Still, it was probably unwise to provoke something that could step on you, and so Atsuro retreats with a sigh.

...Ten seconds later, he's back with the glasses on his eyes and the wristwatch open the way it's supposed to be. Tech geek learns fast.

"Geez! I thought you were joking about the nanomachines, but there's no way this could run on silicon wafers alone! Who is this guy?"

And where can I grovel at his feet?
universebeware: (I am unamused.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-02 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not saying it again." Brainstorm folds his arms, and gives Atsuro as much of a 'son I am disappoint' face as one can with a facemask and optics.
otakuro: (Sad)

[personal profile] otakuro 2012-09-02 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
"Aw, man. I'm dying to see how this was put together here."

Atsuro will retreat again with the occasional exclamation of unabashed geekery as he continues to fiddle with his new toys.
jundere: (09 - Junexpectedly funny.)

[personal profile] jundere 2012-09-02 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait... that robot was important? Nobody told Jun that, and she had just tried to climb him!

"Sup, Brainstorm? I didn't know you were one of the bigwigs around here."
universebeware: (Here's your problem. You're not me.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-04 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I am indeed, so I kind of have to be here. It'd be appreciated if people could do their part to make it less troublesome."

Or in a roundabout way of saying things, please don't ask him any stupid questions.
jundere: (09 - Junexpectedly funny.)

[personal profile] jundere 2012-09-05 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Does that mean it's not just me that isn't allowed to climb on you?"

She grins, hoping that he's not mad at her or anything.

Or not too mad at her, at least.

"It must be kind of a pain to be important in a situation like this, though. Imagine all the inane questions..."
universebeware: (I am unamused.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-05 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. No one is allowed to climb on me, at all. Ever."

Jun gets a sharp nod. "It is, and I don't have to imagine that," he adds, with quite the long-suffering tone. "...but if I don't field a lot of them, then the long-winded-and-loudmouthed magic guy over there will keep us here for days," he adds.
jundere: (01 - Jun in a million)

[personal profile] jundere 2012-09-05 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh... that doesn't sound very pleasant. She can't help but wonder, though, does that make the magic dude the boss around these parts?

Something told her that Brainstorm wouldn't appreciate a probably stupid and pointless question like that, though, so she decided that she would save the question for later. Or for someone else alltogether.

"What's the dumbest question you've been asked so far, then? Feel like sharing?"
universebeware: (I'm a genius. You're not.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-05 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a long delay before Brainstorm answers where he just stares at Jun, then points at her.

"That one."
jundere: (25 - Sorry. Forget I said that.)

[personal profile] jundere 2012-09-05 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouch. Should've seen that one coming a mile away. She laughs neverously and rubs the back of her head in a half embarrassed half ammused fashion.

"I guess it was kinda stupid, huh...?"

She follows up her question with a sigh and a smile.

"You're not one for having casual chit chat or fun, are you?"
universebeware: (I am unamused.)

[personal profile] universebeware 2012-09-20 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd say that 'kinda' understates it." Brainstorm folds his arms, then shakes his head. "No, I'm not. At least not the common definitions of fun."
