The last of the effects of TRIHARDO have faded, and the city has slowly returned to its senses. Sheepish civilians emerge before dawn to restore graffitied property in shame; friends and family alike murmur awkward apologies as they realize the transgressions committed in the previous days. They work quickly. By daybreak of the 22nd, it seems as Hinoto-Ri has largely recovered from the effects of the Zodiac monster...

Just in time for the annual Fall Festival. Close on the heels of the previous event, the attempted feeling was much the same. Booths selling assorted merchandise including lucky bamboo rakes and all manner of gourd-based household items (have you ever wanted a bowl made from a squash?), activities ranging from bobbing for apples to what appeared to be a 'largest squash' competition, and of course, food. Lots and lots and lots of food, from fresh fruits and fresh berries to candied apples and yams to more traditional chrysanthemum candies and taro and rice cakes. Consciously or not, Hinoto-Ri has fused a variety of customs into a single event, allowing for familiar fun for those of any background.

Through it all, though, there hangs a sense of unease and a slightly subdued atmosphere. Painted trees and bushes are still visible, and the destruction of property caused by overzealous citizens has not been fully restored. Whether or not the people of the city blame the Visitors for the events of the previous weeks remains uncertain...

▼ Tis now the very witching time of night

 

Soon enough, the curfew comes and in the blink of an eye, it seems, the festival has disbanded. The memories of the Virgo attack are still too fresh, and citizens and merchants alike retreat to the safety of their homes. Whether or not the private conference from earlier that week had any conclusion, the Visitors, it seems, are still granted free rein of the night.

11:58. 11:59. ...Now. Once again, the night sky is dyed a crimson red as the 13th Hour falls upon the city. And from the ether, the demons come forth, called by the fanatic light of the moon. It is only three days from the full moon, and the monsters remain aggressive.

But the 13th Hour is hardly a unique phenomenon. It comes nightly and by now, both Visitors and citizens alike have doubtlessly learned to accept it. On any night of the week, venturing out during this time will surely result in trouble...

[ This is a dual log encompassing both the Fall Festival on the 22nd of September and 13th Hour posts running throughout the entire week and even month. We're trying a different format this time with more potential prompts; go ahead and start as many threads as you'd like under the appropriate section! Please tag with your character's name and OPEN. If you respond to the 13th Hour section, please write the days your character is out and about.

You have free rein in this log - join other people's posts, explore the festival, post them fighting monsters and enjoy leveling up/interacting! For this log, you can level up persona ONCE PER IC WEEK, but not in the same thread IC-wise. Please do not abuse this. The conditions are that the fighting must happen on different days. The threads should be long enough that an attack is possible and shouldn't just be a few comments for the sake of leveling up (i.e.: we want effort in them, as much as you would make with a normal log.)

FOR THE CREATURES: The creatures have to be in the Bestiary for you to use them. You don't need to use creatures from your own home worlds either, as long as someone's put in a creature in there! (Also, make sure your characters could logically take on the creatures you pick let's not have them take down a giant creature when they couldn't normally.) ]

"Someday Desco will beat up Godzilla and reign supreme as Queen of Monsters!"

Slight pause.

"It will make a good match with her title as Queen of Earth, too!"

...Queen of Earth.

[Excuse the slight incredulity here.]

"Yes! Desco personally beat up all the defenders of Earth and conquered the world the last time she was home!"

Is that so? Because things went rather differently when invaders attempted to conquer the world I'm from.

[tyrantball]

At this, Desco pauses and gives Fumi a long, considering look.

"...hm. Don't worry! Desco is sure you'll win next time! Justice doesn't always prevail, after all!"

You misunderstand. We did win.

[tyrantball]

"...you were one of the good guys?"

CONSIDERING.

"Desco normally doesn't make mistakes like that!"

You can hardly be blamed for it. After all, I'm positive you weren't among the list of invaders. Statistically, the likelihood that you and I are from the same Japan in the same universe is rather small.

[tyrantball]

"Desco's full name is Death/Extermination Submersible Combat Organism Kazamatsuri! What's yours?"

That's quite a mouthful. I can see why you've taken to using an acronym. My name is Fumi Kanno.

[tyrantball]

"Plus, Desco is much cuter!"

A shark-toothed grin.

"Would Miss Fumi like to go beat up demons with Desco?"

That is what I'm here to do. I suppose I don't mind having some help.

"Okay! Let us slaughter our enemies and rise up on their bones!"

With that, Desco deploys Usatako as she moves into battle mode.

[terminally_clever]

[Fumi calls her Persona once again with a small chuckle, the great Tower of the Sun rising up behind her.]

Well then, let's get started.

[tyrantball]

A trio of overly large squirrels scurries out of the shadows at this, incisors bared. Desco regards them calmly and proceeds to summon her Persona.

"Pele!"

She makes an elaborate gesture with her crimson claws, indicating that Fumi has first go.

PERSONA SKILL: Sabotage+

[terminally_clever]

Hm. I'd been hoping for one. Well, no matter.

[Fumi points at the group of squirrels, and the statue's eyes glow. A reddish light washes down over the demons, weakening them and softening them up nicely for whatever it is Desco's preparing to do.]

PERSONA SKILL: Electrical Storm

[tyrantball]

Desco raises her arm above her head and inscribes a dramatic downward arc as she gleefully shouts out a command.

"Electrical STORM!"

The lead squirrel is engulfed by the bolt - when it dies away, the monster is tottering unsteadily, fur blackened. The other two, galvanized (ha!) by the assault on their leader, leap forward, incisors bared.

Desco responds to this by flinging up her arms, causing the squirrels to latch on and begin gnawing fiercely. The tiny demon doesn't seem to notice.

PERSONA SKILL: Eyes of God

...Well, that's convenient. Hold still for a moment.

[Fumi points at Desco's arms. Her Persona's eyes flash again - this time a brilliant white - and a searing beam of light fires forth, colliding with one of the squirrels currently attacking Desco.]

PERSONAL SKILL - Mega Star

[tyrantball]

Desco nods appreciatively at that before throwing the battered squirrel at the one she had just zapped, leaving them dazed in a pile. Her Persona collapses into blue shards of light as she shakes the third squirrel off her arm and levels an imperious claw at it.

"Etch the sky - Mega STAR!"

A free-floating, rune-inscribed circle of energy forms around the squirrel at the command, defining the area of the spell. A thick laser issues forth from one of the runes, reflecting around the sides of the circle before the entire thing erupts in a pillar of light - that is still tightly contained within the confines of the circle.

Desco claps her hands together in glee, her primary tentacles snapping and writhing in accompaniment.

PERSONA SKILL: Demon's Kiss

I have to admit, that was quite impressive.

[Fumi points once again at the pile of squirrels, and the 'eyes' on the golden ornament on top of the tower light up. The beam that shoots forth this time, however, is composed of pure inky blackness, deeper than the night sky. It collides with the two dazed squirrels, dissolving them into nothingness.]

Grin grin grin.

"When Desco became a teacher she realized that she needed more than just brute force to bring her students in line!"

A teacher and the ruler of Earth. You certainly do get around.

[tyrantball]

"Yes! Desco teaches Basic Minionhood at Evil Academy!"

Several of her smaller tentacles start humming happily at this.

There's an academy for that sort of thing?

Nod nod.

"Netherworld Institute Evil Academy, the most famous school in all the Netherworlds!"

Desco is full of pride.

"Desco works at a very prestigious school!"
