With the issue still unresolved as the days passed by, the Visitors and the Guests of Geartopia were reaching a peak as more of them appeared from the time rifts. Morale could plummet, but the mayoress would never allow that.

Thankfully, the city itself was hospitable and welcoming to all. The villagers that composed it were a colorful cast, after all. Perhaps drowning your sorrows in booze and a night of dancing would be helpful. Don't worry about the kids... well, there aren't any age limits here after all (...wait...)!

The Thirsty Mare was a large building that could hold the entire town if it needed to do so. Carved out of wood from the nearby forest with the permission of the Ancient Spirits, it rose above Geartopia like a protective beacon. It was a new building as well, no older than ten years, thus new even to the heroes who had come here before. A symbol of the growing economy and peace all around them, it was half town hall, half tavern.

At night? Definitely a tavern.

Cages of fireflies are hung up in the air, as pieces of moss and leaves are strung decoratively against the large heavy trees forming the building's skeleton. Lighting is provided with gas lamps hung around and a gigantic crystal chandelier in the middle.

To the left, a bar seats a few patrons who get tired of dancing, serving drinks for all. Don't worry; it's on the house tonight. At the far off of the hall, a giant table had been prepped with food: entire turkeys, beans (everyone loves beans here, it's quite magical), rye bread, corn, apple pie and sugar pie.

And the alcohol is definitely felt tonight, as the musicians (two wolves and what looks like a bear) settle in and begin playing. Most serious work could be held off until tomorrow, after all.

For now, have some fun! Try not to get drunk too much, the Cactus Juice here is pretty potent...

[...Meanwhile, Hizumi is clear on the other side of the bar and away from Yaiba, cowboy hat perched firmly on his head. He's got a drink in front of him, as well as a plateful of food (mostly consisting of that turkey and pie) and is more or less doing his best to enjoy the atmosphere even though he is currently inhabiting the same room as Yaiba of all people. It's enough to put him on edge...

Not that he's given any indication of it outwardly. He's got about the usual level of cheer and gusto as he digs into that food, although he'll spare a friendly wave at anyone he recognizes.]

[When Ayumu left Yaiba to his drinking, he had made his way over to grab some food. He'd been honest when he said the pie looked good, and he's acquired a decent slice of it on his place alongside the rest of his dinner as he makes his way over to Hizumi.]

[It's a miracle he was able to get that word out what with how stuffed his mouth is. At least he waits until after he's swallowed to continue.]

[He'd noticed Ayumu's chat with Yaiba, of course. It's probably a good thing his "brother" is drinking; it's dulled his senses.]

The pie smells good.

[If tthat counted as fun, sure, this wwas fun. He wasn't much for the drunken party thing. He settles into a seat next to Hizumi, setting his plate down in front of him. Hizumi's thoughts were exactly what Ayumu had been thinking, when he'd noticed him in the bar.]

Your brother is a bit of an oddball. He didn't even notice you were here.

Aaah, that's probably because he's been drinking.

[And also because Hizumi has been going out of his way to avoid him as much as possible.]

Talk about anything interesting?

He's a goofball.

[Pointedly.] But he's smart. Friendly, too.

[He lets the implications of that go unsaid.] Tried to offer me a drink.

[Okay, even Hizumi has to laugh at that.]

I'm guessing you didn't accept it?

Of course not.

[He picks up his fork, examining the meal in front of him.]

It'd be pretty careless of me in this situation, wouldn't it? In a strange world.

Well, that's one way of looking at it...

But on the other hand, you could say it's a chance to experience something new in a completely different world!

[..... He's starting to see a family resemblance here in more than the twin like physical resemblance.]

Why is it so important to you to wait? Sure, the law is there for a reason, but that's mostly to prevent kids from misusing it.

I don't see the appeal.

[A shrug, before he digs into his dinner with his fork, taking a bite and chewing curiously.

....The turkey was good.]

Not even to try out just once?

[Speaking of, Hizumi will go ahead and take swig of his.

...Wow, that's pretty strong.]

Not really. It's not high on my priority list.

[Especially not here and now. He didn't want any unpleasant surprises in a strange world like this. He watches Hizumi drink, though, taking another bite of his dinner.]

[He's still doing fine! It was just a single swig, after all.

That might change as the night goes on, though.]

So it's the kind of thing you could live without, huh.

[Probably a good thing.]

I'd say so.

[It didn't seem that entertaining to him. He takes a few more bites of his dinner before continuing.]

[Just going to continue eating in between pauses in conversation.]

Well... Not cactus juice, no.

[He doesn't miss that implication at all.

He was traveling with his brother how long? Geez, bro.]

Good. [Exactly why Ayumu felt it needed to be said. He didn't want to play chaperone all night.]

I don't want to explain to your brother he has a sibling who hasn't been born yet.

[A sibling who looks exactly like him. Finally finishing his dinner and working on some of that pie.

That was my concern as well. It would probably over complicate things.

Although, I get the feeling he might already have an idea of my existence...
