Child Event and Blackout Log

Where: Around the city and in the apartments
When: November 15-18
Summary: Little kids everywhere!  Also the power grid is on the fritz.
Warnings: Hopefully none!

With the network and the city's electricity once again malfunctioning, the power to most of the city has either been knocked out or is malfunctioning.  And since inconvenient things rarely happen in a vacuum in Hinoto-Ri, a portion of the city has also been affected by some strange new curse, reverting to childlike forms.  Business in and around the city has ground to a standstill due to the power problems, and without functioning heat in the apartments, extra blankets and huddling together for warmth are the order of the day.  It's still possible to go outside as the government hasn't imposed any additional curfews, and the demons during the 13th Hour are as active as ever, but some people may just want to ride this out until everything is back to normal.

((OOC: Feel free to make your own top-level comments either mingling in your apartments or out and about in town.  The child event effects are in full swing, and taking place concurrent with the blackout from November 15th through the 18th.  Please label your posts with your character's name and location.  We apologize for the slight lateness of this log!))

"Desco isn't weird, she's SUPER ADORABLE."

"Not really, you're just weird and freaky."

Narrowed eyes.

"Stupid Uncle Otoha! When you get better Desco expects apology cake!"

[bakegarasu]

"I'm not an uncle. And you're a freak!"

... He pauses, holding the hilt of his sword tightly.

"... Y... you're even worse than I am!"

[tyrantball]

Desco knows Otoha has gone crazy or whatever, since stuff like this has happened before, so she concentrates on the second thing he said. Her voice goes terribly still.

"Who called you that?"

[bakegarasu]

"... W-well I'm a monster, so..."

He shakes his head a little bit. "It's... it's just what I am."

[tyrantball]

Desco just stares for several long moments.

Then she bursts into tears.

[bakegarasu]

Otoha just stares at her.

"What? Why are you crying?"

[tyrantball]

"B-because someone lied to you so much you think it's the truth!"

[bakegarasu]

"But it is the truth! I'm a monster. I'm not human."

[tyrantball]

Desco scowls, her tears drying up.

"Prove it! Show Desco your claws, your fangs, your horns!"

As she names each part, she deliberately indicates the same features on her own body.

[bakegarasu]

"I don't have any of those kinds of things. But..."

He struggles for a moment and partially draws his sword, before pressing his palm against the blade. It cuts deeply, and he stares at her without flinching.

"Only a monster could do something like that and not feel fear or pain." He removes his hand, sheathes his sword, and balls his hand into a fist.

"That is one of the stupidest things Desco has ever heard. And Desco knows Axel."

[bakegarasu]

"Well I'm not human. Humans don't do that."

[tyrantball]

"Yes they do."

[bakegarasu]

"I don't know anyone else who can't feel pain. Father says that makes me a monster."

[tyrantball]

Instead of replying right away, Desco removes a small notebook from...somewhere, and scribbles a note in it before replying.

"Desco has met plenty of humans that don't even notice when you shoot them in the face."

[bakegarasu]

"... Most people scream when I stab them."

[tyrantball]

"Then they were weak."

[bakegarasu]

"Well, yeah. That's why I was sent to kill them."

[tyrantball]

"The strong measure themselves by the strong! If someone's so weak they scream from getting stabbed, then their opinion doesn't matter."

[bakegarasu]

"They don't call me anything. They die too fast. It's Father and the others who call me that."

[tyrantball]

"Then stab them to find out if they matter!"

[bakegarasu]

He shakes his head slightly. "Uh-uh. If I went against them I'd be gotten rid of. They said I'm lucky I'm useful, or else they'd throw me out with the rest of the trash."

"...Desco can't deal with this."

Tentacles extend and snatch up Otoha!

"We are going home, and Desco is going to stuff you full of ice cream, and you will stop BEING STUPID."
