Who: Sam Erstwhile and YOU. The second part is closed to Desco, Johnny Rayflo, and Yosuke Otoha.
Where: Taurus district, then Desco's apartment.
Summary: Sam Erstwhile realizes its his birthday and ponders what being 21 really means. Then, finally making a decision as to where to live.

Twenty one. He was twenty one years old.

Well, in human years. But still, it was his birthday, and there was no getting around it. So what if it was actually only one more year added to the countless number of years he already had under his belt? It was still a special day.

(A special day he didn't honestly want to think much about. God, if only she was here...)

Twenty one is a significant number where he comes from. It meant being able to drink alcohol legally, right? Not that he really cared, but walking through the Taurus District, he couldn't help but stop and stare at the numerous bars, seeing the people chatting and drinking their beers and colorful drinks without abandon.

He murmurs to himself from time to time, stroking his chin as he peers through the window.

"I don't really see the point...what's so fun about getting drunk?"

And a few hours after that, he makes his way over to Desco's place. Fine. Fine, he'll take her up on her offer. He wasn't going to sleep in an apartment with a big gaping hole in it (thanks Desco), and he's definitely going to stop sleeping in the streets. (He would sleep in the river, but that's way too out in the open, plus he'd make people think he was a drowned body or something.) There was only one place left, and it was one he had been avoiding for a while.

So fine. He'll reside with her little group. It shouldn't be that bad, right...?

He lets out a sigh, raising his hand and knocking on the door.

"Desco...it's me."

There's the sound of an almighty clatter before Desco flings the door open, beaming.

"Big Bro! Happy birthday!"

...there is blue goop dripping off her claws and she smells like fish.

Everything smells like fish.

Also there is a super-obvious shark's tail sticking out from behind the couch. It's plainly visible, especially with that shiny purple bow on the end.

Once Sam was in a room and (a tiny bit) more settled, there was a vampire leaning against the doorframe as he observed the (apparent) young man. Another person in the house would make things a little more crowded and potentially noisy, but that was okay, it also meant Desco would be happier and Johnny had someone else to cook for.

Or provide for as the case may be--Sam didn't eat cooked things, did he? He'd have to ask.

"Need any help or are you settled?"

"It's not." He's sitting on a bench people-watching, and he happened to have overheard Sam's musing. He pats the seat beside him, inviting the other boy to sit. "At the Facility, they once replaced the water with alcohol. It... wasn't fun."
