Summary: Nano's making her first shrine visit of the new year

[It's a cold, crisp morning on January 1st in Hinoto-Ri, and after all the chaos of the events of the month previous, Nano's looking forward to spending a relaxing New Year's Day at home. There's just one thing she has to do before that, though - pray at the shrine for good luck and good health during the coming year. And so here she is at the Naganaki Shrine, dressed in a simple white kimono with a branching floral pattern running up the side as she approaches the steps. Fishing a coin out of the small change purse she has hanging from her obi, she throws it into the offertory box and claps her hands together. Anyone close by can probably hear her muttering her prayer our loud.]

I wish all of my friends will be happy and healthy in the new year, especially Hakase, Sakamoto, Naganohara-san, and Minakami-san back home.

[And then she draws a fortune from the box, unrolling it and smiling at the slip of paper in her hand.]

You've got that right. Do you have any resolutions this year, Nano?

I haven't really thought about it yet, but as long as my friends are happy, that's enough for me.

I think that's fair. I'd like to hope for that, too.

I'd like to see my other friends from home too, but I know they'll be all right until I get back.

You could bring somebody and go visit, though, couldn't you?

Yeah. Bring someone not from there and go, and then you can come back, unless you'd like to stay there.

It's more like... I don't know if I could take going back, knowing I'd just have to come back here. Seeing the Professor again...

Yeah, I hear you. There are people not here that I miss, too.

[Riku frowns gently, twisting his ring around his finger.]

I wish things were easier.

I'm sorry... of course you'd have people like that too.

[Even when she's sad, Nano apologizes.]

[He shakes his head, letting his hands fall back to his sides.]

It's okay. I think we all do.

It's lonely sometimes. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have Yukko-san to keep me company at home.

I... keep myself busy, I guess. Not that delivery work is my calling or anything, but it works well with what I can do. And there's always something somebody needs brought somewhere.

Speaking of your friend, is she new here?

No, she's been here for a while. She usually manages to stay out of the dangerous things that happen, though.

Huh... no wonder I haven't seen her, then. Good for her, that she can live a half-normal life.

Yukko-san is very good at going her own way in life.

That's good for her. I guess we could all take that leaf out of her book, huh?

If there's one thing she could teach us, it's definitely that.

Mm.

[He pauses, falling silent, but then looks back over at her.]

Listen, ah... I'm not a Master or anything, but... if you ever want me to teach you how to use that blade of yours, let me know.

[Without other Keybearers from his world, it'll be hard for her to learn much now.]

[Nano nods, frowning.]

Mm... now that Xion-san and Kairi-san are gone too, I don't have a teacher anymore. And I haven't been practicing magic either since Namine-san left.

I don't mind teaching you what I know. Sora would be best, because he's more light-oriented than me, but we'll make do with what I can teach you.

[Riku nods quietly, returning her frown with a small smile.]

We'll figure it out.
