Who: Open!
Where: All over the city.
Summary: A general 13th Hour log.
Warnings: Standard violence.

Every month, it seems like, something weird happens, and more often than not it involves combat. Naturally, it's best to be prepared. Where will you be when the 13th Hour strikes?

[Right now, it's four of these guys. Nano took down a bigger one earlier, and now the smaller shadows are swarming in.]

[Very well. They shouldn't be too much trouble: he has his own Persona launch a Bufu blast at the closest of the Heartless, trusting that a straightforward elemental attack should work as well here as ever.]

[These ones happen to be weak to ice attacks, so it's knocked over and flailing helplessly on the ground. Nano lifts her keyblade and goes running at one of the others, slashing through its body like a hot knife through butter. The other two make their approach, lashing out with claws at both Nano and Even. Nano's Persona seems to have a natural resistance to Darkness, though, and she is left unharmed. With the Grey Barricade she put up around Even before the fight, he should be protected too.]

[Even instinctively flinches in on himself, closing his eyes and raising his shield, as the Heartless attacks - no, no, not again!
The Barricade takes the attack, though, and Daedalus' own strength against Darkness is buying him a little more space to breathe. On realising that his heart is very much still where it belongs, Even follows up on taking out the downed Heartless, smashing into it with his shield.

... It's rather cathartic, honestly.]

[Nano, meanwhile, dispatches one of the remaining two Heartless with her keyblade. The last one, seeing what has happened to its allies, tries to cut and run, but she blasts it with Eyes of God. And that, as they say, is that.]

Whew... are you all right, sir?

[She glances back to Even, walking over as soon as she's determined the area is safe.]

I've been better, but I'm unharmed.

[Honestly, the only damage is to his pride. Having to be effectively saved by a keyblade wielder... He's reluctant to admit even that much, though.]

It doesn't look like there are any more on the way.

[Nano glances down at her keyblade, and then at Even.]

You wanted to ask me about this?

Correct.

[He gives a simple nod.]

How long have you been in possession of it?

...About three months. But I trained with a replica for a long time before I got the real one.

[Interesting.] Under what circumstances did you begin your training? Had you already been made aware that you would bear it in future?

[Nano shakes her head.]

No, I didn't know. Something happened here last year where some of us traded memories with each other for a few days, and I got the memories of a keyblade wielder. Most of them went away, but I still remembered a little bit about how to use one, so another one of my friends who already had a replica keyblade gave it to me so I could train. I had no idea I'd get a real one.

Memories...

[Somewhere, in the back of his mind, something whispers - yes. Memories can make a keyblade wielder. Of course they can.]

I would hardly have expected that to be the case: but I can see the logic in how such things came to be.

That's good, because I really don't understand it at all.

[He wasn't really expecting her to.]

Don't concern yourself too much with the details. Suffice it to say, memories are powerful things indeed, even when disconnected from their source.

It did make me feel much closer to Xion-san.

[He gives the faintest hint of what might be a smile.]

Were you two friends in any way past this - exchange?

We became pretty good friends after it. We didn't know each other that well beforehand.

I see. What did she tell you of her home and origins?

She... didn't like to talk about them very much. I mostly heard about her friends, and how it was her job to fight Heartless.

Did she ever ... name anyone? Any of her friends?

[Long shot, but still...]

There were thirteen others who worked with her. She talked a lot about two of them, Roxas and Axel, and how they went on missions to different worlds together to fight the Heartless.

[And as soon as she says Axel he's not quite listening any more, he looks away almost instinctively. He can almost feel the blade stabbing through his heart.
Could he judge Xion for her choice in friends? Did she even know just what a treacherous snake she'd thrown her lot in with?

And can he judge this strange new keyblade wielder for her choices?

It took him a few long moments, fists clenched, before he manages to speak on. It's a strangled sound as he does.]

...that sounds correct, yes.

U-um... did I say something wrong?

[Nano's looking concerned and a little shamed right now.]

[Even groans, rubs his hand down his face. A moment longer before he goes on-]

You weren't to know. And more fool I for bringing that topic up. But I knew them both - and while Roxas was a boy with potential, Axel was the most [and the floodgates open as he gestures with his free hand] infuriating, disrespectful, treacherous person I have ever had the displeasure to meet! He looked like an upstanding citizen to her, I'm sure, but I'm equally sure that serpent had the girl twisted around his little finger with a smile...

Do me this courtesy. Never mention his name to me again.

[Nano is speechless except for a small frightened nod.]
