[People in the Scorpio district today might notice a young girl decorating the outside wall of the Mark Immortal's theater. She's standing on a step ladder while an odd little creature hands her up various paints, brushes and other supplies. Right now she's using bits of colored glass, taken from various broken bottles found in the trash. The picture seems to be of people lining up to go to the theater. Those who look closer might notice that the people seem to be familiar. They're all various visitors that Akane has met or seen. They might even see themselves. Everyone is depicted as cheerful and friendly. The blue glass is currently being used to decorate someone's dress. And the little girl seems to be having a pretty good time herself.

.....But does she even have permission to do this?]

Ooh, that looks great! What do you think, Shizuo-kun?

Well, originally I live in Japan, but something strange happened, so just before I was brought here, I was in a game world. Or...well, it's more like the game I was playing became a real world, and everyone that was logged into it a the time was brought there.

You lived inside a video game?

[She's heard some strange stories, but that one wins.]

That's.... really weird. I'm from Ikebukurou.

[Which is a pretty weird place itself. But not quite that weird.]

It was an MMORPG called Elder Tale. I don't suppose you've heard of it? It's a pretty popular game, and it's been around for a long time. The latest expansion was supposed to go live, except when it did, that's when whoever was logged in woke up and found themselves in the world of Elder Tale itself.

...it's not just a game, though. Everything's become real, the NPCs, the monsters, you can feel the wind and the rain, smell the grass... It's pretty amazing.

[Blinking, he glances over his shoulder at her.]

Ah, I see! I guess you can say that I've been in Akihabara. The world of Elder Tale is based off of the real world, after all. Just... that the places we'd know would be ruins and overgrowth. It's a fantasy world, after all.

No, but I never played a lot of video games anyway.

That sounds really scary though. I don't know what I'd do in a place like that.

Yeah, I kind of realized that not everyone was as excited as I was, a little belatedly. I thought it was pretty cool, but some of my friends were scared, especially when we had to face monsters. So I said I'd protect them...

I wonder how I'll be able to do that if I'm here, though...

That's really brave of you! I want to get strong enough to protect people too.

[He smiles a little at that.]

I want to get stronger too. Things are different here, I found. Using Personas is something I'm going to have to get used to.

It does take a lot of practice.

[Then she turns to him excitedly.]

Hey, maybe we could practice together sometime!

[It seems an obvious proposition, but Soujirou seems cheered by Akane's enthusiasm.]

Ah, I'd like that! That sounds like a good idea!

Yeah, it'll be fun! It's been a while since I had someone to train with. What kind of persona do you have?

[swordsaintseta]

I guess I can say the same.

Ah...what do you mean by that?

[blessed_by_the_world]

Like what kind of attacks does it have? Can it heal people? That sort of thing.

[swordsaintseta]

Ah! Well...I think its mainly for offensive maneuvers, at least from what I've found so far. It has two big blades for arms!

Wow, that sounds really cool!

Mine is mostly lightning, but it can heal people too.

[swordsaintseta]

Yours sounds very useful! Having a healer is very important.

Well, it has saved my life a few times. It's tough when I fight something immune to lightning though.

I know there's also a way to get other personas from those people in the velvet room, but I haven't gotten one yet.

[He nods thoughtfully.]

That does make sense. I wonder what sort of limitations my Persona might have. I guess it will be better to find out sooner rather than later.

I think Phantom Girl mentioned the Velvet Room, but that's about all I've heard of it.

The best way to find that out is to go out and fight some demons.

You haven't been there? It's really weird but the people there are nice.

Heh, so I've been told! I get a little too eager about fighting them myself, though.

[Soujirou shakes his head at that.]

Not at all. Ah...how is it weird?

Well... it's sort of on a train. Except it's not. And everything is all blue and there's this lady and a weird biker guy and an old man with a long nose....

[swordsaintseta]

On a train?

[But not. Well, that's just baffling.]

That does sound pretty weird. And what do those people do?

I think it's a fake train. Or a magic one.

[Same difference.]

They give you new personas. And you can do them favors in exchange for stuff.

[They hand out the quests.]

Eeeh....

[So if it was a fake train, did it still move? Or...is it something else entirely? One can practically imagine the question marks swirling about the boy's head.]

I didn't think that Personas were things to just be given away... Huuuh. That's really interesting!

Just go and ask for one. They don't seem to mind at all.

That sounds simple enough. I think I should probably get a better handle on my own Persona first before I even consider other ones.
