Summary: The office can come later. For now, he needs to get established.

Nick's never really been a big fan of working out of his apartment. But the money he got for coming here isn't nearly enough to cover the expenses of buying an office and furnishing it, so this will have to do for now. At least he was able to print some flyers to distribute, get an ad out in the papers. Introducing himself by his profession on the comp network hopefully helped; he'll put up an ad if all else fails.

He needed to put out one other ad, too:

Must have enough spiritual or magical ability to help subdue and/or disperse dangerously hostile incorporeal beings, although dispersal is a last resort. Diplomacy and patience also must haves.

The boy named Ideo had said that spirits were a major problem here, in which case he had his work cut out for him. He knows he can't do it alone, either; his words work only with those willing to work both ways. For openly malevolent spirits, he would need someone who can watch his back, who can prevent the spirit from causing damage -- and who could, as much as he hated to admit it, exorcise if necessary.

He's set up his desk in his apartment for now for some level of professionalism, looking through the Comp network and reading books. Will he get a job offer? An interviewee? ...Someone wanting to borrow a cup of sugar?

(He hopes not on the last one. He's only got a little, and that's going straight in his coffee man.)

"That seems..." Deadly. "...a tad unreliable," he comments drily.

She sighs. "I know. In my world, Light and Dark magic, exorcism and death curses, are really finicky. One syllable, one beat off, and the spell is fucked. Same for this fan. On the other hand, it's great when you're the target and it misses..."

He shakes his head. "I'd probably be pretty useless either way. As the old phrase goes, 'I'm a lover, not a fighter.'" He crosses his arms. "Which honestly makes me wonder what the Persona is going to be like whenever I finally see it."

"Maybe your Persona is a dungeon crawler instead of a fighter, like my Pisaca," she helpfully(?) offers.

He scratches his head. "Maybe. Well, if I can be a help to others, I guess I can't complain. I just wish I knew WHY I don't seem to be able to attack much in general." He shrugs. "I guess if I can find ways around it, it's not too important."

Shura shrugs. "Maybe you're just not made for combat. Like I said, I've had demons like that. Doesn't mean they're useless on the battlefield. For example, I always need a healer."

"I guess it's kinda moot until I actually see what I've got." He hems. "But it'd be dangerous to check it out unless I had someone who could help me out of a dangerous situation... hmm."

Shura just... waves.

Eh? ...Ehhhhhh! He flails a bit. "Oh, n-no, no! I couldn't possibly impose..." he stammers a bit. "N-not that I don't appreciate it! I just don't want you getting in danger on my behalf, or... something."

Shura chuckles a little. "I thought a medium would be better than that at sensing how powerful I am." Not that Shura is one to talk about sensing others. She might as well be blind in that department.

"It IS true that tomorrow I have something planned, but we could go another day..."

"A-ah..." He rubs the back of his neck. "Well gee, I mean if it's no imposition, I guess I could use the help," he replies, looking sheepish. "I'll owe you big time for it, though."

She shrugs again and grins, a bit too widely. "Don't worry. I've been wanting to go check what I'm up against. If my Persona doesn't cut it, I have demons at my service, even here."

"Ah ha... uh, great," he replies. Demons. Well... it can't be too bad, right? He's hanging around her after all. "Er, just let me know when you're free, I guess. Sooner the better, mind. Never know when something drastic's gonna happen."

There is no need to worry, all her demons are loyal to her.

"All right. We should go the day after the tournament. We'll try to pick a place that's not too dangerous, just in case..."

Loyalty isn't really the issue here. Not that she knows that.

"You sure? Are you competing in it? That could be kind of rough so soon afterwards," he comments.

She grins. "Hey, I do intend to win."

"Well, uh, obviously. I wouldn't imagine you intending otherwise. I just thought you might be, I dunno, a bit worn out afterwards?" He supposes being a demon leader gives you confidence to spare, or something.

Shura thought about that for a minute. It's true that if by random draw she happened to face someone that could hit one of her Persona's weaknesses...

"Hm. Maybe it'd be wiser to wait at least a day..."

He nods. "Yeah. I wouldn't want you to overwork yourself on my behalf. I can wait a few days." He touches his pendant lightly. "I'm not totally useless without a Persona, after all."

Shura nods firmly. "I'll let you know when I'm ready, then."

He grins a bit. "Thanks. It means a lot to me you're helping out like this. I'll try not to weigh you down too much in the process."
