Jack and the Mysterious Domed City

What: Jack gets his bearings

Jack did not initially move or open his eyes after he awoke. He merely listened. Wind blowing through trees, distant sounds of cars and industry, the sounds of massed humanity. Probably in a park somewhere. Odd, as that was not where he had gone to sleep.

He sat up, looking around in confusion. He was indeed in a park of some kind with the city proper only a stone's throw away. No giant billboards proclaiming Aku the ruler of the city, that was a good sign, but he still didn't feel safe.

No matter, for now his first course of action was figuring out where he was. He wandered through the streets of Hinoto-Ri, trying to get his bearings. This city was indeed strange, but it was not the strangest he had seen by far.

So for now, you all have a white robed figure with a straw hat and a sword wandering around looking very reserved and faintly confused.

He's not a bounty hunter, is he? They get everywhere, like cockroaches. "I'm afraid I do not know who these White Scars are, and I have no love of strangers chasing me across rooftops."

"You ran, and yet showed no fear. I wanted to know why." He shrugs his shoulders.

"It means little, in the end. You've been called to a war of sorts. I'm just curious to see how you shall fight it."

There's always another fight, isn't there?

"Tell me about this war."

[greyerrant]

"When I find out more, I shall tell you. Our hosts have been vague and rather annoyingly closemouthed about the nature of the conflict, other than it involves humanity."

"I see."

[greyerrant]

The warrior removes his helm, and looks down at Jack.

"My Name is Cerberus.

Down is right, the space marine is easily three or four feet taller. He was slightly surprised that there was actually a person in there. There are far too many robots in Jack's life.

"They call me Jack."

[greyerrant]

"Good to know you, Jack."

The warrior looks sincere, as much as his craggy, rough-hewn features can. His eyes seem older than the rest of him, as though a man who looks to be in his 30s has seen centuries of war.

"I suspect you are as out of time and place here as myself, though, if I may venture, in the opposite direction."

It's unusual but sometimes pleasant to meet someone who doesn't know his story already.

"You could say that."

"As near as I can tell, this is my past, or at least, one possible past of Terra."

He looks stern for a moment, then shifts slightly. "That is, assuming you are from Terra. What was the name of the place you hail from?"

"I am from J-...Earth."

He carefully stops himself from saying "Japan", as he's managed to pick up the basics of modern astronomy in his wanderings, at least up to the shape of the solar system.

"I am from Cthonia, but my bloodline runs from Terra, as does that of all humanity."

He looks at Jack again.

"It is a strange thing to look upon those that preceded you, still alive."

"It is stranger still to see those who followed."

[greyerrant]

"I'll try not to disappoint." He might have just had a flash of amusement in his eyes. Maybe.

"Unfortunately, I do not intend to stay here for long. I have things I must do."

[greyerrant]

"From what I understand you can return at any point."

He shrugs his armored shoulders.
