Jack and the Mysterious Domed City

Jack did not initially move or open his eyes after he awoke. He merely listened. Wind blowing through trees, distant sounds of cars and industry, the sounds of massed humanity. Probably in a park somewhere. Odd, as that was not where he had gone to sleep.

He sat up, looking around in confusion. He was indeed in a park of some kind with the city proper only a stone's throw away. No giant billboards proclaiming Aku the ruler of the city, that was a good sign, but he still didn't feel safe.

No matter, for now his first course of action was figuring out where he was. He wandered through the streets of Hinoto-Ri, trying to get his bearings. This city was indeed strange, but it was not the strangest he had seen by far.

So for now, you all have a white robed figure with a straw hat and a sword wandering around looking very reserved and faintly confused.

The man stops at the mew and looks down at the cat. He reaches out and...

Pets the cat, smiling.

The cat doesn't purr, but it also doesn't seem to mind the petting. Sasuke gives a hand signal towards the city at this time, hoping the cat can see past the man to follow his instruction.

And apparently, it could! After a few seconds of petting, the cat will trot in the direction of the city proper, pausing to see if Jack will follow.

He watches the cat leave, but is surprised to see it stop and look. It almost looks like it wants him to follow it.

Lacking any other destination or immediately pressing errands, he decides to do so.

Sasuke begins to shadow the pair, giving the cat directions whenever it pauses to wait for Jack. He aims to send them towards the government buildings.

He follows for some time, but after a few blocks stops suddenly and looks up towards where Sasuke had been hiding a moment ago. It seems he's noticed that he's being followed.

He barely manages to hide in a convenient doorway, probably garnering some weird looks from people who actually wanted to, you know. Go inside. But the cat pauses to circle around Jack's feet, as if trying to make sure his attention is where it ought to be.

It's straight ahead to the town hall. Hopefully if Sasuke can get the man to go in, someone will notice and give Jack the information he needs.

He looked down at the cat weaving between his feet, then up again at the doorway. He can't see Sasuke from here, but he could have sworn someone had been following him.

After a few seconds, he drops his hand from his sword hilt where it had reflexively gone and continues again after the cat, but with his senses even more alert than normal.

At this point, he figures it would be best not to risk getting closer. Trying to not only catch up but also pass himself off as an innocent bystander would just make him seem all the more suspicious.

No, if he was going to remain in the background, he would just have to trust Kurou to get the samurai the rest of the way to the town hall.

His trust is not misplaced. The cat realizes his owner has left it to continue the way on his own, and he is determined to do his job. He quickly runs up to the door of the government building and seats himself to the side, enough out of the way that the door can be easily opened. If Jack follows Kurou all this way, the cat will not move, instead staring almost expectantly.
