Who: Meetra "The Exile" Surik and OPEN to any night owls or demons out there.
Where: Pisces and Gemini Districts
Summary: Meetra meets and greets the demonic populace of the city and maybe finds some trouble checking out the Mictlan.
Warnings: Even on a New Moon, risk of demonic violence.
[Pisces District, 11 pm]

One rumor Meetra had picked up that actually sounded consistent was...well, it was that one about the new book that she'd picked up earlier in the day and stashed in her room for recreational reading later. But more importantly, she'd heard that on the night of the New Moon (a local darkening of most of the reflected light from the local, large, tidally-locked and brightly reflective satellite), the local demons were more docile and conversational than normal. Thus, late at night, she headed out of the apartments to find trouble. Well, hopefully not trouble, but rather demons to chat with. They couldn't be any more hostile than, say, anyone else she'd met in the last few months, and she was interested in the perspective of the local aliens.

She'd heard one more thing, though, which is why her course wandered in a particular direction...

[Gemini District, 13th Hour]

"That's certainly something," said the slightly awestruck Exile on seeing the huge convoluted bloody pile that had replaced the mountain that presided over the city up close. And she had thought Malachor V looked awful...this was as if someone had thrown it, Korriban, and Nar Shadaa in a mixer...without removing the people from the latter. After a moment to appraise it, she heads toward the border of 'Mictlan', lightsaber in hand but unlit. Maybe the demons there would be chatty tonight, too...or maybe she'd just be doing some recon in force around the edges. Either way, she was prepared.

"That's right. These are extremely low-level demons - not enough to waste attacks from my own demons on them. Still, it's better to try a punching bag before I go after something that might actually have a risk of harming me."

He wasn't afraid of death, after all... but it would be unpleasant.

"My name is Naoya, by the way."

"Do you have any idea what this place is?" she asked, gesturing to the Mictlan for the sake of specifics. After all, Hinoto-Ri in general was just as much of a mystery, even if it fit into the mold of a city, roughly.

"A demonic city or stronghold of some sort. Past that, I don't know." He'd find out eventually... perhaps he could interrogate some demons for information.

She looked over it more carefully. "I barely see anything moving in there. Is it because it's the New Moon?"

He considered it for a moment. "Probably. Demons tend to react to the moon's phases strongly. On a full moon they're more active, and on a new moon they're calmer - though still very dangerous."

"Did you study them before you came here?" she asked. After all, if he had 'his own', it stood to reason they'd come with him, as her lightsaber and tools had.

"I did. They were something of a specialty of mine - as well as merging the magical rituals needed to summon them with technology." It wasn't as if this were knowledge she would be unable to get should she talk to the right people, so he had no problems revealing it.

"But here, they're all over the place, and you don't need to 'summon' them," Meetra said. "Any idea why, or where they came from? According to the locals, they weren't always here."

"The likely reason, aside from possibly a massive amount of summoners being killed by what they summoned, is some kind of rift in the... wall, for a better term, that divides the human and the demon realms. In my world, the guardians that kept the wall up and active were defeated, and so the demon world drew very near to the human world. If given enough time, it's likely that it would have gotten close enough for demons to pass through on their own. Alternatively, someone built a pathway of sorts."

It's something to look into... he'll have to find someone else who knows about demon summoning. Yamato knew some, apparently, but not enough.

"Hm...when you talk about a demon world, do you mean an entirely different world, like the ones we were drawn from, or do you mean a kind of shadow of the one we're in right now?" she asked, still trying to figure out if there was any connection between the demons and the 'Guests'. Her earlier conversation with Nebiros seemed to have disproved that, but...

"More like a shadow world. I suppose you could think of the two worlds coming as a set, though to be honest I haven't really had much chance to learn about other worlds until now." He pulled out his COMP and flicked it open, looking at his demons' stats. ... Definitely too overpowered for this area. He'd have to wait until he got further in.
