[Game Opening, Part 4 : Mission 2 - Fire the Arrow of War]
Who: Jun Kuga, Theodore, Yamato, Ludwig, Elizabeth Middleford, Atsuro, Aoba, Urataros, Volstagg
Where: The Saggitarius Research and Development lab, wards C4 & B4.
Summary: Help defend the prototypes and barricade the labs.
Music: Castle of the Four Gods
Warnings: Combat! Action! Science!

The build itself seemed unimpressively gray, four stories tall, lacking in windows, and yet oddly cylindrical. There seemed to be some sort of commotion on the roof, but there wasn't much time to examine the exterior. Once the group had stepped close to the front door, they were almost immediately ushered up the emergency staircase, to the fourth floor. The lights within the R&D department were almost blindingly clinical, with many of them being backed up by black lights. The combination made the area a little jarring to stand around in, but it seemed the COMP glasses came in handy for that, cutting some of the dizzying effects.
The fourth-floor door was opened wide by an odd looking pixie, who seemed to regard the group coldly before gesturing them in. Behind her was a black-haired teen, no older than seventeen at most, frantically standing at a console and typing away. The room was completely white, littered with odd gadgets and glass enclosures straddling other computer terminals. The room seemed to be bustling with energy, even with the presumed lack of people in it. The pixie floated over to the teen, tapping him once on the shoulder to get his attention, before he spun around fast and harsh.
"Oh! Good, just barely in time, thank you..."
He dragged a gloved hand over his tired face, and gave a half-sort of bow. "My name is Ideo Hazama. I'm one of the head researchers..."

The screen behind him beeped, and he immediately turned back to it with a muttered curse. Seems he was going to be explaining the situation with his back turned, then! "The Anoli began their attack from the roof, breaking in to ward C4 first- we didn't expect them to be so daring. Several of our most potent prototypes are housed in B4, as well as here in D4." The labcoated teen gestured to the screen, and a map of the floor came up; it seemed to be in real time, showing blips for enemies and damaged doorwars. "Our first priority is to keep this area secure, while taking back B4. Once that is under control, we can push them out of C4, then pursue them to the roof if needed." As he spoke, Ideo gestured across the map without looking at his audience directly. He was probably not a people person anyway. "We cannot allow them to leave with the prototypes we have here...lives depend on this."
Finally, he turned back around, pointing to the doors labeled A4. C4, for the time being, seemed to be guarded by several imposing demons. Odd. "Reiko is in A4 right now, with the frontal assault force. The rest of our team is guarding the other emergency stairwells that lead downstairs. When you have cleared B4, my forces here will go through to C4 and meet you for a pincer attack. I would like to request that some of you stay here, in case we have trouble- everyone else, make your way to A4."

[OOC: As with every log like this, you are free to start your own sub-thread and have your characters stop swarms of monsters on your own. The place is being invaded by demons as well as Anoli! Don't forget to write your character's Persona awakening as well! Finally, here is a map, for easier comprehension!]

"What I can say on shadows is only conjecture, it's not my department. However, demons are fragments of the gods of old, in a sense, that feed from humans in some way. It's not quite so simple as that, but..."
With a shooing motion, Ideo nudged Urataros away from the console and clacked away, bringing up a picture of Thor. Explaining things would at least take his mind off the growing ulcers in his stomach.
"Thor, god of thunder in Norse mythology. There are many 'Thors' here that are classed as demons, because they feed from human emotions. Meanwhile..." He turned back around, to face him. "Thor is also capable of being a persona- because a persona comes from the collective will of humanity. Different regions, interpretations, and beliefs can cause a Thor persona to be different from person to person. It all depends on the user."
And then Ideo narrowed his eyes, scoffing. "And that is why the Anoli are attacking- they see those without the affinity for persona to be 'weak' and want to wipe them out. Such genocide, they believe, will bring about a new evolutionary era of mankind. Frankly, I think they're just power-hungry."

Urataros was just going to keep invading that personal space bubble, Ideo.
DEAL WITH ITThis time he looked over the young man's shoulder at the screen."If demons are pieces of gods, why feed on humans? How unsavory." Of course, it could be said that Urataros fed on humans... but that would only be a figure of speech. He didn't actually gain anything from the attentions of the women he flirted with (well, except for whatever presents they gave him).
These Anoli sounded like a bad bunch, though, and if they were out to cull humanity, then it was obvious that Urataros had to throw a wrench in their plans. "Some people are just like that. They're convinced they're the only people that need to exist." He examined his nails, frowning a little. "Of course, they don't understand what its like to wander into eternity, forever alone..."

He'd already heard that story, and respected Takeba-san's word way too much to even consider it an option OH GOD WHY ARE YOU OVER HIS SHOULDER. Ideo couldn't be more tense and stiff if he tried.
Stop reeling in the wrong fish, Ura."They require human energy to survive...it's their sole energy source." That was easy enough to explain. Anoli discussions were not as simple. "...exactly. They can't see the real future their childish dreams of power are bringing about, and won't know how much pain they are causing until they're all that's left."
Ideo splayed his hands across the keys, before closing the Thor picture and once again reclaiming his personal bubble space. "We don't intend to let them get that far."

Hmm. Maybe this Persona thing was kind of like how some people were Singularity Points, and some weren't. In that case, Urataros would have to take especial care to protect the people who couldn't defend themselves. Or at least that's what Ryoutarou would say
not that he cared or anything.Urataros clapped as Ideo finished his speech. "Well said. I guess I can lend you a hand, as long as we're protecting the future and all." After all, it was hardly different from what Urataros usually did. "By the way, do you have any say over who gets netted for this little operation and who doesn't? I have a few companions who'd be game for this kind of thing."
Actually, he probably wouldn't be able to keep Momotaros away once he heard that there were fights to be had and bad guy skulls to bash in.

"I sure wish we could. Who Philemon calls is completely random to us. Heck, we didn't get much notice this time, even." At least in Ideo's opinion. "Maybe we'll be able to in the future, but for right now it's out of our abilities."
no subject
"Philemon? Is that the gentleman with the interesting choice of masks?" Hmm. If Urataros couldn't get back, then... then...
SCREAMWait, no, they'd probably find some way to get the DenLiner here. Besides, Momotaros had been stuck in medieval Japan for who knew how long and he'd managed to make out all right (except for the part where he was stabbed in the butt). So Urataros would just have to deal."Hmph. Ordinarily, I'd say there are a hundred hooks hidden in a word... but this Philemon's words have a thousand each." He sighed. "So you usually get advance warning, do you? Pretty convenient."
no subject
A pause, and he once again rubbed his face. "I hope Takeba-san is safe."
no subject
"But if these Anoli guys knew we were coming, too, doesn't that mean you have a leak?"
no subject
"I shouldn't discuss this, but I've never been one for utter rigidity of information towards anyone who is doing their best to help. But, I've had my suspicions that we had a mole in the system for some weeks now. Thus far, nothing proving it has come to light."
no subject
Urataros motioned idly with one hand. "Well, best to trust in the people you have than to foster unwarranted suspicion. That'd really hurt teamwork."
