[Game Opening, Part 4 : Mission 2 - Fire the Arrow of War]

Who: Jun Kuga, Theodore, Yamato, Ludwig, Elizabeth Middleford, Atsuro, Aoba, Urataros, Volstagg
Where: The Saggitarius Research and Development lab, wards C4 & B4.
Summary: Help defend the prototypes and barricade the labs.
Music: Castle of the Four Gods
Warnings: Combat! Action! Science!

The build itself seemed unimpressively gray, four stories tall, lacking in windows, and yet oddly cylindrical. There seemed to be some sort of commotion on the roof, but there wasn't much time to examine the exterior. Once the group had stepped close to the front door, they were almost immediately ushered up the emergency staircase, to the fourth floor. The lights within the R&D department were almost blindingly clinical, with many of them being backed up by black lights. The combination made the area a little jarring to stand around in, but it seemed the COMP glasses came in handy for that, cutting some of the dizzying effects.

The fourth-floor door was opened wide by an odd looking pixie, who seemed to regard the group coldly before gesturing them in. Behind her was a black-haired teen, no older than seventeen at most, frantically standing at a console and typing away. The room was completely white, littered with odd gadgets and glass enclosures straddling other computer terminals. The room seemed to be bustling with energy, even with the presumed lack of people in it. The pixie floated over to the teen, tapping him once on the shoulder to get his attention, before he spun around fast and harsh.

"Oh! Good, just barely in time, thank you..."

He dragged a gloved hand over his tired face, and gave a half-sort of bow. "My name is Ideo Hazama. I'm one of the head researchers..."

The screen behind him beeped, and he immediately turned back to it with a muttered curse. Seems he was going to be explaining the situation with his back turned, then! "The Anoli began their attack from the roof, breaking in to ward C4 first- we didn't expect them to be so daring. Several of our most potent prototypes are housed in B4, as well as here in D4." The labcoated teen gestured to the screen, and a map of the floor came up; it seemed to be in real time, showing blips for enemies and damaged doorwars. "Our first priority is to keep this area secure, while taking back B4. Once that is under control, we can push them out of C4, then pursue them to the roof if needed." As he spoke, Ideo gestured across the map without looking at his audience directly. He was probably not a people person anyway. "We cannot allow them to leave with the prototypes we have here...lives depend on this."

Finally, he turned back around, pointing to the doors labeled A4. C4, for the time being, seemed to be guarded by several imposing demons. Odd. "Reiko is in A4 right now, with the frontal assault force. The rest of our team is guarding the other emergency stairwells that lead downstairs. When you have cleared B4, my forces here will go through to C4 and meet you for a pincer attack. I would like to request that some of you stay here, in case we have trouble- everyone else, make your way to A4."

[OOC: As with every log like this, you are free to start your own sub-thread and have your characters stop swarms of monsters on your own. The place is being invaded by demons as well as Anoli! Don't forget to write your character's Persona awakening as well! Finally, here is a map, for easier comprehension!]

"The prototypes?" Wow, she sure got deadpan fast. "We have several, but the chief concern we have are our DDS-COMPs." Ceu glanced over to Ideo with a shake of her head. "Or, at the very least, that is what Sir is most concerned about. A touching gesture, at least."

She only saw fit to elaborate after a moment's hesitation. "DDS stands for 'direct demon summoning'. In other words, it would allow those among the human population who lack personas to instead ally with demons for defense and protection. It probably won't be slated for production to persona users unless we have a sudden influx of demand." Ceu's voice turned suddenly ice cold, and her ears drooped. "Given many of them would rather fight their enemies than propose an alliance, I am not foreseeing much chance of that happening."

"I see," Yamato sounded slightly fascinated. "So it is similar to the Demon Summoning App, is it? Making contracts with demons?"

However, from Ceu's words, it meant they would make alliances with demons face to face, and not through the reliable proxy of the Demon Auction. Yamato was a bit intrigued by that. Demons that roamed the earth freely hardly had any interest in allying with humans, only devouring them, and the demons that were sealed only agreed to assist you just the once.

To be able to ally with demons you simply meet would be useful...

Ah, what was Yamato thinking? None of that concerned him anymore. Still, intellectual curiosity...

Ceu nodded, pressing her little fingers underneath her chin thoughtfully. "Sir is very particular about how the app needs to work. He's studied summoning rituals for years, so I suppose he can afford to be. But, he insists that it not be dangerous for both humans, and demons."

She shook her head, shrugging. "A tall order, but Sir is nothing if not ambitious when it comes to demon rights. I only wish he were so enthusiastic with his times as emperor." She's never going to stop harping on that- but luckily, this time Ideo was within earshot.

"Ceu!" It was only a distracted call, but it did it's purpose. For all her formality and professionalism, Ceu stuck her tongue out at the back of Ideo's head.

Hm, now this was interesting.

"He was an emperor? Impressive. However, it is unusual for one to be concerned with the rights of demons," Yamato pointed out lightly. Personally, he had nothing against demons. He grew up being raised by one (well, at the time he had thought Alcor had been a demon, but the fact remained), and had learned to summon them from a young age. Demons had forever been a part of Yamato's life, and truthfully? He trusted them more than humans.

Demons were nothing but loyal when contracted. Humans were more fickle.

Ceu motioned Yamato a bit further away from Ideo's general workspace, this time keeping an eye on her boss to make sure he didn't overhear her again.

"He managed to do a reverse-summoning on his first attempt- an entire human building brought in tact in to the demon realm. Yet he treats his past as if he were a tyrant. I fail to see his reasoning behind his lack of pride. To lead demons like that is an honor, not something to be ashamed of." She threw a hand up, as if dismissing Ideo's entire trauma surrounding his classmates being killed. "But what do I know? I'm just a pixie. Human emotions still don't make much sense to me."

"Human emotions don't make much sense to humans either," Yamato stated. Well, they didn't make sense to him, in any case, but his upbringing was, shall we say, very cold in comparison to most people. Learning social cues from demons and emotionally stunted people made human emotions seem totally alien to him at times.

"However that is very impressive. Even I struggle to accomplish a feat like that. Was he formally tutored in summoning?"

Ceu looked like she was uncertain on how to proceed with the conversation, before clucking her tongue. "If you count social neglect and abuse as formal study, then yes. Otherwise, he learned it through his own will."

Seriously you understand right, Hotsuin guy, that's cool right???????

"But, what of you? I suppose that energy brimming from you is due to your own interactions with demonkind?"

Well negative emotions do allow for stronger connections to demons, and ease of access in summoning them, so Yamato treated that comment by simply letting out a small, understanding 'hrm'.

"Of course," Yamato said simply. "I have interacted with demons since childhood."
