[Game Opening, Part 4 : Mission 2 - Fire the Arrow of War]
Who: Jun Kuga, Theodore, Yamato, Ludwig, Elizabeth Middleford, Atsuro, Aoba, Urataros, Volstagg
Where: The Saggitarius Research and Development lab, wards C4 & B4.
Summary: Help defend the prototypes and barricade the labs.
Music: Castle of the Four Gods
Warnings: Combat! Action! Science!

The build itself seemed unimpressively gray, four stories tall, lacking in windows, and yet oddly cylindrical. There seemed to be some sort of commotion on the roof, but there wasn't much time to examine the exterior. Once the group had stepped close to the front door, they were almost immediately ushered up the emergency staircase, to the fourth floor. The lights within the R&D department were almost blindingly clinical, with many of them being backed up by black lights. The combination made the area a little jarring to stand around in, but it seemed the COMP glasses came in handy for that, cutting some of the dizzying effects.
The fourth-floor door was opened wide by an odd looking pixie, who seemed to regard the group coldly before gesturing them in. Behind her was a black-haired teen, no older than seventeen at most, frantically standing at a console and typing away. The room was completely white, littered with odd gadgets and glass enclosures straddling other computer terminals. The room seemed to be bustling with energy, even with the presumed lack of people in it. The pixie floated over to the teen, tapping him once on the shoulder to get his attention, before he spun around fast and harsh.
"Oh! Good, just barely in time, thank you..."
He dragged a gloved hand over his tired face, and gave a half-sort of bow. "My name is Ideo Hazama. I'm one of the head researchers..."

The screen behind him beeped, and he immediately turned back to it with a muttered curse. Seems he was going to be explaining the situation with his back turned, then! "The Anoli began their attack from the roof, breaking in to ward C4 first- we didn't expect them to be so daring. Several of our most potent prototypes are housed in B4, as well as here in D4." The labcoated teen gestured to the screen, and a map of the floor came up; it seemed to be in real time, showing blips for enemies and damaged doorwars. "Our first priority is to keep this area secure, while taking back B4. Once that is under control, we can push them out of C4, then pursue them to the roof if needed." As he spoke, Ideo gestured across the map without looking at his audience directly. He was probably not a people person anyway. "We cannot allow them to leave with the prototypes we have here...lives depend on this."
Finally, he turned back around, pointing to the doors labeled A4. C4, for the time being, seemed to be guarded by several imposing demons. Odd. "Reiko is in A4 right now, with the frontal assault force. The rest of our team is guarding the other emergency stairwells that lead downstairs. When you have cleared B4, my forces here will go through to C4 and meet you for a pincer attack. I would like to request that some of you stay here, in case we have trouble- everyone else, make your way to A4."

[OOC: As with every log like this, you are free to start your own sub-thread and have your characters stop swarms of monsters on your own. The place is being invaded by demons as well as Anoli! Don't forget to write your character's Persona awakening as well! Finally, here is a map, for easier comprehension!]

Re: WARD D4
glorified?bodyguard back home meant it was probably best for Jun to stand back and wait with this Ideo guy. She slumped against the wall nearby and balanced her katana's hilt on her palm; trying to keep it standing tall almost like a plate spinner. After about three seconds the sword falls to the floor and she picks it up quickly - this time neglecting to pull off any more fancy tricks.
She took a look around at the others who stayed behind and sighed. It was pretty tense in this place...
"Hey, don't tell me I'm the only one who feels a bit awkward sending people to a ward named C4."
It wasn't so much a conversation starter so much as an attempt to lift the almost heavy and frantic mood of the mission. She was doing her best to use her own talents, cut her some slack.
no subject
Ideo didn't even miss a beat typing to deliver that line.
"I wanted to have the explosives 'B4' 'C4', but...I didn't think anyone would appreciate the wordplay."
......ideo wordplay doesn't work so well when you say it out loud
no subject
...Maybe it's a bit more forced politeness than appreciation of the word play, but she still finds it a little funny!
She walks a bit closer to him and looks at the screen before tilting her head in confusion. Whatever is on that screen means nothing to her, that's for sure.
"Uh... so what're you doing, again?"
no subject
Another hand ran through his hair, which was starting to frizz from his presumed stress. "But they're halfway through drilling a hole in the vault. I won't get it online in time."
no subject
"Well... If there's anything I can do then let me know, 'kay? I'm not so great with computers, though." She wondered briefly about the vault and cast a glance over to the door as she did so.
"Is anyone heading to the vault to stop them, or whatever?"
no subject
JUST IGNORE THAT EARLY SLIP-UP.
no subject
"Oh well I guess they can handle it, right? Probably?" She might have felt a little guilty if people without combat experience or training had headed off and she had stayed behind but it was a good idea to have someone with bodyguard experience actually being, you know, a bodyguard, right?
She took another glance at the screen as if she would somehow manage to understand it after the earlier explanation. She couldn't. It wasn't even clear if Ideo was making any progress at all, so she gave up looking and paced around a little.
"So do you have a persona, Ideo?" She spoke with a tone of genuine curiosity; it was good practice to know what somebody you were protecting was capable of.
no subject
As she paced and fussed, he clicked and clacked, only stopping his work completely at the persona question. His hands stilled before the rest of his body caught up, and he gradually turned around, looking guilty.
"...y-yes. I do." His hands went to hug his elbows, pursing his lips. "But I'd rather not utilize it if I had the chance."
no subject
"Touchy subject?"
no subject
Eighteen, 5'6", who knows but she's single and likes girls I mean"...my persona is part of my past I'd like to forget." He didn't sound, as bad this time around, but he was still kinda anxious. "I know it's a part of me, but it's not a very nice part."
no subject
"Then if we get into trouble I'll do my best to make sure you don't have to use it, alright?"
She didn't know why she had said that right away, but it was probably due to spending most of her life with someone she had to from pushing their abilities too much. Maybe Ideo felt like that, so out of habit she had offered without thinking about it.
no subject
Regardless, he had calmed down, enough to settle back in to his typing pattern, only stopping when yet another fairy in a labcoat floated right up to him.
"Mister Sir! The barrier is weakening...we're running low on magnetite."
Well, that sure made Ideo make some sort of half-sigh-half-choke noise. The teen simply whirled around, looking at the fairy, then at Jun.
"Do you have any familiarity with demonkind?"
woops wrong icon my bad.
"None whatsoever, I didn't even understand what was just said..."
She feels slightly embarrassed but not enough to bring it up.
"Something I can help with?"
Re: WARD D4
He was actually pretty relaxed. Maybe a little too relaxed, considering they were under attack by people he'd never even heard about before today. "Is you sword all right?"
no subject
Wait what? No that's cheating don't mention the sword that she just dropped or you'll embarrass her; and that's usually a hard thing to do, man.
"Uh... it's fine and dandy. A little fall like that wont hurt this guy."
There are another two - this time wooden - swords attached to her belt; one on either side. She isn't wielding them right now or anything, but that still brings her up to a total of three. She nods down to the swords. "I'd be more concerned if I dropped these two, since I brought 'em from home."
no subject
He sighed, checked his watch, listened to the distant sounds of fighting. Not that he wanted to sound ungrateful or anything, but this wasn't how he'd been planning on spending his day.
"Kendo? Iaijutsu?" He was just going to leeeean up against this bulkhead, which fortunately wasn't too badly damaged. Might as well, since there weren't that many chairs to go around.
no subject
"Uh, a family style actually. I can't say I'm a stranger to most conventional styles, though." She wasn't one to brag so she left it at that - actually she preferred to downplay herself to an almost pitiful degree. "Do you practice at all?"
no subject
Urataros accompanied this with a hand motion simulating someone drawing a rod back. "I cast out my line, wait, and hope for the best."
no subject
"What do you fish for? Compliments or food?"
Get it? Fishing for com-- oh nevermind. She smiles and looks over in Ideo's general direction.
"Do you have any idea what he's doing overthere?"
no subject
Urataros followed the line of her gaze over to where Ideo was frantically pressing buttons. "He seems to have his hands full monitoring the situation. But he was kind enough to give me some information on the gentlemen currently attempting to occupy the facility."
He sighed. "Just your run-of-the-mill destroy everything types. They won't win, of course."
no subject
That would be pretty funny, wouldn't it? Jun seems to think so, anyway, given that she' laughing to herself.
"What makes you so sure they wont win, though?"
no subject
Of course not. After all, the good guys always won.
"I'm a little worried about Ideo-kun, though. It seems like he's got enough stress on his plate. Maybe he should ask for some time off?"
no subject
"Isn't he the big cheese? Maybe he can't afford to take time off, or maybe he's a workaholic who doesn't wanna. Like he's married to his work, or something like that."
no subject
