Who: The Strings KH Contingent
Where: Pisces Apartments, floor five common area
Summary: Roxas (and Terra) brought home a stray, is he responsible enough to feed and care for an amnesiac destined to bring the worlds to ruin?
Warnings: Spoilers maybe, but that's it
It was hard to stay unconscious when being jostled around, but all he really got from it were flashes of movement, scenes that didn't stay fixed in his mind long enough to really register where they were from. The sensation of being carried was strange, and he gripped on slightly at the odd feeling.
Where... where...
A big building loomed up out of nowhere. More movements, bumping. The feeling of upward motion... pressing down on him. Closed his eyes... voluntarily, at least. It was hard to keep them open.
Faces. Other people. Voices. Probably talking about him. Something soft, and he finally was still. Soft all around. He curled up slightly, attempting to burrow away in it, letting his mind ease.
Safety. Unconsciousness was all too quick. His body relaxed into the grip of slumber.

Not that this place wasn't any better as far as it's place on the weird meter was concerned; it was a different kind of weirdness, but with the demons, the 13th hour, and Personas being the tip of the iceberg (the blue tomatoes were still pretty high up there).
His eyes widen slightly from shock as he is not only disagreed with, but almost outright lectured about his wanting to keep the city out of a problem that started in their world. He starts to feel himself getting defensive, even hurt, when they don't agree with him. He was only trying to be responsible; he didn't want to start any kind of panic over nothing, or make people that didn't know anything about their worlds predisposed to be suspicious of someone that all the evidence was pointing at being (for the moment) innocent of any crime.
He almost sends a thought with the intent of trying to talk some sense into all of them when his thoughts are derailed by an all too familiar-sounding voice. 'Hold on, Terra. Something is amiss.'
Well. This was new; was his own imagination going to lecture him, too? And why did it sound like Master? If only for that reason, he decided to listen. 'No kidding.'
'I believe your words, and thus, your intentions, were misunderstood.' There's a faint feeling of amusement that Terra is pretty sure isn't from him, but the feeling is faint enough that he writes it off as another part of this imagined lecture. Or possibly from Titan. But the words cut through his temper and get him to the point where he is actually listening instead of pretending to listen.
A misunderstanding? That... seems a lot more likely. He should probably make what he'd meant more clear. "... guys? What did you think when I said 'these people'? I was talking about the people in the city."
There's an odd note of satisfaction and something akin to pride that disappears as quickly as it appeared, leaving Terra feeling... slightly confused, but otherwise calmer than he had been a few seconds ago. And thinking clearly again.
There was one other thing he agreed with, though. "... she's right. What happened to us could've been prevented if we'd just told each other what we knew. If we know how he fell after the seal was placed on him, we might be able to prevent it here."

"This one is just as weird. ...If not more so."
Probably more so, really.
He glances between Aqua and Terra, frowning confused at Terra's random seeming 'No kidding'-comment, then apologetic about jumping to conclusion.
He presses his lips together, then nods. The best way to prevent anything from happening is to have an idea of what happened back home. Still, he has to warn them...
"I doubt I know everything-" Very likely, far from. "-but I'll tell you what I do know for sure."
Taking a deep breath, he gathers his thoughts, all that he's found out since Promenade... all that DiZ or Mickey had hinted at, that he had read in the reports Sora had gathered during his journey.
"Sometimes over eleven years ago an amnesiac man named Xehanort arrived in Radiant Garden and became apprentice to Di- Ansem, the Wise.
He and the other apprentices started to experiment with the Darkness and its effects on the Heart... eventually causing the Heartless to invade the Realm of Light... and all of them to lose their Hearts, leaving behind their shells... Nobodies.
Over the following ten years Xehanort's Heartless manipulated Maleficent to capture all Princesses of Heart and his Nobody gathered others like him and created the Organization XIII. Sora managed to put a stop to both their plans, but recently, we found out their true purpose."
He halts for a second, hands clenching into fists.
"It was to collect and shape the pieces needed to create the key to the true Kingdom Hearts."
The χ-blade.

Aqua sighed audibly, looking toward Terra as she listened and relayed. Right; keep calm, or the anxiety will spread. It was almost nice having a second voice help out with that.
"Let's withhold judgement on how strange everything is until we know everything we can."
Which meant, of course, listening to Riku's side and what he knew. What he said, however, did not paint the prettiest of pictures.
"...χ-blade."
Aqua's blood ran cold. It had been a myth; a legend that their Master would never speak of for it had been taboo, only that they knew it was tied to the Keyblade War that Xehanort had tried to start anew the last time they had been together under the same stars. She remembered what the damned blade looked like in its unstable form, too. Beautiful, but one of the most terrifying things her eyes had ever beheld... held by none other than-
No. Now was the time to retell, not relive.
"...It wasn't the first time he tried to collect what was 'needed' for that. When Terra, Ven, and myself first started out, Xehanort was a formerly estranged Keyblade Master; our Master's brother-pupil, just as Terra and Ven are mine. He was there when I showed my Mark of Mastery. Little did we know he and his apprentice were manipulating all of us from the beginning.
Yet he was manipulating not just us, but those on other worlds... Maleficent was one of them. Even then she was talking about the Seven, trying to get me to join her as well. But Xehanort's plans were more extensive then that; he was trying to separate us and break the connections binding us together.
It didn't work completely. Ven was the first one to be possessed, used to try and make that cursed key. It shattered when our bonds managed to crack it, but by then... none of us could find Terra."
...It was easy to guess what happened after that. She had already shown Riku that she had created Castle Oblivion. Though with what she just remembered what Vanitas told her in Radiant Garden--
Why did an unnatural chill just go down her spine again?

As Aqua relayed what she knew, he felt... numb. But beyond the numbness, there was something else bubbling up. Anger, disbelief, heartbreak, disappointment. All hit him so strongly that it was hard to keep himself from reacting to them.
But they weren't his. He knew his own heart well enough to know that. Unlike the first surge of 'not him' emotions, this one wasn't fading. Wouldn't fade. It was hard staying distanced from them, since his own horror and anger was mixing with them.
He dips his head, tearing his gaze away from Riku and Aqua, as he tries to get his emotions out of control. Until then, he doesn't trust himself to 'speak'.
It takes a few minutes, separating his emotions from whatever is causing the tangled knot of something else inside him. As it starts to finally fade, he tries something he hasn't done since Promenade--that hasn't needed to do since then; separate himself from his emotions. Find the eye of calm at the center.
He makes a mental note to practice doing this more often.
He takes a steadying breath as his thoughts start to clear again. Okay. This is... better. Detached is better than losing his temper, or getting swept away by grief or guilt. Staying this way for a little while might help with retelling what little he knows. "I didn't find out about the χ-blade until much later. Xehanort had... essentially sent me on a wild goose chase after his apprentice, who he'd created by ripping the Darkness out of Ven's heart."
Funny, how he hadn't encountered the masked boy until that fight in the Keyblade Graveyard.
"Compared to Aqua or Ven, I don't know as much about it as I probably should. I know that Ven was connected to forging it, and I could only guess that Vanitas was also involved. But I do know one thing.
"That damned thing won't just open the path to Kingdom Hearts. Should Kingdom Hearts ever reappear, another Keyblade War will be triggered. Xehanort wanted that--it's the reason he possessed me in the first place; to 'live to see what lies beyond the Keyblade War'. The last one ripped the universe apart--I don't think I need to tell anyone here how much the worlds don't need something like that happening again."
... pieces. Riku had mentioned pieces. It was part of what had sparked that foreign anger to begin with. What could that mean?
no subject
The counterpart to the true Kingdom Hearts.
His lips press into a fit line as he processes all this information... he's heard some of what had happened in their time from Terra and more from Aqua when they had been in Promenade, but... with what he knows now... some things are definitely starting to make far more sense.
"...I'm not sure why, but neither Master Yen Sid nor Mickey told me or Sora much about what happened to you. At least not directly." That outburst of Mickey's when they had faced Master Xehanort... his three missing friends... the hearts connected to Sora's he had mentioned in his letter... "Though... what I remember from Promenade... and what you told me now... it puts some things into perspective."
More than. And considering that conversation in that round room...
For a moment he wonders if he should say anything at all... that their fight had accomplished little... that that particular attempt to create the χ-blade had been doomed to fail one way or another.
But on the other hand, is it fair to keep that truth from them, as bitter as it may be?
Seems like Lea isn't the only one that gets stuck with the icky jobs.It takes a minute until he picks up where he left off; there is nothing to be gained by sugarcoating things, nor does he think that either of the others would appreciate it.
"What Master Yen Sid did tell us is the original story behind the Keyblade War. He told us that when the worlds were remade and the true Kingdom Hearts disappeared in the Darkness... the χ-blade fell apart into twenty pieces. Seven of Light... and thirteen of Darkness.
When we confronted Xehanort, he called having these pieces clash 'the correct way'."

All because he wanted to reignite that horrid war that discussion of it was nearly considered taboo. Pardon her for seeing red if only for that, but to hear what was a half-truth coming from Riku...
"...Never?" Disbelief colored even her mental tone, and maybe some hurt. Had they really forgotten them in their reality? Had Mickey forgotten how they were forced to fight a Vanitas-possessed Ventus together, and how he'd dragged the unconscious pair of them back to Master Yen Sid's tower? Or... was it too painful to him...
"So everything we'd done... what we strove so hard and long for..."
It was for nothing? She shook her head. No, it couldn't be. There had to be a reason for what they did. It made no sense. Yet it did, and that's what both scared and angered her. Made her begin to realize just how blind she had been.
"He's trying to reignite it still, huh." Aqua sighed bitterly, placing a hand over her heart. "...What Vanitas said to me when we first fought makes so much more sense, now."
...Just how far have they run from and hidden the truth when she was forced to fight in the dark for so long?

Xehanort's words to him, when they had faced each other behind the seal, made so much more sense now.
Internally, he wanted to scream; to shout, to deny it, to break something. But beyond the anger and denial, beyond the shock of the news and the horror he felt over their struggles amounting to practically nothing, there was only a cold numbness.
"... I understand how he could find the 'seven pieces of Light', but... how was he going to find thirteen darknesses?"
Images flashed in his mind, but nothing made sense; twelve people in black coats like the ones Lea, Xion, and Roxas wore, a round room with white thrones. There was a cold feeling of dread just thinking about those images, and a sense of...
...almost hopelessness, if he had to put a name to it.

He nods grimly at Aqua's comment... and really can't help but snort at Terra's. Since...
"Well... they didn't name it the Organization XIII for nothing."
He shakes his head... just a little more than half a year ago, when Sora and he had swum back to the shore after suddenly winding up in the ocean just before the Play Island... he had thought it was over. With both Ansem and Xemnas, as well as the rest of the Organization gone, things should have stayed peaceful for a while now, he had thought.
But as Mickey had written in that letter... that journey had just been preparation for the things to come. Just like their Mark of Mastery exam. The moment he returned home...
"Back home... the current count is twelve Darknesses to three Lights. Five counting Kairi and Lea." Though given their lack of training and experience with a Keyblade... "And even that-"
He shakes his head, worry flickering over his face as his hands tighten to fists.
"They tried to take Sora for the thirteenth slot. We managed to stop them, but-"
But Xehanort is not the type to give up. Nor is Sora the type to constantly watch his back.
He cuts himself off there; it's not like either of the three of them could do anything about that here and now. That issue will remain as is until
Nomura decides to give us KHIII, finally 8|he returns back home. Unless the Xehanort here gets any wind of his future ambitions. And given certain time travel shenanigans... it's not as odd a thought as it ought to be. Right?no subject
"...He isn't the kind to give up." She finished Riku's comment for him, because she knew all too well. "Like Master like Apprentice."
Lowering her hand, she turned her attention to Riku. "...Three lights. I've... heard echoes of someone's voice through a bond. Not to mention..." Aqua hesitated, inwardly steeling up at the thought. "'Never hurts to have a backup.'"
Oops, did she share that. Aqua shook her head.
"...It still leaves the question: What do we do? Do we call him by Xehanort, or something else?"

More images follow; the courtyard in Radiant Garden, Vanitas and Aqua fighting, and the masked boy lying on the ground apparently unconscious.
He tries to make sense of it in context with Aqua's quote... and the only thing he can think of makes him finally see red. If it hadn't been Ven... it could've been Aqua that was used.
Just. Going to finally look up at Aqua. "Aqua. If Vanitas ever shows up here, I want to be the one to throw him through a window."
That's the least of what he wants to do to someone that's made casual reference to using his friends like that, but it'll have to do.
Okay. Trying to calm down again. This 'not letting your emotions control you' thing was difficult.
Well. Looking thoughtful now. That's a good question, Aqua. "... I don't know. I'd prefer to call him by another name, but I wouldn't be able to think of one that might suit him. He is a blank slate right now, after all."
no subject
He sobers up a second later though, Aqua is right after all. They do need to figure out what to do with the guy that's lying outside. Glancing over to the door, he frowns again as he thinks... a blank slate. A man that was hell bent on creating something that would put them all at risk, for light knows what reasons back home.
Well... given how things had turned out there, there was definitely a chance that he might remember some things at least...
"Maybe we should just ask him about it. If he doesn't recall any names, we can discuss one with him."
Preferably one that isn't Xehanort.
no subject
"Well, it will be your turn... I'll distract him if you give me the chance to." She frowns slightly, but nods faintly. She'll admit, that she wasn't the best with making up names for anyone. "It wouldn't hurt."
Yet something felt wrong and she couldn't put a finger on it. Maybe it was just her attempt to not see red after what was revealed? Either way, she'd prefer not calling him Xehanort, either.
