I Got Taken to Hinoto-Ri and All I Got Was This Lousy Persona

Who: Guybrush Threepwood with El Pollo Diablo, open.
Where: Pretty much damn well everywhere in the city.
Summary: Guybrush, we're pretty sure this is a gross abuse of your Persona's abilities.
Warnings: Treasure hunting without logic or sense.
Guybrush still finds the giant chicken embarrassing.

On the other hand, it turns out that Guybrush can be quite forgiving when he wants to be. Especially when that want happens to, say, coincide with the unlocking of a new ability. And ESPECIALLY when that ability apparently detects treasure, because what sort of pirate turns down a treasure hunt?

So here's Guybrush. And here's a giant chicken. And they're checking out every garbage can, barrel, and other random container in the city. Some of the "treasure" turned out to be junk even Guybrush couldn't utilize properly, but they've found a few things, like potions, and minor items, and even food! (Yeah, like heck he's eating that.)

Naturally, this is going to, well, turn some heads.

Oh hey, it's Mr. Eggs. He holds a finger up. "Please. ANYBODY can just go to a store. A PIRATE treasure hunts." He pulls out a horseshoe. "Mmm, could be useful."

Hikawa purses his lips a bit as Threepwood holds a finger up to him. He doesn't appreciate the gesture, or the challenge on what he said. Treasure hunting. Are you a child?

"I suppose it might come in handy if you work in a stable.

You do realize there is a reason these are garbage, correct?"

"You have NO imagination." He pockets it. "Anyway, haven't you ever heard the term 'One man's garbage is another man's treasure?' You'd be AMAZED the sorta use I've gotten out of stuff people just threw away for no reason."

"I'm being practical."

But no. You're right. Hikawa has no imagination. He sniffs a bit, disdainful, before responding.

"Tell me what you're going to do with it then. Do you work in a stable, or have a horse?"

"Well, let's see. You might need to trade it with a stablehand for something, you might need it for an impromptu horseshoe-tossing contest, you could find a way to magnetize it and tie it to a rope to pull up something, it can be used as a weight in case you need to disguise the weight of something..."

He counts off a myriad of different uses like this. For a guy with no metaphorical imagination, he sure has a ludicrous number of ways to use a mundane object.

"It's good to be prepared, but those sound rather unlikely don't you think?"

He can't tell if this is some elaborate gag or if you're sincere still. If you are sincere, Hikawa has to wonder if you're crazy.

"You CLEARLY haven't led the sort of life I have. Anyway, if I just waited around until I DID need something like this to go get it, it'd just get irritating for everybody."

You get the feeling he's referring to something else, but it's hard to put a finger on.

"Anyway, it's not like you gotta watch me doing it if it bugs you so much. I'm just taking advantage of the one really good thing this giant chicken's gotten me so far."

He doesn't have to bother you Threepwood, but the inanity of your actions just calls to him. It's like he's an asshole and he's attracted and called by the fact you're having a good time. And he just has to ruin it as much as he can.

Still. Damn. That chicken.

"...Is it your Persona, or something else?"

[a_pirate_meant_to_be]

"Uh..." He flits his eyes back and fourth. "Can I plead the fifth on this?"

The chicken seems to let out an amused "cluck" over that.
