A Day in the Life of a Part Time Job Slave

Who: Yu Narukami, and everyone and anyone and all the things.
Where: Virgo, Aquarius, and Taurus Districts; any given week.
Summary: Yu's still working his three jobs to help save up for an apartment. And now it's almost Christmas time... you can pretty much guess how this goes.
Warnings: Crossdressing antics.

[Christmas time again... never mind it had only been a few months ago for Yu. He didn't want to think much about what happened before last Christmas, so... well...]

[MONDAY-WEDNESDAY; MAYS GROCERY STORE CLERK, 5:00 3:00-11:00PM]
[Being the superstore of Hinoto-Ri, of course Mays is swamped on a regular basis. Yu is totally and completely not shocked when they start calling him in to work extra hours. He was thinking about going back to school, but that's obviously out this month... at least the extra money will help with his apartment funds.]

[Yu can be found, quite literally, all over the store. Seeing as it's busy, he's willing to go where ever they need him: grocery, check out, deli area... everywhere.]

[THURSDAY-FRIDAY; AQUARIUS DISTRICT LIBRARY, 5:00-9:00PM]
[He would say that Thursday and Friday are his break days, but guess where some shoppers drop their kids off while they shop? Hinoto-Ri really needs a Chuck E. Cheese or something...]

[When Yu isn't child wrangling, he'll be around helping with anyone that wants to study or needs some kind of tutoring. He would also bring Nanako with him while he works, if she wants to come.]

[SATURDAY; NYX'S NIGHTCLUB, 10:00PM-4:00AM]
[...he hates the fact that he's starting to love this job.]

[No, seriously, after he got over the overwhelming shame, he found himself having a lot of fun at work. Sure, it sucked when demons got a little too grabby, but he was strong enough to remind them that touching was against the rules.]

[Since it's going to be cold on the 8th, Yu's going to work wearing his wig. Hey, the extra hair helped to keep his ears warm.]

Fine; I've been working and taking care of my cousin that arrived. You?

[Just... walk over to the soup bar with him, Atsuro. He'll even be nice and dish you out some soup if you ask.]

I think I've been spending most of my free time in the library, which is kinda weird.

[Atsuro shrugs a little bit and dutifully walks alongside the cart.]

Otherwise, nothing much to say. Fight demons, play games, go to bed.

[A brief pause.]

Uh - you look like you've got your hands full there. Need any help with that?

Hm? I've got it.

[And he does, lifting out the empty container in the soup bar, before sliding the new one in. Fighting around in TVs makes you awesomely strong, you know.]

You didn't run into any trouble with the scorpions, did you?

[otakuro]

[Atsuro is slightly impressed. Even his uncharacteristically high Strength stat couldn't accomplish a feat like that.]

Scorpion. Just the big one, really. We managed to take care of it in the end, though.

Oh...

[He pulled out the next soup container before continuing.]

You were with Yosuke then.

Prooobably, unless there was more than one, uh... well-endowed scorpion monster running around. We came at it from three different sides, so I only really paid attention to the ones fighting with me.

[The thing had been unfairly humongous.]

I was afraid we'd see a repeat last month, but it looks like we've been lucky.

[Another pause as Yu hauled up the replacement container, sliding it into place.]

Don't let your guard down, though. We don't know what else could happen.

[And this weather has been so screwy already...]

Yeah. It happened once, and we still don't know the reason why. I mean, all we really do all day is sit around fighting off the odd demon, right? There's just no real plan...

[Yu paused his work at that, giving Atsuro an encouraging smile.]

There wasn't really a 'plan' for the TVs either. We knew we had a murder to catch, the only we would be able to find because of the situation, but we did not have a direction until late in the year.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is live your life day to day.

[otakuro]

Hm... Well...

[He appreciates the attempt to encourage him, but Atsuro functioned best with a little more organization.]

You at least went out and did some investigation, right? It seems like we haven't learned anything except that no one knows what happened.

Yes, we did; or well, we tried. The only information we could rely on was from those that had been thrown in the TV. We had trouble putting the pieces together at first, until one of our friends also obtained their persona.

[...and even then it wasn't immediately obvious. Hm... this probably wasn't being at all encouraging. Yu paused a moment, thinking...]

Did you see the Persona tournament a few months back?

[otakuro]

Oh, yeah. I was in that!

[I lost in that.]

I'd be up for trying it again, now that I've got a little more experience. ...And a Persona with Diarama.

[Yeah... he's still not sure what happened to his match. He's pretty sure he passed out afterward...]

I would too. We should sign up sometime.

[otakuro]

I thought they were suspended over the winter, but maybe I just think that because I haven't been paying attention much.

.......Not that this is much of a winter right now.

I don't think winter is supposed to be like this.

[Call it a hunch. Either that, or you know... dealing with so much TV crap.]

But as soon as they open, we should sign up; maybe on a team, if they allow that.

Sure thing.

[Atsuro steps slightly to the side as he realizes he's getting in the way of the customers perusing the soup options.]

...I probably shouldn't be worrying too much about organization. I mean, people here have the same power we do and look what they've been doing with it. Fighting leagues...

It's been 9 years since this all began. Rome wasn't built in a day, and I guess this mystery won't be getting solved in three months.

Exactly.

It took us almost an entire year to find out who the person throwing people in the TVs were, and even then we didn't have the whole story.

It will work out... it may take some time, but it will. We just have to be patient and keep our eyes open.

[Atsuro glances over to the sign behind Yu.]

My open eyes are spotting that you've got a rice noodle soup special today. Any chance of a cup?

I've got that right here.

[He paused, pulling out the old bin for the rice noodle soup and replacing it with a new one. He dished out some for Atsuro, handing it over for him.]

[otakuro]

"Thanks."

Atsuro stacks it on top of his rice crackers with a careful hand.

"...Hey, do you work here all the time? I think this is the first time I've run into you before."

"Just Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays," Yu replied. "I work at the library on Thursdays and Fridays."

[otakuro]

"Right. I'm usually here on the weekends." Yu forgot one of your jobs, Yu; clearly that was some kind of anomalous oversight. "I'm over in the computing center myself, but the work is pretty slow. Guess it leaves more time for training." In his video games.
