A Day in the Life of a Part Time Job Slave

Who: Yu Narukami, and everyone and anyone and all the things.
Where: Virgo, Aquarius, and Taurus Districts; any given week.
Summary: Yu's still working his three jobs to help save up for an apartment. And now it's almost Christmas time... you can pretty much guess how this goes.
Warnings: Crossdressing antics.

[Christmas time again... never mind it had only been a few months ago for Yu. He didn't want to think much about what happened before last Christmas, so... well...]

[MONDAY-WEDNESDAY; MAYS GROCERY STORE CLERK, 5:00 3:00-11:00PM]
[Being the superstore of Hinoto-Ri, of course Mays is swamped on a regular basis. Yu is totally and completely not shocked when they start calling him in to work extra hours. He was thinking about going back to school, but that's obviously out this month... at least the extra money will help with his apartment funds.]

[Yu can be found, quite literally, all over the store. Seeing as it's busy, he's willing to go where ever they need him: grocery, check out, deli area... everywhere.]

[THURSDAY-FRIDAY; AQUARIUS DISTRICT LIBRARY, 5:00-9:00PM]
[He would say that Thursday and Friday are his break days, but guess where some shoppers drop their kids off while they shop? Hinoto-Ri really needs a Chuck E. Cheese or something...]

[When Yu isn't child wrangling, he'll be around helping with anyone that wants to study or needs some kind of tutoring. He would also bring Nanako with him while he works, if she wants to come.]

[SATURDAY; NYX'S NIGHTCLUB, 10:00PM-4:00AM]
[...he hates the fact that he's starting to love this job.]

[No, seriously, after he got over the overwhelming shame, he found himself having a lot of fun at work. Sure, it sucked when demons got a little too grabby, but he was strong enough to remind them that touching was against the rules.]

[Since it's going to be cold on the 8th, Yu's going to work wearing his wig. Hey, the extra hair helped to keep his ears warm.]

"That's perfect, actually."

Yu paused, before realizing that probably sounded horrible. "Cats really like fish."

"Yeah, but it seems a little sick to just feed the lil' guy to the cat. Maybe we could use it as bait though." He begins digging around again. "Maybe if we set up something..."

"...I guess it would be okay," Yu replied, glancing at the cat. Poor guy looked hungry... taunting him with a fish seemed pretty cruel.

Guybrush would argue that feeding a live fish to a cat would be about as bad, honestly.

"Hmm, don't think I got anything too good... Hey, wanna help me double team the guy? I lure him out with the fish, and you snag him as he's hypnotized by the shiny, shimmering snack food."

Yu gave a nod. "All right."

"Gotcha. Sorry lil' guy, you're going to be serving a grander purpose here."

He bends down to near where the cat had hidden and begins holding out the bag. "Heeeeere kitty kitty kitty. Look at this! Fishy fishy." He shakes the bag very gently.

The cat, despite its better interests, slowly approaches, still keeping out of arm's reach. Then, when lead expected, it pounces, obviously hoping to snag the fish and run off before the crazy blonde dude can do anything.

Yu was ready for the cat, leaping to grab for it just as it pounced...!

...and somehow, the cat twisted away from him in midair, sending Yu fumbling face first into the pavement when he couldn't stop himself in time.

Guybrush barely manages to pull the bag up in the air before the cat gives him the facial clawing of a lifetime. Satisfied with its work, it bolts further down the alleyway while Guybrush leans against the wall, dazed.

"That... didn't go very well, did it?"

Yu lifted himself off the pavement, rubbing his forehead. Ow... that was a smart cat...

"...we need to try something else."

"Clearly we need some sort of cunning trap. The fish isn't quiiiiiite enough here."

He digs through his stuff. "Hmm, lessee... coconut, ship oil, rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle that I SWEAR I got rid of eons ago..."

Yu just... stared. Seriously, how did he carry all that stuff?!

"Just feeding it to him would have been more effective..." he mumbled, trying to get a look at what he was rummaging around.

"Oh sure, I'd love to hear how YOU suggest you catch him once he ate the fish and bolted." Apparently Guybrush's trust in the notion of a grateful cat is much lower than Yu's.

At some length, the following items have been pulled out. He sits there, thinking.

"Animals are much more appreciative than you think," Yu explained. "If you feed them, they'll keep coming back."

Still, he wasn't going to ignore the fact that Guybrush was pretty determined to do this his own way. At the same time, he had to wonder why the supposed pirate kept these things on his person...

"Maybe this oil will help..." he finally said after a reluctant moment. "If we can get the cat to run in a direction we want, he might slip."

"The goldfish wouldn't come back if we fed HIM to the cat. I think there's a wee bit of a moral dilemma going on here."

Guybrush perks up. "Got it! That's perfect! Now we just need to track the little jerk down again." He looks down the alleyway. "...and then, once we're finished, search for some bandaids. Ow."

Yu couldn't help but look exasperated. Did the guy never eat fish himself or something...?

Well, whatever; at least they had some kind of plan going on. Still... Yu paused a moment to check the time, trying to see if he would have enough time to do this, hair and makeup, and be on stage when he was supposed to be. He thought so, but...

"Let me try and find the cat. I might have better luck."

He didn't eat cute, little golden ones he likes to call Flippy. He's actually been taking care of that thing for weeks.

He nods. "Right you are, partner. Sooner we get this done, the sooner I can get whatever I'm supposed to get for doing this."

Yu gave a nod, starting toward the back of the alley where the cat disappeared. Now, if he were a poor hungry cat, where would he hide...?

The answer, apparently, is "another dumpster," as it burrows around inside of it looking for edible loot. The ironic thing about this is how much it resembles the man who's so determined to solve this situation in the most comedically jerkish manner ever.

...poor cat. He really wished there was a way to nab that goldfish from the pirate -- seriously, it was just a gold fish... -- and feed it to the poor little guy. He couldn't help but love cats...

"Hey there... psst..." he called to it softly, trying to get it to come out of the new dumpster.

The cat looks at the guy with the wig with an air of distinct lack of interest before digging back in. Apparently it's not the friendliest example of its species.

...obviously not. Okay, here goes nothing...

...he really wished Izanagi had a physical resistance right now.

Yu reached into the dumpster, trying to make a grab for the cat.

Better roll to save against scratchy furball fury, Yu, because it's going at it like a food processor right now.

Owowowowowowowow! Yu snatched his hand away, though not without suffering some damage. Good thing no one at his job looked at his hands!

"C'mon, don't be stubborn...!"

It was time to take the Yosuke approach; Yu started rattling the dumpster, hoping that would shake him out.

It seems stalwart for a bit, sticking to it the best it can, but eventually it decides eff this noise and bolts, trying to shoot past Yu as fast as it can.

Yu tried to make a mad grab for it, but that wasn't happening.

"Guybrush, get ready!" he shouted down the alley. Hopefully that pirate wouldn't be able to screw up dumping oil around...
